I've uploaded caps from 1x03 to my LJ gallery, which you can view here. And as always, should you make some icons, hey! I'd love to see them! :D

So this show gets better and better. I think they're going one direction (focusing on getting Saracen into real QB1 position) and then they pull out VooDoo. Is that the most perfect name for that character? He was giving me the wiggins. You could tell he was scared - hell, he was Jason Street before Katrina hit.

The whole idea of farming these kids out - the coach was there in the hotel room! - bothers me. But I like that they're being real. Matt drops Pre-Calc. I like that the Coach's wife is making him promise to pick it back up in the off season. MATT. I want more of that kid. He breaks my heaert with his honesty, in his lack of faith in himself, but his growing faith in the coach.

TIM. Oh, Tim. I want to know his story. I love that his brother isn't being hard on him because Tim's a bad kid, but his brother is an ass. And Tim's a bad kid. But not! Mrs. Street reminding him that he can come have Tuesday dinner, even though Jason's not there. How Tim always ALWAYS says "yes, ma'am" and "yes, sir." How he's best friends with the nicest and most likely To Be in the school, with the perfect Christian girlfriend, and he's the most messed up. Because that's how it is. I want to know what led him to the path of being an alcoholic cynic at the age of 17. (And the fact that coach made him walk home in the rain was awesome. Nice rebirth. I hope it sticks.)

Lyla. She gets on my nerves. EXCEPT that I love her character. And I think the first time she was really Lyla was when she was screaming at Tim "why won't you help me?" and then kissed him passionately. That's who she really is. (imo. Heh.) The guilt at finding urine on her boyfriend's leg and sheets. Jason's utter shame.

GOOD GOD this show is voyeristic. But in a totally good way. And for those of you that missed it, here's the ep. And for those of you that can't be convinced to watch a show based on superior acting, excellent writing, and formidable storytelling, how about a little eye candy?

I give you: Tim Riggins. (I'm totally into Matt, but I get that nice guys finish last around here.)

And the sweet kid who STOLE MY HEART, Matt Saracen. Ungh.

Heh. QB1 and nice guy? That's my type.

I'm totally with you on the FNL love. This show is developing into all kinds of awesome. I love so many of the characters already and to cause that much love this fast means that they are definitely doing something right. I love Jason. I love Tim. I love Coach Taylor and his wife Tami. And I felt for Lyla (and come on, the kiss with Tim was hawt-- even if I don't want them to become a couple). And Matt is also great.

Basically, this show is too good to cancel. I don't want it to be cancelled! (NBC is giving Studio 60s time slot to FNL on the 30th to see if FNL can hold more of Heroes audience. Here's hoping that it does. )

I did see that about the time swap, which would be awesome! Heroes is a huge hit, so that would be a big boost to the ratings.

I LOVE THEM ALL. All the small characters. Even the really horrible guys like Buddy Garrity. They're all so compelling!

Yeah. I had this weird shock when I went onto a TWOP Forum - mostly to answer stuff in the "explain football to me" threads. And there are people who like seeing terrible stuff happen to Street and want to see him suffer more. As though he needs to be broken.

Which, I think, isn't the point. Street, IMHO, doesn't need to suffer beyond what's pretty much the realistic outcome of his new lot. There was a guy in my area, Tim Strachan, who was a Jason Street - he was the perfect young man, great QB, National Caliber recruit committed to going to Maryland. But he broke his neck diving into the water at the beach and was paralyzed from the waist.

The school honored his scholarship offer, and he's now a broadcaster here.

If we want to watch the broken boy, that's Tim. Street is more along the lines of the better we could hope to be. He's actually a decent kid - not just playing the part, but it's really who he is. But he's not so idealized and beyond human that he can't flip out on his annoyingly chipper girlfriend.

If Saracen is the blooming ugly duckling underdog, Street's the genuine good guy. I can be plenty cynical, and that guy is sometimes out of fashion, but I like having a humanized heroic character in addition to the anti-heroes. He's pretty real. [/pontification]

I really like this episode. My favorite characters are Tim and Matt, but I love how this episode gave us a lot of insight on Tim's personality. I love how he cried when the coach tried to convince him that Jason's injury was not his fault, though even though he said "yes sir" to the coach, I don't think he's really convinced. ahdjhfa

hahaha, I suck. I've since fixed it. :) Thank you for the heads up! ANd yeah - I don't think he's really convinced, either. But I think he's got a way out of beating himself up all the way, you know?

Oh, Dave. YES. I mean, I like broken men in THEORY. But give me a guy that tries, has a good heart, and does by right by those around him every time. I love how Matt really loves his Grandma and tells it straight, but doesn't try and make it a big deal. I love that Jason Street knows everything about his team, that he's a true leader, as evidenced by his team falling apart without him there.

I love that moment in the first game when he tell Coach Taylor it's okay for the coach to win, his statement accepted as an equal.

And that is awesome about that guy you went to school with. How amazing that he's where he is, but KEE-RIST, does that make me cringe to think about.

Yeah, it's amazing what Strachan did with his life. Because I would have been miserable and never made anything but sat on my ass reading and depressed. Still doesn't make up for not having legs in my book, but impressive.

To this point, everything about this show has worked for me.

Oh, I totally agree. And I like Jason for it. And he really doesn't need a greater challenge than the one he is currently faced with because that alone is huge.

Oh chile, how did I miss that this has boys holding hands??? And how bad is it that I find that to be really hot? Also, to tide me over, can I get a description of the boys holding hands? I won't be able to watch until I get home from work, IF it's done downloading by then.

*damn people in the house that think their use of my wireless connection is more important just because I'm not home*

Okay, so the captains hold hands to talk to the other captains. If you get a chance, check out the screencaps I linked up above. Yow. Not to mention all of the slamming into each other, tackling, shower/locker room scenes, broken bad boy drinking himself naked and crying over his best friend...

COME ON! I mean... it's PERFECT. :D

Hahahahaha - I knew what you meant. I do that ALL the time, myself.

The great thing is you don't HAVE to know the intricacies of football to enjoy this show - and if you DO know the game, it gives it another level of enjoyment. WHEN IS TUESDAY HERE AGAIN??
