So this happened. I'm as shocked as you. This is based on one of my kids having to do this same project. The dolls are uncanny (and a little creepy).

Author: me
Pairing: Klaine, mentions of Brittana
Rating: PG
Spoilers: Up through 3.18, but not really
Summary: Blaine is excited for his school project so he can see what it's like to be a parent. And he's about to find out. [Set in S3.]
Warnings: Reality! Panic! Marlon Brando! Cat hair! Angst! And a serious amount of fluff.
A/N: So [livejournal.com profile] flaming_muse and I had lunch at the Museum of Natural History in NYC last year and talked about writing stories with kids as they really are and not idealized. And then this happened from an email this morning about our kids. I regret nothing. :D Title is from the tagline for RealLife dolls, and FM is fabulous for tucking my commas in and making me WRITE ALL THE WORDS.

Title: The Only Living Boy In New York
Rating: Gen
Word count: >2500
Spoilers: Through 4.01, pure speculation past that
Summary: Kurt in Central Park during the autumn, and a much needed phone call. Warnings: dog slobber.
A/N: Thank you, as always, to [livejournal.com profile] flaming_muse for using sharp sticks and poking this until it stopped bleeding red edits. (And for making me turn an email I sent her into a story.) The title is from Simon & Garfunkel's fabulous “Bridge Over Troubled Waters” album, which always makes me think of autumn and the unknown.

The ground beneath it was littered with leaves in crimson and gold. He kicked through the leaves, feeling a bit giddy that this was his life now – walks in Central Park, restaurants where his idols dined, the lights of Broadway just over the horizon )
In a life where I have an embarrassment of riches in the friend department, where I have met some of the most special people in my life right here in this very journal, there comes along a person that just changes everything. A person that makes you want to be better, to reach further, to put a smile on their face that becomes permanent. [livejournal.com profile] flaming_muse is such a friend. It took us years of politely smiling at one another in mutual friends' journals before we finally figured out how to talk to each other. And from that point, it's become a need in my life to talk to her daily. And when I say daily, I mean that it's not uncommon for us to have email threads that exceed 75 in one day. (Not to mention texts, and actual writing work/communication.)

There's not a day that goes by that I'm not grateful for her friendship, or that I'm not grateful for the light and support and love she gives me daily. I highly recommend getting a friend like that in your life (but you're not taking mine. :D) Happiest of birthdays, the Kurt to my Blaine! (In a platonic sense, of course. :D)

Title: I Will Always Feel The Same
Rating:
Word count: 1150
Summary: Sometimes it's best to not ask ourselves “what if's.” FLUFF!! I promise.
A/N: Written as a birthday gift for my lovely RL and fandom friend, [livejournal.com profile] flaming_muse. Unbeta'd, because she's my beta! Poor treatment to make her work on her birthday... All mistakes are mine, but taking her hand on the stairs (in a metaphoric way) wasn't one of them. Quite the opposite, actually. <3 (Title is taken from “I Will,” by The Beatles.)

What if I'd hesitated? )

It should go without saying, but I'll say it anyway: I am 100% AGAINST spoilers and speculation. Do not mention anything that even hints at anything to come in S4. Please. Please please please. :) And you should go here to send her birthday greetings, should you be so inclined!
Because this isn't some slap-dash unf fest that drops off into WTF? land in the end, like almost everything I've tried reading lately has done. More times than not I've found myself going along with a fic, a fill on the kink meme and then drop my chin to my chest and say, "So close."

So that doesn't happen here. At all. Ever. This is so well thought out, so well executed, and - when it finally gets to this specific place in the story - so damn hot your retinas will burn. Singlehandedly the hottest, most intimate, most emotional and visceral love scene I've read in print or online. Period.

Okay, okay, enough of the slobbering, here's the first chapter to Near Misses, by [livejournal.com profile] flaming_muse. College AU where Kurt and Blaine didn't meet on a staircase. This is what happens instead. Also? This is 176,000 words, so you get loads to chew on with each chapter, and it's in both of their POVs, changing with each new scene. I have been reading along as she's written this, and it has been my utmost pleasure to be granted that.

Her posting schedule is every other day. She is a thoughtful, intelligent writer, and it's funny, it's painful, it's edge-of-your seat and it's always ALWAYS Kurt and Blaine. Even in this AU.

And for the love of all that's good, LEAVE FEEDBACK. That's how you encourage writers you like to write you more. :)
Title: A Love I Can Be Sure Of (part of WTS verse)
Rating: NC-17
Spoilers: Not a one.
Word Count: 7200
Warnings: Shower sex? Pruney fingers? NASA jokes? Happy people enjoying each other's bodies?
Summary: You didn't think I'd let the other one-shot be the christening of the new fire station, did you? Pure lovin' under the cut.
A/N: You're welcome for not titling this with any number of cheesy Fireman Puns: It's take a big hose to put out that fire, Firemen Are Hot, etc. Also, THANK YOU to [livejournal.com profile] flaming_muse for initially saying that I should follow through on this whole idea and reading and guiding me along the way. And seriously: spend money on shoes and lube. Two places you should never skimp. Title is from Carole King's gorgeous song, "Tonight You're Mine (Completely)" because it makes me happy.

Picks up immediately after THIS, and is a part of the Where There's Smoke 'verse.

Title: ...And Hello To Station 114
Author: Stoney321/Heydontjudgme
Word Count: 5500ish
Rating: PG-13/R? IDK anymore.
Summary: While Blaine finishes closing down the old Brownstone with his crew, Kurt takes the opportunity to set up a special evening for the two of them in the new station. Oh, the fluff. Pages of pastel-colored cotton balls with sprinkles, guys.
A/N: IDK, I just needed something sweet and lovely? Maybe you did, too, we'll see. (And there is still more coming. IDK either. (a new ebook file is at the end of this one-shot.) As always, a massive, smooshy thank you to [livejournal.com profile] flaming_muse for tucking my commas in and just generally indulging me on these crazy things. (Without her, this entire story wouldn't exist.)

Continuation from here, and a part of the Where There's Smoke 'verse.

Kurt shoved Blaine's new desk three inches back to the left. He'd tried nine inches (precisely) forward, five (approximately) to the right, the length of his shoe shoved back towards the wall, and even tried canting it at an angle at one point before hysteria set in. )

Title: Goodbye to the Engine Co 204 Brownstone
Author: Stoney321
Rating: PG-13?
Word Count:
Summary: Engine Company 204 and Ladder Company 211 are moving to a new building. Blaine (with the help of Kurt) says goodbye to the memories, both bad and good.
A/N: I was trying to find a different picture of the Brooklyn fire station I used as a model for the story and found out that it was demolished earlier to make way for a school's expansion and had tiny heartbreak. This is the result. It's...pretty fluffy (a little morose in others, but overall FLUFF).

This is a part of the Where There's Smoke universe.

Blaine doged the group of movers on the staircase, carefully wrapping up all of the old pictures of the fire station from over the past 107 years, pictures that had hung on those walls for almost as long. )
I am currently sporting a sunburn from working in the garden all day yesterday (my choice, promise) and am all standing with hands on hips beaming at how nice it's looking. So many primary colors are in bloom. :) I also harvested a 20 gallon bucket full of Bluebonnet seeds - that is a lot of seed, folks. But I've not had to buy bluebonnets in several years, so I am a-ok with the hard work.

Before I dash off to the eye doctor for new anteojos I wanted to link you up.

GAME OF THRONES recap! God, I love this show. And Jaime Lannister.
Supernatural recap!
Touch's recap! (And it was just renewed for S2!)

And a fic rec, and I've had the honest pleasure in watching this character study grow. It's beautiful, it's thoughtful, it's painful in places (as discovering who you really are often is) - Being Kurt Hummel by [livejournal.com profile] flaming_muse. It's NC-17, but don't think that this is some porn romp. This is thoughtful consideration at how this particular young man realizes who he is as the world mistreats him (and as some people love him.) Please make a point to leave a comment - that's how writers know you came by.

Okay, off to get some cute glasses. <3
First, Hey, Don't Judge Me is cooking today (with lots coming later today, too.)
Game of Thrones! Hope you like your incest. And baby killing.
Dexter! The rewatch continues with the beginning of Season 2, eps. 1 - 3.
Touch! The new Keifer show that is steadily picking up steam.
Later today: Mad Men! Bomb Girls! And THE RETURN OF THE BORGIAS (but debuting on HDJM!) Show my girls some love, if you would be so kind. They're working for praise, so how about you give them a raise? :)

FIC REC: one of those "Please drop what you are doing, read this, leave encouraging feedback, and marvel that this is in the world" kind of fics.

Sweet! A Love Story Told In Sugar by [livejournal.com profile] ohquixotica (I believe there are two other authors contributing as well?

WHY: Did you love Pushing Daisies? Do you love surreal romance and beautiful words and maybe a little Like Water For Chocolate? Because this story is all of that and more. I very rarely get emotionally moved by a lot of fanfic. I'm a jerk, I suppose. I choked up, clutched my heart, squealed with happiness, and felt everything right along with the characters. So funny, so sweet, so achy in places I could barely catch my breath. Everything I love in a story and all I didn't know I needed. PLEASE. Track this one. It's a WiP.

And those in Glee fandom? THAT IS HOW YOU WRITE 3rd PERSON OMNISCIENT. Know your POVs, it seems to be a problem. Do I sound snippy? I'll tell you why. But before I cut, PLEASE PLEASE READ.TRACK, BOOKMARK SWEET. You'll thank me later, I guarantee.

In which I go all Santana-like on entitlement, manners, why people share fanfic in the first place, and mother frakkin' TONE. )

And here come the anonymous "Stoney's a bitch" comments, I'm sure. Sorry for having opinions in my own journal. *

*no, I'm not. And one last time: CATCHING TYPOS is one thing. Talking down to me is another. Guess which one I'm cool with? (And christ, the story is 148,000 words. There's bound to be an error. Find me a printed book without a single error, would you?)

Title: And I Hear It's Good For Your Skin, Too [One-shot] [...probably]
Rating: R for lascivious thoughts, lol
Warnings: You're going to want a massage after this. You should get one, they're boss.
Word Count 5100+
Summary: Blaine Anderson wins an office pool and gets a massage. Hey, guess who his masseur is? Blaine kind of gets into it. A lot.
A/N: This is to put a smile on my lovely [livejournal.com profile] flaming_muse who had her first PROPER MASSAGE today. Um, I'm guessing she didn't have this experience. But if she did, I would like to book an appointment at her spa ASAP. Shameless massage shenanigans within, unbeta'd which - I know, I know, shame on me.

Blaine looked around the room, not really sure about any of this. The guys at the office had gone on and on about how great massage was, but Blaine had gotten the impression that Bill had some hot lady that was giving him a MASSAGE massage, and he just felt kind of weird about the whole thing. Getting naked and some stranger putting their hands all over him? And then the stranger turns out to not be some 6' 4” former shot putting Ukrainian woman with a huge wart on her lip, which was less daunting, but... Hmm. Having a really attractive man with a soft and soothing voice wasn't helping, either. )

I tried to be as accurate as a visitor to NYC can get, but did take a few liberties with neighborhood bodegas. Also, FringeFest does not currently have a Broadway segment to their lineup, but they should. :)

Kurt had dropped his family back at their hotel with meticulously written instructions for how to get on the subway, how to behave on the subway, who to not speak to on the subway, and how to get to the area by Turtle Pond where his performance would be held. )

Kurt worked into the late hours of the night, making up for lost time. He hadn't stopped to give Rachel a full report when she came home, just held his cheek out for her kiss then promised her more tomorrow. He had even switched his phone to mute to keep from being distracted. As a result, when he woke up the next morning he saw several frantic texts from Peter )

Back when it was just him and his father, taking care of his dad – and to some extent, himself – had just come naturally. At first it was out of necessity, but it became who he now was, someone that stared down fear and kept going. It hadn't occurred to him that he could have left before Blaine had returned; he hadn't needed to make sure Blaine had been taken care of, he just...did it. He wanted to take care of Blaine, not because Blaine couldn't do for himself – he clearly could – but because Kurt could. And he really, really wanted to. )

Kurt knew this wasn’t some cute guy with a crooked smile at a coffee shop wanting to go to the movies. This wasn’t the interesting boy from his Stagecraft class who wanted to hold hands and talk about three-dimensional stage design. This was someone that would be significant.
