More pimping, a birthday wish, and a gripe at Apple

I don't know if I'll be online tomorrow, so happy birthday to brunettepet - I hope it's filled with delicious foods and booze.

We added some new shows to HDJM last night, Ringer (the new Sarah Michelle Gellar show) and Supernatural! Spread the word, click the love, read the funny. Vampire Diaries is also updated, so chickity-check 'em out.

I carpet bombed the Apple store with links to HDJM yesterday because I what else was I going to do for the three hours I had to sit and wait for a "Genius" to help me?

1. I hate that Apple is the AOL of the computer world. They want shiny, pretty, simple, I get that. but some of us know how to pop the case and fix things. GAH JUST LET ME SWAP OUT MY SIM CARD, I KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS!!! So instead I have a corrupted backup and out of the 3000 songs I used to have on my phone i have

Jesus wept. So I get to track down, re-rip, etc etc all of the freaking music (fortunately I exported the grand playlist.) Stupid stupid stupid.

2. I hate that they have FORTY THOUSAND EMPLOYEES wandering around, and then only two people at the "genius bar."

3. I hate the term "Genius Bar." You fix people's phone data or busted iPad screens. You're not a genius. Hand code some RedHat in five minutes to do a series of computations that Apple can't even do, and we'll talk. [/n3rd r4nt]

4. Bill? I miss NT pro. Man, I could do, find, fix ANYTHING in NT. Cry.

One thing I did learn is that if you get crappy reception on your 3GS iPhone, there are two antennae inside, and if one of them is bent at an angle, they almost cancel each other out in getting a signal. So. If you have an iPhone and get crappy reception, tell them (or your phone store peeps) to pop the case and realign the antenna cable and VOILA. FIVE BARS.

I have nephews (5 and 7) over today, and they are high energy and we stupidly stayed up visiting with BiL until 2am. And they were up at 7am. Ooooooh, I so tie tie. The Mr. filled up backpacks, put them on the boys, and is taking them on an "adventure" to the park. The packs weigh a good 10 pounds each, lol, so we should get a PHENOMENAL nap out of them later today. Thanks, Dog Whisperer for the tip. (lol)

Imma crash while they're at the playground, read some fic, and maybe get in a cat nap. SO TIRED, omg.

Yay thank you for the SPN recap! I was totally ready to abandon the show after the severe shark-jumping in season 6, but now it looks like maybe they turned the boat around! Totally going to have to watch it now.

HDJM has Supernatural? Whee! I don't watch the show that often, but it's one of those that tends to get more interesting in discussion with others when i do watch it.

I loathe Apple and its Genius bars. My sister is a film editor and has a hugely expensive Apple system which she can rent out when she's working on an Indy project -- the Box Rental is a great supplement. However, if something ever goes wrong, she can't call for help or have an Apple Tech come over and fix it, she has to box it herself -- usually with all the peripherals -- and take it to the store. Heaven forbid she drop it.

Dell charged me $200 for a four year warranty that includes a human being coming to my house and analyzing my computer within 24 hours of my reporting the problem. I hate Apple.

iTunes rant....

I firmly believe that iTunes is some sort of plot to drive us all insane. It never works the way it's supposed to and nothing is intuitive about it. Everything is done a crazy way that you would never think of. Grrrrr...plus I think they do something to the iPhone that addicts you to it. I can't live without mine...

Genius Bar...ugh. I likes me my Apple hardware, but every time I walk into an Apple Store, I want to sit down at the Genius Bar and say, "Well, then mix me a decent Martini, *genius*."

If I were more awake I would go into the epic story of how my DH who love our iMacs and wanted to get an iPad, ended up with a droid pad because they employees at the Apple store (three of them) couldn't answer a simple question, couldn't understand why we didnt want to deal with itunes, and one tried to intimate that I used a third party app to get my ipod to do what we wanted the ipad to do (wasn't gonna dink 500$ on a maybe).

I love apple, just think their retail employees are HORRIBLE.

Also loved the Ringer recap, esp. because my housemate and I MISSED the first fifteen minutes of the pilot because we forgot which night it was. We tuned in RIGHT as Ioan got his first bit of screen time, which suited us perfectly because that's TOTALLY why we're watching (hot like burning indeed! we love him).

The weekend will/is filled with great food/drink/fun = Austin Craft Beer Festival, Smoked pork loin, friends coming over to taste craft beer we collected on our last vacation! Whee, I just wish someone else was taking over hostess duty so I didn't have to cook, coordinate and corral family. Thanks for the good wishes!
