We are not discussing how I'm not exercising this morning. (OMG, it's not triple digits!! I'm working in the garden today, hurray!)

  • Spent a ridiculous amount of time watching television with Mr. S
  • (The Office S1, Arrested Development S1 and Deadwood.) I love that Mr. S "aww"s every time Jim reveals his feelings for Pam on The Office.
  • Proved my smarts to the man by explaining all of the in-jokes on AD such as: George Michael, who is incredibly wishy-washy and on the fence, is in love with a girl named "Maeby." How Gob shows up on a Segway to move the narration/plot to a new place. Hahahaha. Man, I love that show.
  • Spent a ridiculous amount of time perfecting my impression of Louis Armstrong as Gandalf. Song will follow.
  • Wrote a whopping 25 words. See: television with husband
  • Booked my ticket for glorious Detroit to see BFF before they move to Flahrida in October. (They live in Ann Arbor)
  • Got a cold
  • Visited with the in-laws (omg, it was FATE that led me to clean the bathrooms before they surprised us with a visit!!) and actually ENJOYED our conversation!
  • Until MIL put the fear of god in The Boy about his upcoming camp (school camp - first time to be away at camp) by talking about someone she knew that had a horrible experience
  • Smirked when Mr. S asked her if she was friggin' insane. I swear, the woman doesn't think.
  • Spent an hour on the swingset with The Boy explaining how awesome camp is, how much fun I had when I went, and how he's going to be fine. And mom and dad are only a call away.
  • Pulled all of the appliances out of the laundry room and scrubbed the floor. Vinegar-to-repel-cats-from-peeing is still working, YAY.
  • Found a most awesome clip on YouTube that made me squirm in my chair. (embeded below. Boys kissing.  WARNING.)

What about YOU?

Awww, your m-i-l is crazy, sometimes. I'm so glad Mr. S called her on it. Because yes, it makes total sense to scare an eleven year old who's never done this before. Brilliant.

Did you see Colbert and Stewart on the emmy's? I love them :)

I didn't!!! I forgot about the Emmys because we were SO INVOLVED in Arrested Development *beams at you* and then it was Deadwood's series finale and !!! It was MOST UNSATISFYING.

I'm refreshing YouTube like a summbitch to find clips. I read the transcripts, and I love them, too. And I love YOU, kitten!

Sitting on the television for hours at a time is one of life's simple joys! Louis Armstrong as Gandalf? I'm intrigued... *offers you kleenex and your hot beverage of choice for your cold* Poor boy! Nothing worse than to be excited/nervous about something only to have someone scare the bejeezus out of you with a story of badness! And, in conclusion, boys kissing=always good.

Date: 2006-08-28 02:47 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] stoney321.livejournal.com
But I NEVER sit and watch TV. It's a thing. *loves books and magazines* So it was very exciting. :D

Gah, I'm trying to remember the song. It was set to "What A Wonderful World." "I see fires on 'Rogs/Strider too!/ I speak Elvish/How 'bout you?/ And I think to myself... this is Middle Earth."

Yes. That is the secret to world peace. Or world peace for women and gay guys.

Did you order those Caitlin books? Inquiring minds want to know.

HEEEE!!! Yes, yes I DID. And they shipped on Saturday, so I will soon have cheesy teen-romance/angst to read, and I am MOST PLEASED. (If I need to send them to you when I'm done, SAY THE WORD.)

Colds suck.

Mr. S does not.

MIL's can be crazy.

The Boy is awesome. As is Arrested Development.

My weekend consisted of mainlining Firefly and then meeting that whore, Maren, for dinner last night. Yes, I do believe the world will be ending right about now.

Also? I clearly ROCK at HTML.

From: [identity profile] stoney321.livejournal.com
YES. YOU. DOn't!

:D

I'm at that fun/woozy-sneezy stage where you just feel disconnected. Am I the only person that likes that? Probably. The MIL is... well, she's that older woman that hears something bad and tops it. With something worse.

AD - man, I loved that show. "Hey, Brother." I STILL haven't watched a minute of Firefly or the movie Serenity. You mean you and Maren haven't met before??? I had it in my head that you two were long-time friends from RL. That's so cool!!

I have this weird obsession with cough syrup--I just regularly drink it. Yes, I am a FREAK. My parents used to hide the cough syrup from me when I was younger because I would literally drink the entire bottle at one time. And then want more. I was and still am . . . strange. I just love the taste of cough syrup. *shrugs*

Maren and I were talking about AD last night and how it was the most awesome show ever. Buster and Gob were my favorites. I cracked up at every "Hey Brother" and "Hey Nephew." *hearts Buster*

Nope, Maren and I met through LJ. We were mutually friended and exchange occasional comments. One day she put out a call for a beta and I IMed her that night volunteering if she still needed one. The rest, as they say, is history. We started talking and she became A PAIN IN MY ASS. I just pretend to like her so she doesn't start crying.

Date: 2006-08-28 03:13 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] stoney321.livejournal.com
OMG, you are getting HIGH on cough syrup!! That's what the Mormon kids in Southern Utah do to get high - that's how they skirt around the "don't do drugs or drink" rules of the church. hee hee!!

I love that Buster GOT the job from his audition tape: he was giving a "massage" to someone off camera - a painful, unwanted massage, and the casting director was thinking "not so much" and then he said, "Hey, brother." And they knew they found their Buster. Heee!

*plays Final Countdown*

And it seems like Maren is a real pill. You're a saint for putting up with her. GOOD. LORD.

Date: 2006-08-28 03:20 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] southernbangel.livejournal.com
Yes, yes. Finally SOMEONE recognizes what a saintly person I am for putting up with Maren. THANK YOU.

Wait, does this mean I'm Mormon now? *checks under skirt*

I do realize the above makes no sense. I plead cough syrup insanity.

Man, I miss AD. Yet another reason I hate Fox. I *really* wish the Showtime deal hadn't fallen through--more Gob! More Buster! More George Michael lusting after Maeby! More never nude!

Best. show. ever.

Date: 2006-08-28 03:26 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] stoney321.livejournal.com
Oh, man, David Cross. He's maybe my most favorite stand-up, too. Him and Jim Gaffigan. Which... okay, I'll admit that's strange. The kid that played George Michael had impeccable comic timing, it's astounding. So. Funny. Fox screwed me out of two other shows I loved: Action! and Keen Eddie. BAH.

*checks under your skirt, too*

Your MIL is a nutter.

Louis Armstrong as Gandalf? I'm filing this under things I never thought about.

The Boy will love camp. (Hopefully he won't have the experience A did when he went to camp as a middle school team building exercise. One of the kids did a pole dance. Or, maybe that is the sort of thing he should have as part of the full camp experience.)

No gardening for me. It's been crazy raining here.

Date: 2006-08-28 03:05 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] stoney321.livejournal.com
She just isn't aware that sometimes she shouldn't PASS ON FEAR. (She's afraid of everything, for the record.)

More Gandalf singing a song like Louis Armstrong. (I put the words up in a comment to tinpanalley)

I think he'll love it. He's much more confident this year, has some guys he likes to hang with that'll be there, and I think it'll be okay. *crosses fingers* It's only three days? PLUS, it's during the school week, so that adds to the fun.

It's raining today! I can barely believe my eyes!! We haven't had measurable rain in months. My POOR GARDEN. It's just depressing to see how dry and tan everything is...

From: [identity profile] anelith.livejournal.com
The Boy is going to camp, that's so cool! But it's interesting that he's going during the school year rather than the summer. Reversal of the way it's usually done? Tell me all about it! I hope your swingset talk reversed all the damage done by crazy MIL.

You are Cleaning Queen! I'm so impressed.

It's a camp for the 5th grade - all of the 5th graders in the entire district go away during the week to reinforce some learning, team building, and that sort of thing, not to mention the nature observing stuff that they'll do, too. I've never heard of such a thing either, but we moved to this particular district because they're so higly rated and they don't "teach to the test," if that makes sense. They do fun stuff that's very hands-on.

Man, I went to TOWN this weekend. I'm talking washing WALLS. But it needed to be done. Urk.

From: [identity profile] a2zmom.livejournal.com
It sounds like the same thing my school district does except it occurs in sixth grade. Which just reminded me:

If Doodle had his way, he'd be up all night and sleep to 3 in the afternoon. When he did this, he wound up not feeling way that night and coupled with his natural night owl tendencies, he didn't get to sleep until past 4 in the morning. So, when morning came, they could not wake him up. At all. They finally used smelling salts and immediately called my house (and gave my husband the scare of his life) because they thought something was seriously wrong with my kid.

This could only happen to one of my children.

This is Bob LOBLAW

I went out to dinner Friday night with the kiddos,David, and a friend. I died my hurr on Friday too and it brings me much joy.
Saturday I planned a luncheon for the girls on the TT board so we could meet in person. It was nice!
Saturday night I went to my friends house so we could BBQ and I drank probably 8 glasses of wine. I cannot believe my incredible lushiness. Then I played guitar- 1st time in YEARS. My fingers STILL hurt. Played Dad's songs and a bunch of other Stuff. You know: Tesla (Love will find a way...) and of course Dust in the Wind. Holy crap I am such a loser.

Sunday I spent throwing up and laying around with a terrible hangover. Aren't you jealous of my coolness?

PS- Ask me about the bully. HE STABBED A LITTLE GIRL IN THE EYE WITH A PENCIL ON FRIDAY. WTH? A 5 year old.

WHAT IS UP WITH THIS BULLY, and is the child okay???

Teacher and I have been conferencing. I want to write a letter to the school. She said if he acts up again today, he's thrown out of school. I'm thinking- does he have to BEHEAD a child before he's finally thrown out of the school? I told Sam to STAY AWAY From him today. I said even if he's being nice- you walk away from him. I don't need to be going to the emergency room. PS- Teacher is only a 2nd year teacher and she had a kid like this last year too. I'd say she's been broken in.

I have so much to do today and I'm so unmotivated. Still hungover possibly?

Date: 2006-08-28 05:56 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] stoney321.livejournal.com
UH.... yeah. I'd say staying away from Bully is order of the day. GOOD LORD. Write that letter. I'm surprised they didn't kick him out for STABBING A CHILD IN THE EYE. (Did she lose her eye? Did it burst? What the hell!!!)

Unmotivated? Sounds like you have Lauraitis. I am SO TIRED today.

Mr. Space wanted to watch the Emmys so watch them we did. I was just grateful he didn't want to watch TV-Land or the Finance Channel.

Even *I* liked camp, minus one horrid episode where I freaked about having to go home with the Troll Family afterward. I wish there was Mom Camp, where we could go and do crafts and swim and have other people cook for us.

Oooh, I like the idea of a Mom's Camp. I think those are called "spas." :D

Finance Channel? Although it wouldn't surprise me if it ever happened, I can't imagine a duller way to spend the day. Unless it's watching C-SPAN. How much do you want to bet that they would have a reality program within the first year? Like... pairing up a financial analyst and someone who's never balanced their checkbook and is thousands into debt. :)
