I had to go to the hard-core Cipro level antibiotics, as I've got some random ass infection in my head meat that wants to kill me. But you know what? I AM STRONGER THAN THE GERMS. Well, now that I'm armed with napalm, or whatever the pharmacy gave me. Also, my butt is sore. SHOTS. :(

I know that the five people that read the RHoBH recaps on HDJM are desperate for last night's recap, but it's going to have to wait. See: ill. Also, this is sort of a vacation week for all of the writers (even though there is a hilarious Sherlock recap, not to mention Melody's awesome X-Factor finale recaps.)

I stayed up way too late last night researching Serbian Orthodox customs for a one-shot. Um, for the fireman AU, and yes, I realize that it makes no sense. Hopefully it will? Or I'll get rid of this infection and see a bunch of gibberish on a page and delete it and laugh at myself.

Oh, I keep meaning to mention this: remember the post I made a while back about Purina pet foods? I got rid of everything and switched Sally Derg and the cats to Blue Buffalo Wilderness foods, and it's NIGHT AND DAY. Like, within a day or two. Hope Cat, who is technically a Senior Citizen, frolics and plays the Eskimo way with the kittens and Sally Derg, and Hope's fur is thick and luxurious now. Smudge (boy kitten) has stopped sneezing, Sally Derg's fur also feels amazing and she's eating far less and looking far better. So in case you wondered how accurate the whole "Purina food is killing your pets" thing is, um, I can see a visible difference physically and in their behavior.

I'm going to crawl back into bed and watch old Ren & Stimpy cartoons, because it's the greatest cartoon ever. EVER. If you can quote Powdered Toast Man to me, we are automatic BFFs, just so you know.

It was just steroids and then I have to take giant horse pill napalm antibiotic pills, too. PLUS a nasal spray that has antifreeze or something crazy in it.

I've heard good things about Blue Buffalo. Buddy's on Nutro Natural Choice and he loves it. He's even happier since we switched him to the senior formula. Every animal is different but when you find a food that they'll eat and makes them healthy, it is so worth it. I know some people just go with cheap food, but my vet's advice was to feed your pets the best food you can afford. Which I think is good advice -- don't skip your rent to feed your animal, but don't just buy crap because it's cheap either. When I was unemployed Chris and I talked about the cost of Buddy's food and it was worth it to us to skimp on some of our extras in order to keep him on his regular diet.

The cats' dry food is Nuturo and they love it. My Sally Derg goes BANANAS for the Duck and Turkey canned food, like, she flips out. We've been feeding her cuts from the hog the Mr. has been bringing back from the hunting lease, (a little duck, too) so she reacts like she's going on a trip with Dad - it's hilarious. It's about $2 per can, which isn't cheap, but I mix it with some dry food, and she only eats the one time a day, now, instead of two huge scoops of shitty Purina dry food a day. (And less pooping, too.)

I'm right there with you re: feeding them well, especially now that I've seen the massive change before my own eyes. Sally's getting up there in years, too, but she's so much for vibrant now. Crazy.

3) One of my parents' cats was recently diagnosed with a potential autoimmune disease of serious sorts... and then they switched him off of Purina and now he's gaining wweight and seems not to have said disease. So.

Hahaha, I DID. I am actually feeling loads better, and it's only been a few hours. PHEW! It's been miserable around here - I went to bed at 6:30 on Christmas and woke up at 11am the next day. THE HELL?

And aaaaamen to not feeding your pets Purina. We switched to Wellness Core a couple years ago and it turned all my senior citizen cats (who are now 12, 13 and 14) into kittens overnight. They eat less and it's gentle on their tummies (one of them is a bioterrorist when she's sick, and that's completely reduced). It's pretty expensive at first, but if you think about it, it's not that bad when you realize that's the only food they eat. I spend more a month on fast food. And it cuts way down on vet bills. My cats completely snubbed Blue Buffalo, but I applaud any pet food that isn't the crappy commercial stuff.

Oh, the complete absence of hoarking is the BEST THING EVER. And my cats aren't eating as much (ditto on our dog) so it's balancing itself out, for sure. Also, as you said: cuts down on the vet bills.

My cats are really digging Naturo, which is slightly less than Blue Buffalo - IDK if you're still looking around, but that might be worth a try? Anything NON-PURINA = WONDERFUL.
