You might want to read this thread (http://news.livejournal.com/98422.html?thread=44497270#t44497270) from the news post. It sounds like the rename token is only useable on accounts that have been deleted by the users, not on undeleted but unused accounts. They won't purge the account until the user deletes it themselves. :(

I just read that whole thing. And... the owner of the "stoney" account has an invalid email account. So. Frustrating. I get both sides of the issue, just- geh. *grabby hands*

I totally understand. There are other sites (not LJ, obviously) where 'elfgirl' had already been taken by time I got there and with almost every one of them, it was someone who signed up and then never. came. back.

It's like, why sign up and sit on a username if you're not going to USE it? Meh.
