I read the Captive Prince books (trilogy, only 1&2 are out) and really enjoyed them, aside from them being somewhat rapey, but that's what you get with a slave fic, right? I didn't read the fine print. But! I still really liked the world building and am invested in the characters, so I'll be reading #3

I wrote about playing Hip Hop during church (when I was a Gospel Doctrine teacher) and that might amuse you. :)

I tweeted the new ChuckD song, got retweeted by him, and am now being followed by loads of Hip Hop twitter accounts, and I feel like this gives me street cred, lol /whitewoman

I posted a recipe on my blog in which I get increasingly frustrated and drunk (because of who I was cooking with. The recipe - one pot pasta - was super straightforward and easy)

I need a haircut. I also need a buddy who lives on my block so I can go have lunch and talk gay protagonists while sipping mojitos =/

5. Free For All Friday, WINE. CHEESE. MAYBE PR0NY PICS OR LINKS. It's a wildcard. like me.

HEY. I am hungry like nobody's business, but I'm waiting for my girls to get their buns downstairs so we can go eat. TEENAGERS, pfft.

ION, I was carded at the liquor store yesterday, and I don't even care if the guy was smarmy and salesman-ish, because I WILL TAKE THAT. That shizz will fuel me like nobody's business.

ION 2, I've been posting a bunch of TW fic lately, including the latest one this weekend, an Amnesia/fake-pretend relationship fic called BLACK OUT DAYS. I'm having a lot of fun playing in that fandom, I have to say. The show is kind of crap in that the writing isn't good or cohesive, but the ACTORS. They are giving 110% (which is mathematically impossible and yet) and are so pretty and just trying to subvert their creator at every turn. I approve. And when I don't: I fic.

5. The old BFF is coming in for a visit this weekend and I am going to jam bird seed into her hands, since she doesn't eat normal food. (I am teasing you Vegans. Sort of. OMG I don't want to hear it, okay?)
6. I bought some cool fingernail polish at Sephora this weekend that is METALLIC PEACOCK and I NEVER paint my nails, but my daughter made me paint my thumb and I liked it and here we are.
7. Oh! I won a prize at Nordstroms, apparently, and it was CHANEL AND LANCOME MAKEUP/PERFUME/ETC. Like, full sizes and everything! Which is awesome because I never win stuff and I never buy myself makeup unless it's an emergency makeup situation. (ahaha - spell check is telling me Lancome should be COME-CON. WORST. CONVENTION. EVER.)
8. I also bought a fabulous pair of heels this weekend that are peacock colors (teal blue and teal green) and they make me feel awesome and tall.
9. These are all important things because it appears that I am FINALLY GOING ON A VACATION, and that is to LA in December to attend Trevor Live with

flaming_muse and we are in the GOOD SEATS. Like, rubbing elbows with the elite seats. Mama wants to look good. (So excited, omg.)
10. On my run this morning I encountered two rascals, a German Shepherd and a Pit Bull who had broken free to chase ducks in the pond. They were dripping wet, grinning from ear to ear, and let me check their collars like nice puppies. I got them home and they gave me many hand licks and knee-rubs as thanks.

...I mentioned they were dripping wet, right? LOL. So stinky (but so sweet!).

BUNDT LOVERS! Wait, come back!!

Ahaha, guys, I love big bundts and I cannot lie. YEAH. I'M OFFICIALLY REVERTING TO DAD HUMOR. But it's important! Williams-Sonoma has a Star of David bundt pan! THIS IS RELEVANT TO MY INTERESTS. Because I'm interested in making delicious cake for my Jewish friends, you see.

In other news, I have made 2 pounds (literally) of hummus today because apparently that is my favorite snack? Toasted bread with a thick schmear of hummus? NOM NOM.

I can't get anything done and so I online window shop. /pathetic

Is anyone aware of a shelter/organization with a proven track record in Houston for abused women? I'm not looking for what can be googled, I'm looking for a place that is KNOWN to help women get out of situations right after being contacted, for a place/organizations that is known for maintaining anonymity for their safety and a place that can deal with an abused woman who has children.

This person is a business executive who will need help regaining control over her finances, but take away that this means she won't require long-term placement in a shelter, just that push to get legal balls rolling.

I am leaving this post open on the chance that anyone scrolling by in the HOUSTON, TX area might see this. ETA If so, PLEASE MESSAGE ME OR COMMENT HERE and I will [privately] get you in contact with the SAFE PLACE to help you.

You absolutely need to watch this lecture series by John Cleese on how to be creative, how to ALLOW YOURSELF to be creative, and how to make it happen again and again. Creativity shouldn't be lightning in a jar.

Absolutely brilliant.

And may I say that years ago, when I learned that Monty Python kept bankers' hours (and believed the SNL method of doing coke and staying up for 36 hours to write sketches was stupid), I realized that it meant that one way wasn't THE way. When you're trying to follow in footsteps of giants, it's okay to take a path alongside them (and dip into the woods and go a different way, actually).

First, the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills was OUTSTANDING last night. For me to laugh at. Wow, the hubris is just baffling to me and also really funny. Here's my recap, and there's an excerpt right here for you to test drive: ( These people be cray. ) I have a ridiculous amount of fun writing these, and the Legolas/Yolanda jokes will never get old for me.

Second, Teen Wold has taken over my brain. I'm not complaining. Liz's recaps continue, for those not hip to the fact.

Third, Bomb Girls, a Canadian show, has started back up along with the recaps and we're pretty much the only place you can talk about the show, we've found. Laura M's recaps are right here.

Fourth, I appear to have written a Teen Wolf fic, for those inclined to read such things. It's posted here.

Fifth, I am downing TW/Sterek fic like there's no tomorrow and bookmarking fics I like. You can find those here, if you're curious. (More to come later.) Also, I'm finding that everything Helenish and Devildoll write up on Tumblr hits me right in my faves.

Sixth, I'm about to have a business meeting for the gardening show, which makes me happy, but before I sign off for the afternoon, I wanted to say thank you so, so much for all of the sweet messages and little bits of encouragement you've sent to me over the weeks. I really and truly appreciate them. <3

Glee last night made me incredibly happy. (Link goes to recap/discussion post.) This stupid story that I've been writing since the end of April (good god) actually has a moment in the beginning that happened on this episode. Prescient? LOL, no, there just was only one logical conclusion for a certain song to express a certain emotion. /zips lip to avoid spoilers.

(I have only ever participated in these - meaning, putting my name in, I LOVE to leave comments to people - one time and was incredibly embarrassed to do so, but you know what? Screw that. I need to find a Sally Derg-sitter to let her go potty in the morning, make sure everyone's packed up, make a million phone calls (true story: I loathe the phone) and transfer the twenty Sterek stories I dl'd off the AO3 to my Kindle. Most of y'all know that I'm a Texas Master Gardener. As in, I'm all edjumacated and stuff about plants, soil, IPM, basic plant diseases and how to eradicate them, etc. Does this mean I have perfect knowledge? Of course not. But! I can give you a qualified "I don't know! But I'll find out." (But most of the problems people in this region have are so common, I typically have an answer. Rarely am I stumped.)

And on that note, I am going to get some more woolly stemodia planted later today as a ground cover so it can do the work of tilling for me. (Also, you know that wonderful "country-clover" smell? It's not quite grass being cut, and there's a sweetness to it? That's the plant that makes it out here. I looooooooooove walking through my garden in the morning to wake up and smell that. <3) Note: that is a perennial plant for HOT climes. Sorry, Canada.

I spent the weekend pulling Bermuda grass out of my flower beds and my fingers were so sore yesterday, that I could barely type. They're still tender today, so I'm typing with my fingers flat and splayed out like some kind of idiot. *tappa tappa tappa* Just how much Bermuda grass? You know those 25 gallon paper refuse sacks you can get at Home Depot? Three of them. THREE. That Scheiße grows DEEP. And you have to get it all, or it just comes back. *cries* Stupid 115F summer where I couldn't get out there and pull it.

Man, I loved that show. If only to sing along with the theme song. And if you don't know that I love Pee Wee's Big Adventure (and am not even ashamed that I can quote it top to bottom; Phil Hartman helped write the script!) then you don't know me at all. *cries* (Um, and please note that Pee Wee invented the iPad. Ahem. Okay, the concept. Still. <3)

Last night was both Hoarders (here's the recap) and the first part of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills reunion (that recap is here). This is the night that gives me fandom whiplash. (Is it fandom? I just enjoy the shows, honestly.) I would like to know why everyone is turning on my girlfriend Lisa Vanderpump. They need to get over themselves and learn how to laugh, because she is my spirit animal.

Tonight is Glee (and good LORD is it next to impossible to stay unspoiled for things. Even the ACTORS post spoilers!!) and the greatest show on TV that I hope you are watching, SOUTHLAND. They haven't lost an inch of trajectory on that show. And I'm determined to get C. Thomas Howell to retweet me. DETERMINED. lol.
