Of course people have to be ugly when they can't get something for free any longer. =/ The amount of hate Sam is getting through Tumblr and now HDJM (I'm blocking things from getting through after making an example) is ridiculous.

I take my job at HDJM very seriously. It WILL REMAIN a safe place for fannishness.

I was just thinking this morning about how it seems to be such a human thing to act on negative thoughts and emotions but hold back with positive ones. Maybe we feel less risk in acting on negativity?

I dunno - it's just a bit sad-making since the internet seems to be tailor made for negativity given the natural impulse to act on negative thoughts plus the anonymous nature of it. I'm pretty certain a lot of people spew hate on the internet in a way they'd never do in a million years were the target right there in front of them.

Kudos for wading against the tide and staying positive. It's likely that a lot more people appreciate it than will say so.

Entitlement, pure and simple. Every [enter day] such and such posts something they've come to expect, and now that it's not going to be there, they went through the process of signing up just to leave a shitty comment that they don't like it.

We're such a society based on mocking (I think) that it's safer to roll your eyes or point out something wrong when you could have that mocking energy turned onto YOU for LIKING something. I can't stand it.

Wow. I haven't been reading the recaps because I was (as always) playing catch up with television. I don't know why she's stopped, but that's her decision and people should respect her decision. Full stop. Bitching and finger pointing might get you money off your cable bill but it sure as hell isn't going to get you far at HDJM.

I applaud Sam for not doing something that won't make her happy.

For a while I contemplated coming to you to recap Once Upon a Time, but parts of season 2 and the first half of season 3 made me so frustrated, I realized it wouldn't be a good thing for the site.

You keep being a great mod/friend/recapper and I'll keep commenting, steering people to the site and maybe one day find a show I can recap.

I had to stop recapping Glee for the same reason. I get it - and I get TOTALLY why you were hesitant. That's a tough one, loving a new show only to be shocked where it goes. :(

That bites that Sam is getting any negative reaction. I'm so glad we write for a site that stands by its writers and their decisions, and glad that she took the time to discuss her perfectly understandable and helpful run down on the disconcerting focus on female deaths and the upsetting decision to kill a beloved character of color.
