Ahahahahaha. Aha. Heh. Um... Okay, so the Post That Took Over Life (or PTTOL) gave me a new strength in my hands, and now I can bend metal. Man, I haven't typed that much since that day of taking minutes for the Hyperactive Freetalkers with Tourettes and Cocaine Addiction seminar. (rimshot) Only two real dissenters, and they basically missed the point entirely. I wasn't saying people can't have OPINIONS. I was saying their opinions were WRONG. Hahahaha. Kidding! I was civil to both, and backspaced over "how do you walk with balls that big, do you have a special chair or something?" because that wasn't NICE. ([eta] make that three people, now.)

Quick heads up to all the lovely people from yesterday that added me to their flist: thank you! Now here's your chance to flee. I'm... Well, I typically a LOT cruder than I was yesterday. I just know how to clean up, is all. I take NO OFFENSE to being "defriended" and consider your flist your READING list. You just take care of your business with no worries from me. Examples: this is who I am (bio). Oh, and this, too. Sometimes I'm this. I'm almost always this, or at least I try to be. If you're standing back in horror now, go ahead and unclick that ticky box. :)

So the post I MEANT to make yesterday was to link up to all the awesome fics that people wrote for my birthday, because how cool is that?! *slides a dollar across the table* So I'm only a day late.

Just an embarrassment of riches! Thanks, guys! (If I missed anything, it's because my brain is mush.)

In other news, I still continue to be bugged that Angela can REALLY REALLY sew on Project Runway. She bugs me as a person, but dammit. The girl has skills. And MICHAEL!! Whuh whuh! The man is too good. What did he say earlier in the show? "I'm no Captain Ho-Saver?" Hahaha. He's awesome. ALSO, due to a great person on my flist, I got my hands on the pilot of Heroes and I am SO INCREDIBLY EXCITED for that show, OH MY GOD. So. It hooked me from the very beginning. Run down premise: due to simple genetics, man is evolving into something more. It's happening in fits and spurts, as evolution always seems to. They totally give X-Men shout outs, for those looking askance. But it's NOT the X-Men Redeaux.

#1, Kudos to NBC for having two of the lead characters be Asian and Eastern Indian, and treat them with respect. The Japanese guy is hilarious, I will say. Funny, TOTALLY into comic books, so he's much more aware of the potential that he's a hero. And his name? Hiro. Heee! (They make it subtle.) The young Texan girl with an AMAZING power is so good. You ache for her. She is just beside herself, trying to understand what is happening to her. What I'm assuming is the main character, a younger brother who is a medic, has a very Clark Kent vibe, and I was instantly bored. Hahaha. BUT. It's mostly the actor they chose - there's something about his lip that bugs me. (I"m weird.) And it's very idol-worship of HIS big brother (and whoa - tone down the sexual tension there, NBC. Or don't. Amp it up, actually. Hahaha.) The Ali Larter character is a weird one. We don't know what her power is - just that it's DARK. I'm totally ready to watch the next ep to find out. Two MAJOR twists in the end, I won't give them away because it will SERIOUSLY impair your enjoyment. I don't know if I'm an idiot for not seeing them coming, or if they just really did a great job of juggling all the balls so I didn't see the twist coming. So. Thumbs WAAAY up from me. Starts in September.

I meant to do this whole summary of yesterday like I did with the fandom kerfuffles, but I'm lazy. So. Off for a jog! Have a great day!

Dude, the lack of clutter in your mailbox today is so going to harsh your buzz. I was seriously impressed with the number of comments you garnered.

As for opinions, they are like ass holes, we all have one. But, when you proceed to use your company's resources to blanket the inboxes of insane liberal bitches from Texas who just want to garden thankyouverymuch grey haired old ladies who just want to plant tomatoes with your very personal so-far-right-it's-in-China opinions, then you are just begging for "feedback."

ARE YOU FEELING BETTER, BABY??? (And did you see you joined in the meta-fic fest in Sue's story? heee!)

When it's hot like it is now, about 3.5 - 4 miles. When it's nice out, 6. Any more and my knees give out. Yay, arthritis!

From: [identity profile] brandil.livejournal.com
I am feeling better. I still haven't gotten to work on *time* but being ill is the best reason to sleep late I can think of. Even the anti-biotics aren't making me feel as yuck today as they did yesterday.

My knife is becoming legendary. I should stick it in something and take a picture of it so you can icon it and threaten people with it *g*

I believe with every particle of my being that running/jogging is evil. All that jostling of internal organs, my bad joints (ankles first then knees), just blech. How long does it take you to get that far? An hour on the short distance days? Longer on the others?

Date: 2006-08-10 02:11 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] stoney321.livejournal.com
Ooooh, I like the icon idea. Heeeee!!! (Glad you're getting better, too.)

My knees are really trying to convince me to stop, but I feel SO GOOD when I move fast... Walking is good, too. I'm a fan of walking.

the short distance takes about 30 minutes. The longer one about 50 minutes. I used to be zippier. My BFF can run 8 miles in about 45 minutes. She's friggin' FAST. (She also runs several marathons a year, tho.)

I suppose that time is one of the big advantages of running, your work outs are a lot shorter that way.

8 miles in 45 minutes? BOGGLES

Yeah, the chick is FIT.

SHe decided one day to sign up for a marathon (her first) and ran it without any special training beforehand. She came in THIRD. Overall!! Like, 2:54 or some crazy shit like that.

She's easily the most fit/strong human being I've ever known.

Ahh now I have to get my husband to friend you too. The slash I kind of have him loving and he also wrote to Mr. Hake, (a very nice letter which was returned because the mailbox has been shut, wonder why...so he is resending via the company link), but as a fellow runner he will worship you. Hot days, like 100 degrees are merely a reason to cut back on the day's run.
So here we talk of mad dogs, Englishmen, and runners.....
Does keep the boy fit though, even if he is trashed after those marathons and half marathons. Cheering at a marathon is bloody boring, btw, you watch them head out and clap madly, then you go walk around for a couple of hours killing time until they start heading in, the winners shortly after two hours and the next thousand or so spread out for the next couple of hours after that. Makes golf look exciting.

Nice icon! *applauds him*

Yeah, I like showing up at the finish line to cheer people on. I'm a sap that tears up as people cross, though. No marathons in my future - the longest I can run on my knees without serious medical attention (I'm due for total knee replacement at the age of 34 - bah) is a half-marathon, and that's painful. 10Ks are awesome. I'm trying to get back into shape to hit the circuit...

Date: 2006-08-10 03:06 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] arwensong.livejournal.com
Bah to knee replacements and arthitis. They told me that too at 35. Two board certified orthopedic surfeons. I'd stopped running a few years earlier. Blondie there gave me exercises to do and damned if they didn't work, strenthening my quads and taking the pressure off my knees. He is always getting injured as he is not really built like a runner, but he knows point exercies for every body part. He is 46 now but as you can see from that icon, which shows him running the Philly half at 45, (or maybe you can't as it is small) he is in great shape. He consistently finishes in the top ten percent for men. Which means that now he is doing well for his age group, although the forties is still a pretty competitive group. Send him a note at blondrunner or his yahoo name (talruns) and he will give you some exercises to help your knees. (Caveat being he is not a doctor...just a runner who has been reading on this for twenty odd years and trying them all). I stick to walking but my knees are still better now than they were ten years ago.

Your BFF's times are truly amazing. Indeed, that marathon time would win many a minor marathon! And your times for the shorter distance are respectable as well. Good luck with the training and the knees. Which should be ignored at all costs. My knees, as well as the medical profession, have been imploring me to stop this silliness for the last decade. I have told them, politely of course, to F@%& off.

Date: 2006-08-10 10:33 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] stoney321.livejournal.com
Yeah - she wins quite a few. And the kicker is, she's not very competitive, so she could actually do BETTER. Her husband and I have tried convincing her to go pro. "Nah."

I need to shed a few more pounds, and then I won't have as much stress on my knees, and then I won't be complaining as much, which means the doctors will leave me alone. FOr a bit. Heh.

I was excited about the show just from the ads (which is why I went looking for the pilot when I heard it was out there in the cyber ether) but actually seeing it... I'm already drooling at the possibility of vidding this show.

The chick that likes medic bro didn't really do much for me either way and while I liked the drugged out BF's powers, he seemed a bit over the top in woe is me angst about it. (And I did see what he did coming a mile away and just... ew.) But I'm withholding judgement until I see what they do with those characters in future eps.

I love how all the characters' paths keep crisscrossing and look forward to seeing more of that.

I love Michael. He's my favorite on that show. I loved the outfit he made, and hee his face when what's his name was all - "i hate hot pants!" then reluctantly "but they're back in." lol. And then his little dance when he won! He so deserved to be in that ad :)

I really dislike Jeff (or however you spell his name). That whole quacking complete went on too long. One or two quacks, ok. But jeez!

And wow, that show sounds excellent! I will definitely try to catch it this fall. Thanks for the rundown :)

Ahahahaha! RIGHT, RIGHT!! The quacking went on FAR too long. And while I do think Madooky would have worn that outfit (maybe eight years ago?) he is not my fave. Not even close. Michael makes me SO HAPPY. (And seriously, I mostly love that he loves women and curves and making them look beautiful. Kayne's Monroe-esque dress was STUNNING. But the model's ass looked like two hams jiggling in there. She needed some grannie panties to smooth that shit down, yo.)

Heroes was EXCELLENT. Really, really intriguing.

I love Michael and I am coming around to Angela because she has impressed me lately. I thought the team design thing was a fluke because she had Laura and Michael on her team but then she pulled one out on her own. What I can't understand is why Vincent is still there. I hate hate hate his designs and he is annoying as hell.

I wanna see Heroes! I have been eagerly waiting for it ever since I saw the first commercials. How did you get a copy of the pilot? Is it super secret or is there a way for us regular people to get a copy?

Same here, but I don't WANT to like Angela. SHe seems like a LOT of work in real life, and the type of personality that stresses me out. Too. Much. Work.

Vincent is AWFUL. I mean, seriously. It's like something my 5 year old would draw.

I have... secrets. I don't know if I have permission to share it (I don't want anyone to get in trouble, here.) If there's anyway I can, I'll email you straight away, okay?

Darn you! Pimping a show that now I'm going to have to watch!

Grrrr. *G*

But PR last night was divine. I'm *so* happy Michael won. Do you listen to Tim's podcasts about it? They're available on iTunes, as well as on the Bravo site. Tim has utter respect for Michael as a designer, as well as some insights into Michael's creative process.

Bradley just needs to put the pipe down for a while, you know? And while Robert's dress was kind of boring, it was *very* Jackie O. I think it should have been Vincent and Bradley as the bottom two.

I'm starting to like Angela, which I do find scary. But she can sew. That dress was *gorgeous* and it was so appropriate. Kayne's, too, was *stunning*. Alison's I could take or leave. Jeffery's was way too OTT for me.

Since I injured my hip last year I haven't been able to run. It makes me very sad. I do walk, though, according to the treadmill at 4 MPH, every day.

It's SO ENGROSSING, I have to say. It should be one of the better new shows of the Fall Season.

I didn't mind Robert's outfit, with the exception of the material (linen? No, no, no, no.) and the RIDICULOUS rope belt, that was in no way Jackie O. The jacket's shape and skirt were fitting, just bad material.

Oooh, walking is one of the best exercises around! Low impact, takes a while, and uses almost your whole body! Good for you!!
