Can I play witcho panty line?" Those lyrics never fail to crack me up. AWESOME HAPPY WONDERFUL MOOD TODAY, PEEPS. I have links for you, I have music for you, and I have a joy joy joy joy down in my heart (where?) Down in my heart! Lynne, those Rod/Tod Flanders moments were just for you. I will bullet point and under-cut things to be organized:
  • I have re-initiated my crush on Tim Gunn with his new show on Bravo. I am also equipped with a positive attitude towards clothes shopping today and will look to follow his rules. Also, for those of you on my flist with difficult to fit busts, he had three FANTASTIC online shops that cater to LARGE breasts (and show you how to get the right fit/support.) Bigger Bras, Lingerie Mart, and Ehow
  • I was runner up for the Sotha Awards for Best Andrew Fic, and since I came in second to [livejournal.com profile] entrenous88 I consider that high praise indeed! (What I Did On My Summer Vacation, By Andrew Wells) Thank you so much to whoever nominated me and those that voted! I NEVER win awards, so I'm very grateful for the kind thoughts!
  • I have been listening to happy-making music. Rules for happy music: makes me move, makes me sing, makes me do a shimmy in my pants. Music under the cut for dl'ding.
  • I would like to dare each of you to do something ridiculous today. You may choose from my suggestions, or pick your own and lemme know what you did! You can A) do a dance move from Michael Jackson's Thriller video (I personally will be doing the squat, head shimmy, overhead hand clap) or B) your impression of John Cleese's silly walk or C) something goofy of your own choosing, perhaps chair dancing while rolling up the hallway in your office? *G*

Song list:

  • Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Down Boy. Okay, I love this group. Every song isn't a hit, but when they hit, I LOVE them. Dark and naughty.

  • Bee Gees - Jive Talkin'. I can't hear this without seeing Justin Timberlake as Robin Gibb. "I'm from Sydney and I will kick your ass!! You have something to say, Robin?" "...no."

  • Feathermerchants - Change my Night. This is a lot like Massive Attack and Portishead. Dreamy and smoky.

  • Afro Celt Sound System - When you're Falling. Peter Gabriel's side project in the 90s. That should be enough, right?

  • Beastie Boys - Body Movin' & Three MCs and One DJ. I dare you to sit still with a grumpy face. Double dog dare. (Mixmaster Mike, what you got to say? Goddamn that DJ made my day!)

  • Cap'n & Tenille - Love Will Keep Us Together. Shut it. It's the Cap'n! Also, I'm a music schizophrenic.

  • Corrine Bailey Rae - I'd Like To. This song is so 70s soul groovetastic. It makes me want to watch Crooklyn just for the music/dance/'fros.

  • Metadata - FaFaFa. Fun dance/techno-ish groove.

  • Fergie - London Bridges. OH SHIT. (Um - parents: warning for language on this.) I love this song, even though i haaaaaate Ferga-"pee pants"-licious. I wanted us to do a closing credits number with me dressed in my WT costume from the movie (and the others in their costume) dancing and lip synching to this, a la Judd Apatow, but we couldn't afford the song rights. Bah.

  • Duran Duran - Girls On Film. Take a picture! Remember how scandalous this video was? If you don't because you weren't born yet, I don't want to hear it.

  • Magic Numbers - Love Me Like You. I love this pop band. LOVE. Perfect, tight little songs that are fun to sing to.

  • Peter Gabriel/Deep Forest - While the Earth Sleeps. Another side project of his from the 90s, and another great song to move to.

  • Ray Charles - I Got A Woman. Try and sing this without adding the "Golddigger" lyrics. :D

  • Stray Cats - Sexy & 17. I loved this song/vid when it first came out. And I wanted a sexy girl tiger on my shoulder with big pinned curls on my head and a hot guy in a leather coat and a motorcycle. Basically, I wanted to be a feminine Leather Tuscadero with the Fonz as my beau, apparently...

Also: what?! I like the line "we know you have many options for portable stripper poles, and are grateful for your choosing Lil' Mynx Poles." There are MANY options for this?! Ahahaha! "...having personally owned a pole for years..." That's what he said! :D

Ray Charles - I Got A Woman. Try and sing this without adding the "Golddigger" lyrics. :D It cannot be done. I was playing it... and all of a sudden, my roommate starts singing Golddigger.

I am so ashamed that I cannot separate the two songs anymore :(

I'm listening to Fa-Fa-Fa right now and loving it. Thanks so much for all the music! If my project manager doesn't ever get around to contacting me about the database I plan to organize the cabinets in our family room and turn this great music up *loud* to keep me happy while I'm doing it. I'm sure I'll look ridiculous dancing around the room while I toss stuff this way and that...

:-)

Hey, congratulations on the award! I love love love your Andrew fic. We love Andrew, don't we? You write him very well.

I love that you've got a break this morning - nothing like NOT being under the gun, right?

I've been cranking music up in my house all week when the chillins are in school. Dancing around in your empty house = GREAT DAY.

My husband and I flew to Seattle to see The Magic Numbers! They weren't touring anywhere near us Texans, and were playing the same weekend as The Fountains of Wayne. We had to go, full stop. They're a fantastic live band, translating those pristine pop harmonies into full on wall of rock.

I am listening to "Forever Lost" right this minute. Stoney, you rock out loud.

Oooo, Gift for You

I just heard this fabulous reggae cover of "I Got a Woman" the other day. *goes to look it up* Hmm... I think it might have been Toots & the Maytals, but I'm not sure. It was on the radio while I was driving. Anyway, it was really cool. I love that song, but yeah, I keep wanting to add the Golddigger parts. And when I heard the cover, I kept expecting Jamie Foxx's voice.

Oh Stoney. That Peter Gabriel/Deep Forest song is making my heart ache with how much I love it. Thank you for sharing it! It reminds me of Enigma's "Return to Innocence." I'm going to copy you and post some happy songs on my LJ shortly. Good idea. :)

(And I TOTALLY sing 'Golddigger' with the Ray Charles song. It's un-possible not to!)

We have been making removable poles longer and better than anyone else.

*is twelve*

I have happy music for nerds, if you want. I got nearly all of the songs available at Jonathan Coulton's website (www.jonathancoulton.com) before our drive from Georgia to Virginia a couple weeks ago, and a bunch of them are really funny. The Ramones were my happy music for at least two years straight, at one point, but I don't think I have any access to those tracks from work. Oh! I have Carbon Leaf, though. They're excellent, kind of punk!Irish/Appalachian... very good happy music.

I am so freaking ADD.

If Tim Gunn wasn't gay I would TOTALLY jump his shit. He's way WAY classier than those Queer Eye guys. He's just soooo freaking cool.

Mmmmm Tim Gunn chosen wardrobe.... ::drools::

Ooooh, I'll go check out Limewire and see if I can snag a copy.

And seriously, I heard the original and thought it was a fake because I've gotten used to Jamie Foxx's voice! Um... I'm lame, yes.

Also: I just got back from buying TWO pairs of jeans that made my ass look good and a pair of sexy heels. Let's go out Friday and shake our moneymakers. :D

That's unpossible! Oh, Ralphie... Dying tickles!

Isn't that song wonderful??? That song and the one with Afro Celt Sound System make my soul GLOW. And now I'm singing the theme song from "Tha SOOOOOOOOUUUUUUL Glooooooow!" Hee!

Pretty much everything Peter Gabriel has done in the past twenty years = gold. Please tell me you have the soundtrack to The Last Temptation of Christ. It is ACHINGLY beautiful. I can hook a sistah up with some of it, if needs be!!
