ever since I got my new MacBook, meaning I lost Seamagic, I forget to post to LJ. That little purple icon on my desktop was my connection here. =/

It's been a while, let's see:

  • Life is stressful, but it's always stressful

  • Life is awesome, but it's always awesome

  • I read the Captive Prince books (trilogy, only 1&2 are out) and really enjoyed them, aside from them being somewhat rapey, but that's what you get with a slave fic, right? I didn't read the fine print. But! I still really liked the world building and am invested in the characters, so I'll be reading #3

  • I wrote about playing Hip Hop during church (when I was a Gospel Doctrine teacher) and that might amuse you. :)

  • I tweeted the new ChuckD song, got retweeted by him, and am now being followed by loads of Hip Hop twitter accounts, and I feel like this gives me street cred, lol /whitewoman

  • I posted a recipe on my blog in which I get increasingly frustrated and drunk (because of who I was cooking with. The recipe - one pot pasta - was super straightforward and easy)

  • I need a haircut. I also need a buddy who lives on my block so I can go have lunch and talk gay protagonists while sipping mojitos =/

Jun. 11th, 2014 12:49 pm
Catching up with everyone. We all good? Crappy? Hungry? All three in various degrees? SAME.

If you haven't seen my previous posts, then let me remind you that I'm gearing up my professional writer blog (BECAUSE COME NOVEMBER, I WILL BE A PHYSICAL BOOK IN A BRICK AND MORTAR PROFESSIONAL WRITER, HEY HEY NOW!) with regular posts to drum up an audience.

1. Mormon Mondays, posted every Mon.
2. Trade Day Tuesdays, posted once a month where folks can pimp their projects, recs, etc. Hopefully this will gain traction and we'll all be a great big sharing community of things that are awesome.
3. Writing Wednesday, every Wed. [LINK IS FOR TODAY], and this isn't me trying to tell you how to write, but simply talking about the process and most importantly: ENCOURAGING YOU IF YOU NEED IT, because that's how I roll. (Ex: one guy from the HDJM comments section is now inspired to write, so he's checking in with me because don't we all need head pats? Of course! I can do that for you, too!)
4. Throwback Thursday, every week, random hilarity/music/what have you
5. Free For All Friday, WINE. CHEESE. MAYBE PR0NY PICS OR LINKS. It's a wildcard. like me.

HEY. I am hungry like nobody's business, but I'm waiting for my girls to get their buns downstairs so we can go eat. TEENAGERS, pfft.

ION, I was carded at the liquor store yesterday, and I don't even care if the guy was smarmy and salesman-ish, because I WILL TAKE THAT. That shizz will fuel me like nobody's business.

ION 2, I've been posting a bunch of TW fic lately, including the latest one this weekend, an Amnesia/fake-pretend relationship fic called BLACK OUT DAYS. I'm having a lot of fun playing in that fandom, I have to say. The show is kind of crap in that the writing isn't good or cohesive, but the ACTORS. They are giving 110% (which is mathematically impossible and yet) and are so pretty and just trying to subvert their creator at every turn. I approve. And when I don't: I fic.
1. Walking Dead recap/discussion post is right here.
2. Buffy 1.07 "Angel" recap is right here.
3. Sleepy Hollow? Oh, we got your Sleepy Hollow recaps.
4. And I barely need to link to the SPN recaps, because they are CRAZY POPULAR (way to go, Vinnie!)
5. The old BFF is coming in for a visit this weekend and I am going to jam bird seed into her hands, since she doesn't eat normal food. (I am teasing you Vegans. Sort of. OMG I don't want to hear it, okay?)
6. I bought some cool fingernail polish at Sephora this weekend that is METALLIC PEACOCK and I NEVER paint my nails, but my daughter made me paint my thumb and I liked it and here we are.
7. Oh! I won a prize at Nordstroms, apparently, and it was CHANEL AND LANCOME MAKEUP/PERFUME/ETC. Like, full sizes and everything! Which is awesome because I never win stuff and I never buy myself makeup unless it's an emergency makeup situation. (ahaha - spell check is telling me Lancome should be COME-CON. WORST. CONVENTION. EVER.)
8. I also bought a fabulous pair of heels this weekend that are peacock colors (teal blue and teal green) and they make me feel awesome and tall.
9. These are all important things because it appears that I am FINALLY GOING ON A VACATION, and that is to LA in December to attend Trevor Live with [livejournal.com profile] flaming_muse and we are in the GOOD SEATS. Like, rubbing elbows with the elite seats. Mama wants to look good. (So excited, omg.)
10. On my run this morning I encountered two rascals, a German Shepherd and a Pit Bull who had broken free to chase ducks in the pond. They were dripping wet, grinning from ear to ear, and let me check their collars like nice puppies. I got them home and they gave me many hand licks and knee-rubs as thanks.

...I mentioned they were dripping wet, right? LOL. So stinky (but so sweet!).
BUNDT LOVERS! Wait, come back!!

Ahaha, guys, I love big bundts and I cannot lie. YEAH. I'M OFFICIALLY REVERTING TO DAD HUMOR. But it's important! Williams-Sonoma has a Star of David bundt pan! THIS IS RELEVANT TO MY INTERESTS. Because I'm interested in making delicious cake for my Jewish friends, you see.

In other news, I have made 2 pounds (literally) of hummus today because apparently that is my favorite snack? Toasted bread with a thick schmear of hummus? NOM NOM.

I can't get anything done and so I online window shop. /pathetic

This post brought to you by a person hiding from Duck Dynasty playing in the other room. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND.
Hey, are you into Sleepy Hollow? GUESS WHAT IS ON HDJM.
Maybe you're looking for people to talk to about Breaking Bad? The Bridge? Yep. Got that, too.

And remember: we are a HAPPY FANDOM PLACE. Never will there be wank, never will there be shipping wars, never will there be general douchebaggery, and never will there be spoilers.

Guys? It's an amazing time to be alive. (And remember, all of our writers do this out of the love they have for their shows - they want to share it, talk about it, roll around in the joy of loving what they love. Share the links, remind people it's a SAFE PLACE, and chat up the writers!)

Is anyone aware of a shelter/organization with a proven track record in Houston for abused women? I'm not looking for what can be googled, I'm looking for a place that is KNOWN to help women get out of situations right after being contacted, for a place/organizations that is known for maintaining anonymity for their safety and a place that can deal with an abused woman who has children.

This person is a business executive who will need help regaining control over her finances, but take away that this means she won't require long-term placement in a shelter, just that push to get legal balls rolling.

I am leaving this post open on the chance that anyone scrolling by in the HOUSTON, TX area might see this. ETA If so, PLEASE MESSAGE ME OR COMMENT HERE and I will [privately] get you in contact with the SAFE PLACE to help you.

You absolutely need to watch this lecture series by John Cleese on how to be creative, how to ALLOW YOURSELF to be creative, and how to make it happen again and again. Creativity shouldn't be lightning in a jar.

Absolutely brilliant.

And may I say that years ago, when I learned that Monty Python kept bankers' hours (and believed the SNL method of doing coke and staying up for 36 hours to write sketches was stupid), I realized that it meant that one way wasn't THE way. When you're trying to follow in footsteps of giants, it's okay to take a path alongside them (and dip into the woods and go a different way, actually).

"Humor is an essential part of spontaneity, an essential part of playfulness, an essential part of creativity that we need to solve problems."

And now for something completely different. (Different from me not creating a damn thing.) I'm taking a deep cleansing breath, setting up my personal oasis, and giggling all I want, as per instructed.
AKA, Time Warner Cable is a Harvey Buttcheese.

QUICKLY, before my connection goes out again.

1. GAME OF THRONES. Guys. I just cannot. It's the best damn show on TV, the writing, the acting, the sets, I LOVE IT ALL.
2. Hannibal continues to be our biggest draw on the HDJM website, click and find out why. :D
3. Dr. Who continues to have some of the most loyal readers - click to find out why. :D
4. I had lobster macaroni and cheese this weekend. I am still patting my belly in remembrance.
5. It is sunny and gorgeous outside, and I want to be out in it.
6. Laying out/bathing suit time! <3

In conclusion, life is fine, Time Warner Cable is a bunch of butt faces. TYPING ON MY PHONE IS HARD AND I DON'T LIKE IT.
ETA That The Bachelor is back on HDJM for all your douchetestant needs. :D

First, the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills was OUTSTANDING last night. For me to laugh at. Wow, the hubris is just baffling to me and also really funny. Here's my recap, and there's an excerpt right here for you to test drive: These people be cray. ) I have a ridiculous amount of fun writing these, and the Legolas/Yolanda jokes will never get old for me.

Second, Teen Wold has taken over my brain. I'm not complaining. Liz's recaps continue, for those not hip to the fact.

Third, Bomb Girls, a Canadian show, has started back up along with the recaps and we're pretty much the only place you can talk about the show, we've found. Laura M's recaps are right here.

Fourth, I appear to have written a Teen Wolf fic, for those inclined to read such things. It's posted here.

Fifth, I am downing TW/Sterek fic like there's no tomorrow and bookmarking fics I like. You can find those here, if you're curious. (More to come later.) Also, I'm finding that everything Helenish and Devildoll write up on Tumblr hits me right in my faves.

Sixth, I'm about to have a business meeting for the gardening show, which makes me happy, but before I sign off for the afternoon, I wanted to say thank you so, so much for all of the sweet messages and little bits of encouragement you've sent to me over the weeks. I really and truly appreciate them. <3
Glee last night made me incredibly happy. (Link goes to recap/discussion post.) This stupid story that I've been writing since the end of April (good god) actually has a moment in the beginning that happened on this episode. Prescient? LOL, no, there just was only one logical conclusion for a certain song to express a certain emotion. /zips lip to avoid spoilers.

Speaking of stories, did all of you Gleeks on my flist see that [livejournal.com profile] flaming_muse is posting a continuation to Near Misses? Because it starts here, is 5 parts, and #2 went up today. She's worked her tail off on it, so be lovely and tell her you like it, if you did.

There is the annual Love Meme up and running, and you should put your name there AND SHARE THE LINK so I can secretly send you praise! (I have only ever participated in these - meaning, putting my name in, I LOVE to leave comments to people - one time and was incredibly embarrassed to do so, but you know what? Screw that. I could use nice things said to me this year. Just if you feel so inclined.) <3

NOTE TO PEOPLE REPLYING ON THOSE THREADS: be sure that you hit the REPLY link under the person's name and not the "leave a comment" link. Because then there's an anonymous comment to the main post that no one knows who it belongs to. I always get sad when I see orphan comments, knowing someone didn't get their message. :(

We get to have a nice, long visit with The Boy tomorrow, so we're driving down tonight in order to have the whole day with him, before having to drive back tomorrow night. I need to find a Sally Derg-sitter to let her go potty in the morning, make sure everyone's packed up, make a million phone calls (true story: I loathe the phone) and transfer the twenty Sterek stories I dl'd off the AO3 to my Kindle. And THANK YOU for your recs the other day! <3
SkepChick.org is publishing my story/essay from earlier this week (and will mirror it on Queereka and TeenSkepChick.)

It's a fabulous site in the first place, and you should bookmark it and read it all the time, if you don't already. :)

Feel free to send people that link to their site instead of LJ, since LJ comes up with "Adult Content" notices, which might make people hesitant.

And now I fall over, because life is hard and I'm tired. <3

Happy Post

Oct. 26th, 2012 02:38 pm
I don't have a happy post. I'm wanting to build one with your help. It's been...rough today. Rougher than earlier this week, and that should say something.

What I'm Asking You To Do:
* comment with a happy story! ALL HAPPINESS, pls.
* comment with a funny gif or picture
* comment with a soundcloud song that makes you wriggle like a pup

What I'm Asking You To PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT Do:
* share a story of trauma, even if you've overcome it (I cannot take one more ounce today)
* half-full that glass :(
* put down anyone, even if you think they really deserve it. Even if it's Karl Rove. Okay, he and Ann Coulter are fair game.

I'll start things off with this:

:) (or go here! WHEE! CAT BOUNCE.)

If you don't know how to share images, go to tinypic.com. Upload your image. C&P the raw link, and in the comment type: [img src="http link.jpg/png/gif"] replacing the [ and ] with < and >. Linking TO something is [a href="httplink"]your word for it - butts[/a] changing [ and] to < and >.

Bookmark this page; come back to it when things are bad and you need a smile (or at least less of a frown). <3 Be good to each other. Look out for your sister/brother. Share the last piece of candy. :)
So if you see them (poor eyesight, dark brown) let me know. I'll pay for shipping.

Most of y'all know that I'm a Texas Master Gardener. As in, I'm all edjumacated and stuff about plants, soil, IPM, basic plant diseases and how to eradicate them, etc. Does this mean I have perfect knowledge? Of course not. But! I can give you a qualified "I don't know! But I'll find out." (But most of the problems people in this region have are so common, I typically have an answer. Rarely am I stumped.)

short but irritating story under the cut. )

And on that note, I am going to get some more woolly stemodia planted later today as a ground cover so it can do the work of tilling for me. (Also, you know that wonderful "country-clover" smell? It's not quite grass being cut, and there's a sweetness to it? That's the plant that makes it out here. I looooooooooove walking through my garden in the morning to wake up and smell that. <3) Note: that is a perennial plant for HOT climes. Sorry, Canada.
I spent the weekend pulling Bermuda grass out of my flower beds and my fingers were so sore yesterday, that I could barely type. They're still tender today, so I'm typing with my fingers flat and splayed out like some kind of idiot. *tappa tappa tappa* Just how much Bermuda grass? You know those 25 gallon paper refuse sacks you can get at Home Depot? Three of them. THREE. That Scheiße grows DEEP. And you have to get it all, or it just comes back. *cries* Stupid 115F summer where I couldn't get out there and pull it.

So...I'm running a contest for my writers - the top two popular writers for the month (hit count, comments and social media links - so LIKE and +1 and Tumble things you dig!) get a nice big chunk of change on Apr. 1. Won't you help them out by clicking and enjoying their hard work? And as always, we thank you for your support. :)

(I'm on the down-slide of this monster fic. 125K. I'm hoping to get it in by 150. WHAT THE HELL. Why, me? WHY?! And I've been writing alongside my VERY TOUGH beta, [livejournal.com profile] flaming_muse who will tell me to cut out things, so... OMG, I just want to be finished.) [/Spike laying on cross...]
Man, I loved that show. If only to sing along with the theme song. And if you don't know that I love Pee Wee's Big Adventure (and am not even ashamed that I can quote it top to bottom; Phil Hartman helped write the script!) then you don't know me at all. *cries* (Um, and please note that Pee Wee invented the iPad. Ahem. Okay, the concept. Still. <3)

So Pee Wee was on Top Chef Texas last night (and as I got together with a friend and we stayed up drinking and talking until after midnight - cry! - I've been racing and playing catch-up all morning. HERE IS THE RECAP.

Ringer is back, and Janey is on those recaps again. Make with the "like" and such to show appreciation, muchas gracias! <3
SouthLAnd - loads of people reading the recap, but no one wants to talk to me? Why do you hurt me, internet friends?
Merlin is soon to be up, so be sure to share love with Melody!

I am so hungry I could eat your face. I won't. But if something doesn't appear soon, it could get ugly, just be prepared.
Last night was both Hoarders (here's the recap) and the first part of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills reunion (that recap is here). This is the night that gives me fandom whiplash. (Is it fandom? I just enjoy the shows, honestly.) I would like to know why everyone is turning on my girlfriend Lisa Vanderpump. They need to get over themselves and learn how to laugh, because she is my spirit animal.

Tonight is Glee (and good LORD is it next to impossible to stay unspoiled for things. Even the ACTORS post spoilers!!) and the greatest show on TV that I hope you are watching, SOUTHLAND. They haven't lost an inch of trajectory on that show. And I'm determined to get C. Thomas Howell to retweet me. DETERMINED. lol.

If you go to our site (and why wouldn't you?) you'll see that we have some individual advertisers on the page now. Be sure to check out their pages (my buddy Johnny, the sculpture artist, is the owner of EyeCandy - he's currently working on a background for a Chanel photoshoot. His company travels all over the world to make kick ass stuff. His wife, Kristi, is the writer that recaps The Walking Dead, fyi. You can see why they have awesome Halloween parties, I'm sure. :D

(And I'm offering advertisers SERIOUSLY CHEAP RATES for the next two months. Contact me at heydontjudgeme[at]gmail.com for rates and info.)

ION: Check this amazing art that was made for my story, Where There's Smoke! That's pretty schweet, I gotta say.

ION2: I want these shoes like I want air. Pencil skirt? Check. Cashmere sweater? Check. ADD THESE SHOES AND PUT ME IN DON DRAPER'S OFFICE. Would also not complain about these brogans.

Jan. 7th, 2012 08:24 am
So we've added Merlin to the lineup on HDJM. Melody - a long-time fan - is getting a "so you want to watch the show, and it's in the fourth season?" post ready in a few days, but in the meantime, here's Season Four, Episode One - with Bingo card!

ALSO JUST UP: Supernatural and Vampire Diaries and in case some of you didn't remember, I dropped Jersey Shore. It's just...it's over, kids. I'm calling it: time of death: when Snooki lost all of our sympathy in Italy.

Okay, French toast and raspberries time! (Translation: Shredded wheat and lukewarm coffee. I'm too sleepy to do more than that.)
Author: Stoney
Title: Where There's Smoke [The EPILOGUE]
Rating: Fer Errbody (overall rated M: be old enough to not put me in jail, pls.)
Pairing: Kurt/Blaine, Wes and David friendship, mentions of former Finn/Rachel
Word Count: 2400/100,000
Warnings: Kurt finally hangs out at the fire station. Guess what happens? (Be prepared, my firefighter daughters, for intense situations)
Summary: Fireman AU. A few months down the road.
A/N: This wouldn't exist (no, truly, I almost deleted it) without the most amazing editor a person could ask for, [livejournal.com profile] flaming_muse. Any remaining errors fall squarely on her my shoulders. I AM SO OVERWHELMED BY YOUR RESPONSE. Unbelievably gratifying, thank you so much, each and every one of you.

It wasn’t usually this cold in New York City by November, but the weather apparently didn’t care to stick with the program and was running on a mid-January schedule. )
* Only one episode left to Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, and please PLEASE let Dana be there to talk about all of her money and being gauche. Recap from last night is live!
* Boardwalk Empire, American Horror Story and X-Factor posts are also up, go chat up Sally and Melody.
* As shows go into their mini-hiatus, things will quiet down at Hey, Don't Judge Me so my girls can have a nice, relaxing holiday break. (Sherlock will go up this weekend, and there will still be Glee from tonight's ep.) Thanks for all the support to our site, guys, it's appreciated. :)
* I really need my damn laptop back, because trying to write on a weetiny netbook is no fun. No me gusta.
* I am blown away by the response my fic has gotten, because I honestly and truly didn't expect more than maybe 5 people to read. Chrismakwanzukkah came early!
* speaking of, the next chapter will be going up right after this post.
* so I should get to it. (I get to have a day of pampering and get my hairs did. And if I may, having a handsome straight man as a hairdresser is pretty damn fab. Hmm, better put on makeup... Lol.)
I want to marry this girl and make drinks and bad jokes until we die from it.
