Just when I thought that no one puts any humor in fic anymore, just when I'm about to throw away the idea of reading fanfic (because they're all sounding the same, the characters are Fandom based, not canon based...) Just when the light was darkest, yea verily, a funny and slick little fic appears on my flist. Short, to the point, and you'll smirk at the end. Yay!

Angel is my OTF. Except Season 5. We don't speak of that. I tend to like any Tim Minear shows but they don't habg around enough for me to love.

Veronica Mars seem to be getting all the Buffyverse cast offs and Grey's get VMars cast offs and Battlestar Galactica has Edward James frickin' Olmos. But they're no Angel Season 4.

I don't seem to have a primary fandom anymore. Depends on my mood. BtVS/AtS and Due South are the ones I tend to write in though. Then The Fast and the Furious or RPS (multi-fandom interests there). And then Without a Trace, Smallville (shoot me, please), Supernatural, Veronica Mars, and NCIS. I'm sure I'm leaving something out.

So, to sum me up:
BtVS/AtS was my gateway drug into reading FanFic.
It was mostly basic smut.
I found you through metaquotes in a non-fandom related quote about eagles eating yappy minature dogs.
I friended you.
You broke me. (I read RPS now because of you! Eeek!)
We all lived happily ever after.

On humor: I like it. Good fic has smut and humor. Or just smut. Or just humor. Doesn't really matter as long as it is well written! You make me laugh. I'm not a big fan of Stooges, slapstick, wacky car chases, etc. Sarcasm and snark are good.
On writing: I don't. I've never been much of a fic writer. The whole visual vs. written thing, I guess. I take pictures. Of course, if I could get JM to pose for the pictures that I see in my brain we would be in all kinds of heaven! So since I don't write I have to worship all of you who do. :)
I wish I did write though because y'all are talking about some wonderful big party this weekend called WriterCon which I know really means Drunk&PartyingWritersCon and it makes me jealous because I won't be there. Take pictures!

There are a lot of things I'm a fan of, but BtVS/AtS are the only ones I do fannish things for at the moment.

I think there is not more funny because funny is harder than not funny. If you fail at angst, the story is usually still readable. If you fail at funny, the story is a cringeworthy pile of goo.

Well, I do agree with the writing aspect of it. Although... I feel that when people listen to a "character voice," that should be something picked up, too. Like Xander, for example. Most X fics don't have any of his sarcasm or lame jokes, so they don't SOUND like Xander to me.

You've said something here that's really boiling the issue down for writing, though. (But what's keeping them from reading? OOOH! I meant to put in a T/F ? about humor = fluff. The answer is F. Mostly. :) Thanks for this.)
