Happiness in my day today

I woke up early and wasn't pissed about it; there was perfect weather today; Emily was in a great mood; I got basic chores done without incident; I got some painting done so Em's room is complete; I had some sunning at the pool, and a good friend come over to hang.

Gah!  Just remembered that the RUDE neighbors (who, incidentally, are on the "Welcoming Committee") are STILL cutting the vines off MY fence.  I hung up a sign that says "Stop cutting the vines off my fence."  Jeez!  They are pretty and smell good, and I have a 6 inch clearance from the fence to their property!!  I'm going to plant stink weed next year.

Other than that, terrific day.  Ate a phenominal apple.  Seriously.  It was a Gravenstein.  Made the whole house smell good.  My local conservative paper was disgusted by the Republican National Convention, so maybe people are starting to come around.  Good stuff!!

To top it off, read this ( http://www.mcsweeneys.net/2004/9/1reproductiveopenletter.html ) on www.McSweenys.net and laughed my ass off.  Everyone on my Flist seems to be having a good health day, and I found some great stories on Checkmated that are keeping me occupied while Mr. Stoney is away for work.  Hope all my friends who had the first day back at school today survived!

www.Checkmated.com is a site dedicated to Harry Potter ships, mainly Ron and Hermione. I love them as much as Spuffy, which says a lot. it's the sweet angst and discovery of love that makes me giggle and sigh. The one I'm hooked on as it has a terrific plot and great lovin' is called The Price of Love by RogueSugah. AFFN has a good Harry/Hermione story called 14 Days of Christmas by ResistResist. both are well written and have enough angsty love to make me ache.

I love Harry Potter, so maybe I'll give the site and the fics a look.

We have a different school system in Guatemala, the kids are in school from January to October, so yeah, they're in school. *g* You can imagine how much I don't want October to come ;)

I have also found a website called RestrictedSection.org that has a handful of good HP fics. Most are short and operate under the principle that harry loves Ginny and doesn't realize it yet, Ron and Hermione love each other, and Snape doesn't do anyone. As much as I loved the stink weed and RNC comments, you got me with phenomenal apple. I think I'll write a fic with that title. Okay, not any time soon. I have a WIP I'm trying to be regular with (maybe eating apples would help?) and I just remembered I signed up for a Xander ficathon that's due at the end of the month. Bleah.

I find a sixer of Coke and bean dip really gets my writing juices flowing. I've written a few fanfics, but I suck at cannon. I can write nice little stories, but I can't immitate Joss. I've decided to give it up and just read everyone else's. I write for myself about crazy southerners and my jacked up family. You know: comedy! You and ol' El Blanco Nino write some good stuff. His Anya story made me laugh out loud, and you write some might fine Spander.

I also have crazy southerner/jacked up family novellas started. It seems the only thing I can finish is my fanfic. Figures. I'll be be poor, but able to keep myself in bean dip forever. El Blanco Nino appreciates the compliments, and I blush with Spander love. Okay. Took notes. (1) "the mockney" Ha Ha!!! (2) spoofing one of the funnier books, Princess Bride (3) among all of the snark, you through in REALLY fine smut. I haven't been able to get through all your fics yet, so I'm glad you sent me that one. You know, the voice is really good. Now it is in the top 2 parody fics of all time.

As for pimping, I got burned pretty bad by someone who is dedicated to cannon and read a few sentences of my fics before puking on them. If you don't like the bodies of Spike, Buffy and Angel doing non-Joss things, don't go there. If you like AU, maybe check mine out sometime. AFFN, Author: Stoney (duh). Au Contraire, Au Pair is fluffy Spuffy, but I have to say as a story I like it. Not cannon, and it's William. As In: To Swing? is a shameless jab at Angel and my husband. Wait!! Did I say that out loud? I think it has a nice structure and hot sex. I'll run and hide now, shall I?

Thank you ever so. Regarding folks dedicated to canon - meh. I've pretty much taken to only writing slash, lately, so canon-shmanon. I like a bit of everything (S/X is my fave) but I've enjoyed pretty much every pairing - or non-pairing - (as long as I find the character attractive, I'm weird like that, so no Ethan or Andrew for me.) And Au Contraire, Au Pair sounds intriguing. I had several people fb my snark and love it, and some that patted me on the head like 'clever, but run along now, funny girl, and leave us to the serious that is fic.' (dovil loved me, and she rocks my world.) I love Buffy, and I mean, LOVE Buffy, but to quote one of my other faves, "It's just a show, I should really just relax." The day fic wins a Pulitzer, I might get a little more tight-assed, but I doubt it. Off to look for stories...
