Dec. 21st, 2007 10:33 amBy which I mean that I have the DVDs for Freaks and Geeks, and will be inhaling those at an alarming rate. (Dude, I love this show!! I'm only on ep 2, so no spoilers!) I'm kind of digging the WGA strike, because I'm catching up on shows I didn't get to watch due to time constraints. Next up: Battlestar Galactica. Gotta get the DVDs first...
HAVE A WONDERFUL CHRISMAKWANZANUKKAHMAS! (And happy Solstice/Hogmanay/Sanghamitta/Wren/Yule Day to those that observe! And for my fellow atheists, Happy Tuesday! *G*)
- Fry's has all of the Angel: The Series sets for 19.99 EACH. Man - where was that deal when I was buying them? (Also check the SUPER CHEAP Supernatural DVDs)
- If you have a boy you need to buy for (next year) you can take a design they've made, send it to LEGO.com, and they'll MAKE IT FOR YOU. And send instructions for how to build it! How awesome is that? (Check out the house plans there, too. That's what I always did with Legos when I was a kid.)
- My children have STILL not figured out that I leave clues for what is inside their packages, in the form of the "from" name. (It's never from Mom and Dad.) For adults, it's just random names like Chancellor Velorum or Miss Kitty Fantastico. Why have a normal name when you can be cracked out? <-- my motto for living
- If you need to buy for younger kids (next year) bookmark WOODKINS - as a mother of three, I can tell you without reservation that everything here is AWESOME. Especially to stow in a bag for unexpected waits, like in a dr.s office, etc. Yay imagination!
- I want SO BADLY to post our "holiday letter" and photo, but cannot until the actual day of Santamas, because a few of my RL friends on LJ are getting them, and I don't want to... spoil it. *g* I'll post it on the 25th
- I am going to eat good Southern Indian food today, and I'm very excited. Mmm, curry potato crepes, here I come!
HAVE A WONDERFUL CHRISMAKWANZANUKKAHMAS! (And happy Solstice/Hogmanay/Sanghamitta/Wren/Yule Day to those that observe! And for my fellow atheists, Happy Tuesday! *G*)

Date: 2007-12-21 10:27 pm (UTC)I can't believe it's already another Christmas and I am not able to celebrate it with parents, woe. I want lights, song, and snow, dammit! Here we're on dreary rain season. And you have me craving Indian food now. I've never tasted curry potato crepes and they sound delicious.
OMG I have to tell you, because apparently I have to tell everyone: I'm going to be a writer for a show on ShanghaiTV. Which means I have quit the nightmare pr job with the nightmare boss and am actually going to be working in television. *squees* Best Christmas present I received this year!no subject

Date: 2007-12-22 03:05 am (UTC)Remind me to write you a note sometime about why I started crying in the kitchen one evening this week listening to some Christmas carols. Too long a story to go into now (ten o'clock here and I'm going to turn into a pumpkin) but it's something I'm thinking of putting down into words. Nathan thought it was because the song was too sad. :-)

Date: 2007-12-22 03:54 pm (UTC)I wonder if Evan might get back into them, though. My boy went through a similar phase, about 8 years old at the time. When they let go of things you loved to see them love, it's hard. I was sad when Emily called "Dora" a show for babies. :( But... who's that super cool exploradora?
And I'm right there with you on holiday music. Growing up with a choir master, it was ALL about CHristmas music. I still get completely thrilled (and emotionally overcome) by certain songs. "Once in Royal David's City" stands as my all time favorite, along with Berlioz's "The Shepherds' Farewell" as a close second.
I definitely want to hear your tale!! *hugs you* (Also, keep your eyes peeled on a brown package!)

Date: 2007-12-22 03:57 pm (UTC)That is the BEST news in the history of news!!! How freaking wonderful! I am VERY proud of you, and tchuh - you will be AWESOME.
(And I am so sorry that you are so far away from mom and dad! *hugs* Are they going to try and come out, or anything like that? I send you hugs and smooches for this holiday, regardless!)

Date: 2007-12-22 04:02 pm (UTC)My step-mom - who is one of the BEST gift-givers for children in the history of children's gifts - turned me on to that place when The Boy and #2 were small. The little doll you can dress by laying scraps of fabric down and laying the top wooden piece down? Hands down, the fave. Plus, when Miss C's mom has extra scraps of fabric, you can use little squares of it for the toy! There's a magnet/doll world gift, too, that was a big hit. And it's all self-contained. It's like Colorforms, but chunky magnet pieces! (Man, I loooooved Colorforms when I was a kid!)
Um... my energy levels from a few nights ago haven't dropped yet. *g*

Date: 2007-12-23 07:31 pm (UTC)Though I can see why it didn't "make it." The viewers who were cool kids want nothing to do with the geeks/freaks--and the viewers who weren't suffer too much from watching their old horrors played out.
Those of us who like torture, however, are rewarded.
