Yesterday was a no good, terrible, horrible day (partly) but today is decidedly better and brighter. Our plans to hit the aquarium via train and walking of four blocks has been curtailed by the OMG heat, so it's arts and crafts day, meaning I can play here while they cut and paste and add glittah (Little Shop of Horrors, anyone?) First links!

  • This is possibly the most disturbing and HILARIOUS video I've come across. (It's disturbing because I have serious bug fear.) But funny. It's FUNNY!! And there are bugs. Just watch the damn thing. IT IS WORKSAFE.

  • This is possibly the funniest Seussianesque slashy poetry ever written about a pirate and Commodore (ex, weren't you paying attention?) Norrington ever. SO. CLEVER. And naughty. (Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] cherusha for pointing the way.)

  • THIS is my new blog for gardening. I hope to make it a comprehensive site for learning about how to, etc. PLEASE: do not link back to THIS LJ. I don't need gardening people coming across (heh) my naughty posts, fics, etc. Call me EmGee (oh, I am CLEHVAH. M G, or master gardener.) I've made an LJ for it as well, and hopefully will create an RSS feed to update the LJ, so you'll get a notice if you friend it. POINT OF INTEREST: every weekend will be a Q&A session. Comment with questions, concerns, etc., and I will answer to the best of my abilities - or send you to someone who can help.

Now, POLL!! This is to make me laugh (unless you have the answers, in which case, I will be so very very happy.)
Okay, so this morning was definitely an Old SKool Hip Hop kind of morning. Run DMC, Ladies Love Cool James, etc. And I realize that for the most part on my flist, I am very, very alone with my love for hip hop. This is mostly what I think of as the golden age: 1984 -1992. Ya Bobby Browns. Ya Fresh Prince era. Heh. All write in, because that will generate the funniest answers. (Dave? I'm expecting you to ace this, my Hebrew brothah.)

(And if anyone wants any of these songs, I have them all in mp3 format.)

[Poll #767733]

[Poll #767734]

[eta]As expected, [livejournal.com profile] dlgood is in the lead with the most correct answers. [livejournal.com profile] annabelle528 takes the lead! WOOT!

Yeah? Man, those are the FREE components. I wish you could do the equivalent of an LJ cut, so it doesn't look so cluttered, but neither TypePad nor Blogger seem to offer that type of feature...

(thanks.) And also: thanks for your list of recs this morning! The current 'splosion in our fandom has left me a bit nervous about clicking on just anything. :D

I'm talking about the content, man. The content! You totally deserve a cookie.

It is my duty to spread the Norrington/Sparrington love, yes.

Dude, I dreamt Sparrington last night. And though I don't remember most of it, it did have Jack and Norrington all tied up together.

All the more run DMC Norrington for us!

Seriously, yo. It's not like Gillette was the only person to get booted. Anamaria, anyone?

Right, right, and while I loooooooved Tia Dalma (that actress NAILED the accent, hello, KENDRA.), although the characterization was a bit racist (and how cool would it be to find out that Anamaria is her DAUGHTER, and DAVY JONES' daughter????) she's not Anamaria.

I mean, SERIOUSLY!! It's SO MUCH FUN!! (And what's great is when you figure out what up and coming rapper was a back-up dancer for Digital Underground, heeeee!)

New Edition used to OWN MY SOUL. I'm not ashamed to admit that. Boyz2Men, ABC, BBD. (Never trust a big butt that smiles!)

Anamaria effing kicked! And is my kind of pirate (Anamaria > Liz, all I'm sayin'). She's retired and living on a pile of gold somewhere, yes. Your theory would be awesome if it happened. And yes, Naomi Harris is love!

Oh, and heh. Rappers don't seem to be concerned with proper grammar/spelling. So... WHO'S HOUSE?

(I'm going to upload all of these songs later, btw. Wheee!)

(HA YAY. Dude, these all take me back to my fourth grade talent show. A bunch of the boys from our small-town version of The Projects break-danced [broke-danced?] to The Humpty Dance.)

Ahahahaha! FOURTH GRADE?? That song is FILTHY!

Actual moments in my youth:
* 7th grade history class (Texas) rapped to "Rapping Duke", but changed it to the tale of The Alamo for the end of the year project. Actually sewed coordinating jackets for my "back up dancers."
* 8th grade speech tournament, rapped "Roxanne, Roxanne" for a poetry reading competition. Soundly lost.
* 9th grade: learn how to pop/lock, Roger Rabbit, etc. Think I look AWESOME on the dance floor. Not sure if I do, but I THINK IT.
* 11th grade in the hallway. One of the freaks (heavy metal dudes) whispered that he heard I was into rap, and could I sneak him some music without telling any one. hahahaha!
* current: this series of quizes.

DUDE THAT SPEECH TOURNAMENT. You should've won. I sort of want to become a teacher just so I can be sponsor for geek squads like forensics teams and Quiz Bowl teams, and so I can mess with kids' heads.

Yeah, fourth grade. *grins*

Well, you hung on to that title for a looooong time. (Annabelle has just barely squeaked past you, homes.)

Links to music (and answers) up later, if you're interested! (I love that one respondant corrected the grammar on one of the rap lyrics. Heee! That's like offering a free ethics/morality seminar to SS commanders, or something less offensive, SHEESH, LAURA.)

WOW. That's like all of the "drill team" dance squad type things in Utah for six year olds where they dress like hookers, wear makeup, and do routines to Britney SPears songs or lascivious dance-pop, but it's ADORABLE! Because they're six.
