tkp and I think I officially need to go to the store and buy a DVD of Anne of Green Gables, because honestly! Why don't I have that on DVD? Scandalous!) Happy birthday to

Oh, I had such a great weekend with
southernbangel. True facts: She's 10 feet tall, she can eat an entire ham while on a unicycle, she can recite all of Proust while drinking a glass of water, and she's an absolutely fabulous house guest, if a little too polite for her own good. ;) If you guessed that I fell asleep a few times because I'm lame, then you're a freaking stalker who obviously spied on us. In my defense: I did a 60 mile walk just days before and hadn't fully recovered, we drank several bottles of wine, and it was midnight. (I'm old - I'm all impressed now when I stay up after 11.) She continues on her plan to convince my husband that all women should know every minute detail about every football team ever. Last night as we were watching the Cowboys (I do NOT want to hear it, seriously. I'm so heartbroken over my team, and they finally limped back. Shut it, haters) and when I couldn't name the player that hit another random player in a game two years ago, he asked me to get Lee on the phone. (Lee doesn't even watch the NFL.) I'm being outsourced!
I started up on some crochet projects this weekend, and they are turning out cute. One is a scarf for the BFF that is Tim Burton-inspired. (Meaning: black and white stripes with a random shot of color here and there.) Damn, I wish I knew how to knit. I need someone to sit with me and hold my hands to get me started. I can't learn that stuff from books. Oooh, does anyone know of a website that has videos of knitting techniques, like the crochet site I linked to last year? That would be super.
I'm about to take my kitchen apart and re-arrange the shelves. I wish I had a professional organizer - I want compartments and drawers and cubbies for everything. Yes, I went to Ikea this weekend, and now I have a sickness. (All of their cabinets and drawers have anti-slam features!!! Ooooh, how I want.)
Okay, this show is MIND BOGGLINGLY STUPID. We know this. I'm just continually shocked every week by how stupid it is. Sookie Stackhouse: you suck. You're nothing like the witty, sarcastic, innocent southern girl in the books. Anna Paquin: stop being dead eyes. She just randomly stares at people, as if that is supposed to convey ANYTHING.
Now, while I'm bothered that the show is the Jason Stackhouse show, at least the actor can ACT. See how his eyebrows move? His face contorts? That's called ACTING. He's conveying how he FEELS. Isn't that wonderful? Now pay attention, Anna.
Raise your hand if you wanted to smack the new vampire on the head. That could have been interesting, it started off interesting, but then I just got irritated. Thank god for hot Ass Eric being sarcastic.
Raise your hand if you wanted Tara to die when she ran into that tree? Or for her Mama to drop dead when she came to visit her? That way we wouldn't have to hear about their souls and day-muns no more. BTW, the actress that plays Tara? DAMN. Her muscles?? Jesus please us.
And while I've known all along that Rene was the killer, it sucks that the one person that attempted a coon-ass accent and nailed it is going to be gone come the finale. Also, I'm tired of the wtfuckness of Sookie just randomly kissing Sam. Sam I get. He's clearly had a thing for her. But Dead Eyes? She just stares, spouts words, then kisses him. Then starts shouting - all with her deal, soulless eyes....
And I had no problem with Amy dying, because I was SIIIIICK of how everything was "beautiful." Take a bath, hippie, and wash that patchoulie stink off yourself.
GOD. That show is such craaaaaaaaap! Head's up: I don't care if you like it. I don't need to hear that you like it. It's crap, imo. You can like it all you want in your journal. :D
I cannot stress how happy I am that Twilight the movie is almost here. AHAHAHAHA, hoooooo, that is going to be such fun crap! I can't wait to see it and mock. *fist pump* I've been getting linked all over the place for my LDS Sparkledammerung series, which is v v cool, but understand that I'm not always able to reply to every comment. No offense meant, I just don't have all the free time in the world, that's all. (And I'm seriously behind on my NaNoWriMo count, argh!!)
Now watch me contradict myself by writing more True Blood/Twilight crap dialogue fic. \o/
[ETA] sorry for the broken tag, and I hope I didn't spoil anyone... Mea culpa!
This post is random, and all over the place. One last thing: does anyone have a really good quality pumpkin pie/dessert recipe that is elegant? Meaning, I don't want a pie that looks like a standard issue pumpkin pie. Anyone?

Date: 2008-11-17 03:23 pm (UTC)Dude. Come to Writercon, and we will have a Knitters & Hookers special interest group meeting. ::nods wisely:: I will teach you to knit, and you will teach me to crochet.
Trueblood...::sigh:: It's SO BAD. You know, I could almost resign myself to Alan Ball just running off in some random direction if the storyline made any fucking sense and we didn't have a crappy actress in the lead.
It's like watching a fucking train wreck. Why can't we get directors/producers who actually like the genre?

Date: 2008-11-17 03:34 pm (UTC)RE: knitting -- yarn stores (real yarn stores, not your craft store with acrylic) usually offer classes where you can sit down with experienced knitters and learn.
RE: pumpkin pie -- I have a recipe for a pie that pretty much looks like a standard pumpkin pie, but is a little different. I want to say it's pumpkin chiffon, but I can't remember. I'll check when I'm home. I don't eat it, but those who have have said it's better than the regular stuff.

Also, your post was indirectly referenced in the mmost recent podcast (#36) that hasn't been posted yet. Funny stuff.

Also, True Blood is crack! I wouldn't claim to know anything about the South, being from Germany and all but the storytelling is just preposterous! Ahahahahhahahaha. I've only had pecan pie here in North Carolina and that looked very different from that lame excuse of a baked good. The goo was gross.

Date: 2008-11-17 06:43 pm (UTC)And I'm happy to see that even from Germany you can clearly see that True Blood is terrible characterization/storytelling. Just horrid. Tchus!
And you must have had a PROPER pecan pie, which is maybe the best pie on earth. It's my fave, at least. ;)

Also, I hate AP's acting. She was the same in the X-men movies. She's just awful.
I like Rene, too. Well, his accent.
I HATE both Bill and Sookie. If the show was actually about Jason or the Pam and Eric I would happily tune in. Jason cracks me up because he's just SO STUPID.

Date: 2008-11-17 09:31 pm (UTC)It sucks so thoroughly, so completely, that I am absolutely baffled at anyone being able to say with a straight face that it doesn't. And there are little things that could be good, if they all weren't so stupid. Eric, Pam, the new "Social Worker" which is a nice twist on how she appeared in Book 2, which is to say it's an improvement all around.
I want to smack Tara, Sookie, and Bill, and possibly set Jason's crotch on fire just to kill the likely crabs nesting there. But yes, his stupidity is entertaining, and the actor is TRYING, which is more than the others.
Anna Paquin. I can imagine the crew on set shaking their heads every time she opens her mouth. Her stupid inability to STAND normally bugs me, too. AUGH! ;)
