I've been meaning to jump in, there have been some great discussions over there, aside from the three or four different troll-esque remarks I've come across.

My goal truly is to be a better writer, or a better entertainer, take your pick. Don't leave me hanging, y'all.

okay, who is going to start the betting pool on how many "u r meeen!" comments I get? Sigh. One of the reasons I didn't put my name in yet, honestly.

I don't know. I think your stories are pretty good. Although, the Spike/Faith one would have been much hotter with the Todd and his Banana Hammock.

Whereas, my knowledge of 18th Century Naval terminology is extremely limited. I'm not up on the ships made of wood era.

Okay, I'm going to say the combo of the futuristic weapons AND the kick ass name are equal on the awesome scale. DDX.

(I knew next to nothing about the wooden ships, but it's incredibly interesting how FILTHY they were, life onboard, etc. None of which I'm using for the story, but it pays to be prepared. Heh.)

I don't know much about modern ships - my "can hang with the guys" cred is that I know about hand guns/shotguns and have rebuilt a car engine. Oh, and can drink most dudes under the table. But I have a sweet rack.

Yo. Old ships are nasty. Nasty. The more modern ships are somewhat less so. What with having plumbing. OTOH, every single food item is prepared with Tabasco Sauce.

And it's funny... I think I hide behind the serious stuff because the funny is what comes naturally to me. I have to make myself write the more serious fics, and it feels weird to me - like I'm trying to emulate another person's style, or write to please the public, or something.
