A note on Hannibal recaps + sundries

If you're on my flist and you read Sam's (hilarious, awesome) Hannibal recaps on HDJM, you might have to wait a while for new ones. I fully support her decision to take a step back and rethink things after this recent episode. With yet another WOC being fridged, it's difficult to support a show that shows disregard for it's very dedicated fanbase, especially when the show runner is dismissive to people asking why he continues to treat WOC/POC in such a manner.

ION, it's so lovely and warm and sunny outside. Ahhhh! Perfect weather to rip out the garden and burn it to the ground. (There's a pernicious weed that has taken over the shade bed all winter - underground runners like crazy. Fun! *cries*)

I am not prepared for the season finale of TW tonight. Wait, I can find solace in the AMAZINGLY TALENTED FANDOM WHEN IT ENDS. /Happy sigh

Last night we made buffalo burgers with bacon-onion jam, chipotle Tabasco sauce and goat cheese on top, and if you heard a pleased wail last night and couldn't figure out what that was, IT WAS ME. :D

What is it with the fridging of WOC lately? Person of Interest, Arrow, Hannibal... It's not a new problem, obviously, but there are ways in which the media landscape really is getting better, and then -- oops, not so much. Grrr.

It's really fucking disheartening to see that tide rolling back in so strongly this month, to say the least. And given that HDJM exists to be excited... =/

Right, exactly -- I can totally see someone saying "I just can't get excited about this show in the wake of this bullshit." God knows I have stopped watching shows for less, and doing write-ups requires a lot more effort and investment.

It's sad to see. Like, I'll usually keep watching the shows when stuff like this happens, because I want to see how other things turn out, but the unabashed excitement and support is gone. For some, it's more of a betrayal when it comes out all of a sudden from a show that seemed to be doing well, and not just from a show that's had problematic aspects and uneven handling of issues from the beginning (ex. Game of Thrones, I have to say).
