How to identify a Lord of the Rings obsession:

when your three year old grabs the ring on your finger and croaks out "myy precioussss..."

Whenever there is a Maybelline commercial my older two say, "that's Buffy!" At least they'll be cooler than the Brittany wannabes.

that is awesome. See, people like you should have lots and lots of babies and teach them how to be awesome.

The frightening thing? I LOVE being pregnant. It is such an amazing thing. Delivery? No sweat. Babies? Bring 'em on. Three to four year olds? GO AWAY. Go to grandmas. Come back when I can teach you cool handshakes. We can't wait until my son (8) is a little older so we can get him into D&D. They all three know Homestar Runner and beg to play Trogdor.

But - we are few. "Bratz" and football worship (U.S. football) are the norm. Not in our house! My son told his teacher that boys can marry other boys in Vermont. Hee!!

I do my part for the good of humanity...

Let's see: Three kids, son will be 9 this winter, daughter turned 7 this summer (and is already 4' 4"!!) and daughter 3 as of last week. Kids are fun, but man if you aren't prepared.... Fortunately I have good kids that are funny, nice, and not too horrible. They fuck up, but have the grace to feel shame about it.

Bratz ARE evil. I don't allow them in my house. I fucking hate that shit. I have never bought her Barbie, either. My mother sneaks them in to her. I think dolls are creepy in general. We stick to "edutainment" and outdoor fun. And Spongebob. I love it when people ask my kids about their Homestar Runner t-shirts. Fringe!! We are on the fringe!!!

she was about four at the time, one morning she got up and said to me "You will have to conceed that, as it is not a school day we could have a cooked breakfast this morning mother,"

She just told me her teacher, Ms. Willoughby, is a boy with 2 hands. How perfect that you mentioned Jane Austen! I bet that's where it came from. We know no Willoughby.

"I can now say that while others may call him proud, I have seen nothing of it."

How funny of your daughter...

LOL i am a bit of a Jane Austen fanatic, on my last vaction I visited her grave and went to her museum in Bath.

When P&P came out on tv I wrote to Colin Firth and told him how sexy he was, the dear wrote back and thanked me lol (I am so embarressed to think I did that!)

Oh. My. God. Valmmont??? Freakin' sex in leathuh pants? I ADORE Colin Firth. You lucky woman, you. You've shot up 100 points in my coolometer. ;-)

I have to say, Alan Rickman does it for me in Sense and Sensibility. Noble, strong, silent.... Mmm hmm.
