In Summary: the big blow up post from yesterday? Let's try our best, hmm? There's the post in a nutshell. Thanks to everyone who participated, and it's still going on! Discussion is good - and everyone brought their good thoughts to the table. Excellent.

SESAME STREET. Who remembers the pin-ball machine groove counting thing? With the Pointer Sisters? WATCH IT HERE. I loved Sesame St. in the 70s. So funky cool. *siiiigh* It sucks now.

For those that are nervously curious about the soap opera that is [livejournal.com profile] a_list_celebs, in summary: Johnny Depp and Will Ferrell got some funky mojo fortune cookies and have body swapped. Depp is in Ferrell, who was in Gwyneth Paltrow's unborn fetus. He - through the use of the magical word "Malkovich" - is now trapped inside a gorilla, and being groomed and loved by "Lola," a sign-language capable ape. Depp, meanwhile, is shagging Jack Davenport rotten, while Depp's Not-Wife, Vanessa Paradis and Sean Connery have taken the unconscious body of Depp, wrapped him in bubble wrap and hung him in the shower to revive him. THIS ALL MAKES PERFECT SENSE. Seriously? For me? It's this or REAL crack.

I gotta get the house clean and the pantry stocked for my BF for freakin' E is coming into town tomorrow for four days! Woot! Won't see much of me over the weekend, so have fun, play hard, and eat a vegetable.

Wow, I remember singing along with that whenever it was on, though I have to say the pigeon dance, the batty bat, and the ladybugs' picnic are still my favorites.

Seseame Street has been turned into the Elmo show. The things kids see now aren't even half as good as the ones I grew up with.

Elmo's just the slower, red version of Grover. Grover rocked.

YES YES YES!! "There's a Monster at the End of This Book!" Oh, Grover. He's my fave. I loved the pigeon dance, but probably "Telephone Rock" is my most fave. There were some great, trippy little animated shorts, too. Like the one about finding your way back to the beginning? Or the mimi-movies with the girl who uses a magnet and a jump-rope to get her jack back? Or how they showed how Chinese noodles were made?

I LOVED THAT SHOW. *kicks Elmo* LOATHE Elmo.

Oooh I remember the noodles thing! And there was one where we got to see how crayons were made. That was really, really cool. Thousands and thousands of crayons.

The other one I used to see all the time was 'The Electric Company'. I had a record of their songs. That one has a 'best of' dvd coming out next month. I wonder if I still have those songs stuck somewhere in my head. There was something about a 'silent e', and a few others that are like on the tip of my brain.

From: [identity profile] stoney321.livejournal.com
YESSSS!!! It was sooooo groovy. "Easy Reader." Morgan Freeman!

There was also a "tee eye oh in, shun shun shun shun!" groovy tune. Letter man? Is that what you're thinking of? Able to leap a captial I in a single bound? Stronger than silent e?

HEEEE! If that comes out on DVD, I'm SO owning that. AWESOME! (They also had "Whimper and Whine.")

The Best of The Electric Company (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000AA4F2O/qid=1138297258/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/104-8318566-5697541?s=dvd&v=glance&n=130) is so going onto my blockbuster list.

The one I'm thinking of was something like: Who can turn a 'man' into a mane? Who can turn a 'van' into a vane? Something something something I can't remember, Silent E!

Are you doing the "do do do do do" bit after the counting? ROCK!!

If I can find "Telephone Rock" - my life will be COMPLETE.

"Hey, Mr. Operator gimmie a tone/I gotta reach my baby on the telephone
Yeah, yeah/yeah!/Yeah!/Yeah!
Rock rock rock rock rock/The telephone rock!"

Or adding is putting together?! Being smart is fun!

Ha! Thanks for the Sesame Street link. It's so weird the stuff I completely forget about, and suddenly I realize that song has been buried in the back of my brain for years.

Ha! SdWolfPup and KillerWeasel and I are having fun on that stroll down memory lane. It's like... SERIOUSLY jazzy, you know? Funk-ay.

Okay, here's another brain worm: a loaf of bread, a container of milk, and a stick of butter.

Aw man, I think I'm too young to remember that one. But searching the internet for it, I did stumble on the teeny little super guy (http://tommcmahon.typepad.com/photos/uncategorized/tlsg.jpg) and his theme song. And a great photo montage (and now I've lost the link) of Grover running back and forth to show what NEAR and FAR mean.

*cries from the AGEISM* Ha! I'm kidding.

I LOOOVED teeny little super guy. Hooray for the link! And I'm hearing Grover panting in my head from the running back and forth. I know just the one! Oh, Grover. He's my most favorite Muppet.

Sesame Street. Cookie Monster. Elmo. Bert and Ernie. Big Bird. Are any of these characters even on it anymore?

Nice To-Do List. Not what I expected. Your hubby is number four? Does he know this? **hides the list**

ELMO?!?! Oh, I hate him. All of the others are still there, but I like the old school Sesame Street the best.

Like when Bert and Ernie were playing the rhyming game, and Ernie had a drum kit? Sttt-tt-tt-sttt-tt ANd then he quit, and Bert was just getting into it. "Hey there lamp! That's a nice shade!" WOW. That was a one in a million reference right there...

AND YES. YES HE DOES KNOW. Although, I've given him permission to put Alyson Hannigan before me. (Sheeeyuh. Like that's a possibility. I STILL win.)

Ooh, thanks! I remember and LOVE! In fact, the other night, i was trolling around the internet, trying to find a clip of Smokey Robinson and the letter U doing "YOu really got a hold on me" cause that is my favoritist clip ever. And if you happen to find it, i'd give you...like, shiny things. alot of them.

And sadly, Sesame has lost so much as its been...redone. I am a firm believer that Elmo brought it allll down. And dammit, my niece is obsessed with him too. She likes Ernie, but i swear, there are subliminal messages in those Elmo's World skits.
