I completely missed that yesterday was [livejournal.com profile] desoto_hia873's birthday. meep! Happy Birthday!

A quick thanks to those of you who mentioned that you were downloading the Buffy Mix, and a bigger thanks to those who told me what they thought about it. (Infinitely more important! I wanna talk music, yo!) Speaking of, I got the Faith mix uploaded as one big file (not as large as Buffy's only 230 MB) And you can download it

[ETA] This is not working - new file currently loading H E R E. That's good for about 300-350 downloads. Sweeeet.
Here is the playlist in word perfect for printing.
And here it is in RTF format.

It'll take me a bit to get that broken into small files and uploaded, for those that I know need that, so hang on a bit. And H E R E is where the original post with the why and wherefore of what's on it.

Number one. I realized that there isn't ENOUGH bad fic. Wait. Hear me out. There are two images that just haven't been utilized, and they are PERFECT for bad fic. Pulling out. HANG ON, I said! There should be the following descriptions in a pull out fic to properly make me cackle like a loon work:

  • "Angel pulled out, his milky extraction leaving a contrail in the air and across Spike's alabaster back flesh."

  • "Spike pulled himself out with barely enough time, making a rooster tail of semen from Xanders love hole."

Good morning! Okay, enough of that. I watched a bunch of movies this weekend. All but one were CRAP.

Crash - No, no, not the one with Jennifer Connelly and company, I made the mistake of getting the WRONG one. The one with James Spader (looking Blaine-riffic) and a LAUGHABLE Roseanne Arquette. OH MY GOD. I fast forwarded through this clap trap to see if there was anything salvagable, and when I saw Roseanne shambling in on leg braces tyring to seduce a car salesman... AHHHH! Okay, I believe that differently abled people should be grossly offended by this movie. And this is coming from the person who typed "rooster tail of semen." Horrible and pretentious - like a three year old who learned a four syllable word.

Far From Heaven - Booooring. The lasciviousness isn't naughty enough to warrant a shock, and the wall of emotion the wife has from the beginning just gets pits in it - it never crumbles. Oh, sure, she cries when her friend realizes things aren't perfect, but... It just rang hollow. I started FF through this one, too. Although it has the added bonus of Dennis Quaid - I reeeeally like him. He's a nice man - Mr. S has had beers with him - but the movie was just trying way too hard. This idea has been done before and better. Although the way they disguised Julianne Moore's pregnancy with her dresses was amazing.

In The Mood For Love - Oh, what a BEAUTIFUL movie. This is a Chinese film, and is part of a series - the sequel is 2046, and I'm waiting for that on my queue. Very quiet, very subtle, and I just ached for the leads. Tony Leung is so handsome and stoic and flawed and... There's a scene where he whispers his secret into a hole and I just sighed. Very arthouse, slow, but lovely. What I loved about it was it dealt with infidelity as a real thing - as it was happening. No nudity, nothing of that sort, it's all inuendo. But the infidelity carries some actual weight, which doesn't happen in Hollywood movies. It's always something you do because you should - you should experience this! - and then you deal with the aftermath. That's the Hollywood method. But this movie deals with the reality of the lonliness it creates at home, the feeling of inadequacy... I really enjoyed it. And Maggie Cheung is absolutely gorgeous and she'll make you ache with her stoicness and lonliness.

Again, good morning! *is jazzed for the day!*

That would be a potted asparagus fern next to that thar pianer.

What to do? You grabbed the small, zipped files from the Buffy mix, yes? Are you needing to know what to do at this point?

The other Crash is interesting and bleak and it doesn't always work but it is worth watching.

Aww, I love Far From Heaven. I love it for hte Sirk mimick and the color palate and all the little details. It does feel a little flat but it is just so beautifully created.

I want to know your thoughts on 2046 when it gets released on DVD. I wanted it to be wonderful and it just didn't work in a few point for me. I'm curious if it was just me.

I need to add you to my Netflix friends so I can stalk you queue and see what you are watching.

Yeah, see, THAT was the one I meant to click on over at NetFlix. D'oh! This one wasn't even worth watching for the mockability.

And the one thing I enjoyed about Far From Heaven was the visuals, but I didn't care enough about the characters to stay for anything else. They just didn't delve into any emotions with passion.

Oh, really on 2046? My buddy [livejournal.com profile] cherusha has seen it (in the original Chinese) and is waiting for me to see it, as well. They changed the lead actresses as Maggie Cheung was off doing something else. Maybe that contributed? I won't know until I see it. ARGH!

Yeah, I wanted the time travel to work and the story to still all be there but it jsut didn't all work. I may be alone in that opinion though. I think the actor swap had something to do with it, yes.

Contrail? What's a contrail?

I am lovin' the Buffy mix and all the noo fangled music. It's nifty!

::is ignerint:: I'll go look it up. Oh my god, and I used to work for an airline. ::rolls eyes::

Well, 'cause currently, my iTunes is set to sort on artist title. I'm going to see if I can go through and hand-reorder it.

Or delete the buggers and start over from the file on my hard drive.

Well, that came out bitchier than I meant. Um, especially since I didn't mean it bitchy at all.

You know when a jet flies over head? And that white line is in the sky? Contrail. Also called a vapor trail? (It's quite possible that my close proximities to Lockheed Martin have influenced my vocabulary...)

Am totally going to snag the Buffy mix today (yay! for sooperfast work comps and connections!) Thank you muchly for sharing.

Although I think I might hate you just a little for the "rooster tail" image. I'll get over it, but ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. The picture is to my brain like windshield wipers to my vag walls...

And oh, right there with you on the horror that was that Crash... I kept asking Gabe when the other one (the one you wanted to rent) came out if those people were *sure* they wanted their movie title associated, however tangentially, with that other, because that's not really something I'd want. Ever.

All I can say to your bad!fic images is: "Ewwww!"

(Gimme some more! Ha!)

I'm trying to download Buffy again, the first time the file did download but I couldn't unzip it, it said it was corrupted. Hmmm, Laura?

*looks pointedly at you*

Our current Netflix movie is Baron Munchausen. We've seen it before, just wanted to see it again due to Brothers Grimm love. It's fun the second time around too.

Oh sweetie, I'm sorry! I didn't mean anything by it! I was so, so teasing you. It only occurred to me a day later that you might have thought I *wasn't*.

You put so much thought and effort into these beautiful CDs that I would never think of picking at you!!! For anything, whether I was able to download them or not.

I should know better than to try and make jokes; it just doesn't work for me.

rooster tail of semen - check

I thought "Far From Heaven" was gorgeous. Visually. And I love Dennis Quaid (I even love him in "Great Balls of Fire," though I want to slap him) and thought he handled his part fine - just overral fell flat. I've seen the main film it was based on, though, and yeah - nice homage.

I haven't been around today. Hi! Hi!

Date: 2005-11-07 06:25 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] stoney321.livejournal.com
HI! HI!!

Hmm. Smash said the same thing. And I'll agree that it was pretty to look at, but I just didn't buy anyone's turmoil. (True story: Mr. S was in a bar, cleared his throat, and Dennis Quaid held out a cough drop to him, sat down, and they drank several beers and shot the shit. He said DQ was a nice, down to earth guy, and a few inches shorter than Mr. S. Hee!)

I got that they were making the parallel with being black in the 50s with being a homosexual - the pain, being outcast, etc. But they only made the suffering of the little girl Sarah has any sort of resonance. I just thought it was too much window dressing.

And Julianne Moore embodied the cool reserve SO well, that I didn't think I could ever really connect to her. She was just constantly slapping on a "it's fine!" face, and her friend, Patricia CLarkson, was the only one who displayed any real emotion about the marriage breaking down, her husband being gay... I just think ultimately it didn't pay off. but definitely pretty, and makes me want a house in Connecticut.

Whatcha been doing? Did you watch AD tonight? HOLY CRAP. Laughed my ass off.

I like the strap.

I would of gotten away with it if it wasn't for those meddling kids!!

Yeah I really liked the movie. Maybe not so much for the acting. Well James rocked James always rocks. But I loved the spped and flow. Even the music they used. The story is warped as all hell but I liked it.

Can I just say for the millioneth time that I love your taste in music? No? Well, gee, just fine then!

I snort at your pull out fic. Or do I lick my lips. Nooo, I just snort.

The other Crash I just absolutely loved, that Crash I heard very, very scary things about wound sites so decided that it would go on my 'Oh god no' list.

Rooster tail of semen. It's only a matter of time.

Oh the one I was stuck with was just HORRIBLE. I couldn't even mock it. If I kept on watching it, puppies - somewhere - would have burst into flame.

(And I finally got the link to work on the post right after this one. Tell me if you can't get it to work and I'll have a new link emailed to you.)

Girlfriend, do you know how much I love Tony Leung-Chiu Wai???? I have loved him since 1984. He is the bestest. See! He's one of my 50 Favourite Things! (http://www.livejournal.com/userinfo.bml?user=mskakaako) Also Maggie Cheung is one of my favourite Chinese atresses. Eeee! I still have to check out the music file! I've been absent. How are you? Heehee, jazzed for the day is such a cute thing to say. Kind of akin to saying "lollygagging". Adorkable!

Of course you love Tony Leung! He's DELICIOUS and sad and beautiful and... Still waiting for 2046 on Netflix. My buddy Cherusha gave me a list of movies to check out to feed my growing interest in him...

How are you? I've tried to not bug you because I know you've been busy (strike/work/etc.) and I'm sure you're super tired. (Oh, but I miss my Kaka Ako!)

I love you! I hope you're okay, and you can email me ANYTIME. *hugs and smooches* did you get your pregnancy boobs yet? Whoo!

I'm going to email you NOW.

I'd do the YIM thing, but we're trying to update our computer and I'm seeing a blue screen. It's been wonky for a few days.

Yes, yes! Did your buddy rec Chungking Express, Happy Together? You must have seen Hero already, right? Infernal Affairs is a semi-recent one. It's being remade with MATT DAMON /Team America voice and Leo DiCaprio. Lame.

Hey! I have quite the rack these days. Go me!
