It's a never ending job, motherhood.

There's all the cooking, for starters.

And half the time they won't eat it, no matter HOW good for them it is. Bath time can be a chore, too.

Some of us are carpool moms, always herding our offspring all over town.

We're constantly on the lookout for danger, be it a Bad Person, or that rotten kid down the street. You know the one. Every town has one.

And a lot of us have that one kid. You know the kid. The one that makes us tear out our hair most days?

Or maybe you have the clingy-type? The one that will NOT LET GO?

Sometimes you have to be tough. Give them a push to help them trust themselves.

There are times they just absolutely sap you of your strength.

Not all of us are "traditional" mothers. Either they find us, or we find them.

Or... we wanted to be mothers. It's not always in the cards, is it?

And traditional families? What's that? Two moms can be better than one.

Sometimes you feel mean. Sometimes you wonder how they can even love you.

But they do.

For all the "traditional" moms, for the soon -to-be moms, for the adoptive moms, for the good pet moms, and for the motherly types that help the other moms out, may the sun shine where you are, may there be no messes, may the food make itself (and get cleaned up afterward) and may the little blighters give you a break today. At least for an hour.

Thinking especially of my friends who might be having a difficult time today, [livejournal.com profile] crazydiamondsue and [livejournal.com profile] crayonbreakygal Big hugs to you both.

Hee!! Baby animals. I've been grinning at these pics all morning. And my BFF is dedicated to not adding to the population, but she is a fantastic dog mom and human "aunt" and you couldn't ask for more than that.

(thanks, and I am still laughing at the "milk carton bunny" #2 made me.)

I'm in a weird mood in re motherhood, appropriate to someone at the phase of life where I sincerely hope I have made myself mostly superfluous to my children's ability to get through life. It's what I've been trying to do for nearly twenty years, and yet I'm now stuck with a bad case of "Now what?"

Julia, supposedly, now I have sufficient time to actually write.

*snuggles Max and Daisy and Binkley*

Rascal doesn't get snuggles, because he tried to kill a BABY BIRD that fell from its nest. Caza rescued it, though, so there was not horror in OKC today. This is why I will never have a bird feeder.

Thank you for the truly beautific picspam - made my morning. I'm having a great day today - so far the only negative thought I've had was stopping at Wal-Greens this morning and seeing the boxed Mom's Day corsages on the counter and thinking "Why are they always tiger lilies? And who buys their Mom a corsage at Wal-Greens??" The card aisle was full of last minute shoppers, though.

LOVE YOU.

I saw your comment about Rascal! *stern look at him, snuggles when you aren't looking* Darthanne slaughtered a bunny for me last night. Erk.

Corsage? *has never had one* I like star-gazer lilies the best, I have to say. And yeah - Wal-Greens? I would mock Mr. S mercilessly.

LOVE YOU, TOO!

Oh. Oh god. I have carrot chunks EVERYWHERE! On my shoes, my clothes, OH, OH IT'S IN MY HAIR!

*cough* This is sweet and I'm totally lying about being covered in head to toe in puke. There was a little bile but I swallowed it right back down. This is lovely and gorgeous and hurrah for mothers everywhere. I got to ring my and describe her present to her because I forgot to mail it, aren't kids great? Hey, she got stretch marks and a weak bladder from me, what more does she want and you'd think she would have been more grateful when I reminded her.

LJ keeps putzing out on me but I saw your other post and awwwww again. Your kids are wuverly and so is their Mom. Happy Mothers Day!

(Thanks, D, and I hope things are better at your end, toots.)

Just catching up on LJ now, so seeing the adorableness that is your Mother's Day post this afternoon! It feels as if I get an extended Mother's Day, which is great.

Can't decide which is my favorite, the black-and-white baby chimp with the stand-uppy hair, or the hippo and tortoise. But I may have to print out the chef dog with the kitty in the bowl just for my kids.
