I know what you mean. I feel too that the most extreme in both directions are the loudest and stamp their feet and demand their needs be met, much like rotten two-year-olds and instead of being firm, rational, and good parents the people on either side who skew toward the middle figure if they step back and let the child scream it'll eventually stop.
I don't know a damn thing about child rearing other than I don't want to do it, but it's certainly not working out in politics.
