I've been very stressed for several days as there's been a mixup at the Master Gardening HQ about the hours I've turned in for the 2006 year.  (We have to maintain x # of hours both in re-education and volunteer time to maintain our status)  They had me short by 6 hours, which would make me ineligible, and NO LONGER a Master Gardener.  For those that know me, you know that's a huge thing for me.  *clutches chest*

I BLOGGED FROM THE OFFICE THE DAY THEY DIDN'T HAVE A RECORD.  Boo-yah.  Let's hear it for recording IPs, etc.  Now I just have to wait to hear from the board, and I should be fine for this upcoming year.  *Whew*  Considering the HUNDREDS of hours I put in 2005 (not to mention being the best editor for their monthly magazine *polishes nails* according to a poll taken) I would like to think they wouldn't boot me over being short a few measly hours.

And you can expect a few more posts about gardening in the upcoming future.  I'm working on bringing my old gardening blog back, which will increase my education hours, etc.  As always, I'll cut-text long posts, because I'm all about an efficient flist experience.  (There will be a searchable data base, an index to back up my statements, and an open forum for questions from the public)

WHEW.  Guys, I've been HEARTBROKEN about this.  I know, I'm the oldest 34 year old ever.  *knits shawls and eats cat food*  Haha.

Damn. With all you do, I cannot believe they even mentioned a measly six hours. Don't they know how much you prosyletize in your spare time? I spork them, I do. Glad it worked out.

Good, then you can add to the torment from the flood of catalogues making me fret about which plants to add. Because if it wasn't for the fact that it's technically Winter outside I might actually start poking around.

As a Metallica fan, your icon pays EXCELLENT homage!

Also: ya had me right up till ya started knitting and eatin' of the cat's food. I lost it there. snorting coke (umm, the SODA thank you!) right out my nose. *shakes head* Poor Stoney!

It's kinda like being a master vampire. Angel was all, 'did you see 1998? I killed all those people and got voted Best Apocalypse Except Jasmine!' But they were all, "Angelus! You signalled her with your eyes! No master vampire for you! Two centuries!" He should've been blogging.

I hope they fix this up.

YOu're 34 years old? How can that be? Girl, I don't feel 36 and it's freakin me out hearing YOU say you're 34. How old is Beth? 89? Aren't we all 15, 13, and 7?

Anyway, I hope they figure out the hours. That would be NOT good! I want to be a part of your Garden blog. Keep me posted on that! Great idea--- it will work out. Think positive! Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!

Get a spoonfull of sugar to help this go down. Man, I'm bored.

Ain't no damn master gardener pulling my weeds. It's just my sorry ass.

I haven't even looked at my garden because I am terrified that all this crazy ass warm weather is making my plants break the surface and when the cold snap finally hits - dead perennials.

I am glad you are still a master amongst the flowers.

I look forward to the return of your gardening blog! And of course they can't take away your Master status -- that would be ridiculous. They would lose one of their most valuable people.

I didn't know that your housecleaning binge was related to something so specific! When you mentioned being stressed, I thought it was having all the kids home for so long. For me, that would certainly count as stress!

If they don't give you credit for those measly 6 hours, your flist will descend on their office in full force. We have proof!

WHEW. I'm good. I've emailed the board, they're fine with my hours, so WHEW. There's a problem with some folks going through the motions for a short period of time, becoming ineligible, and then calling themselves MGs when they're not up to speed on current practices, etc.

So I can appreciate their worries, etc. I just knew that I had fulfilled my requirements, is all!

(I just wish I could parlay my blog into a column in our paper. The MG they have writing it now lacks... zazz. One day. *plots*)

How are you?

Black thumb asking in total ignorance here... "when they're not up to speed on current practices"

Does gardening change that much that quickly? I mean plants ::flails arms wildly:: you put them in the ground!

*cracks knuckles* Well, we're associated with Texas A&M, and that's a premier research facility, so you'd be surprised at various things that change!

If you're familiar with the climate zones, those are beginning to change due to global warming, which affects which plants are recommended for your region. Plus, a few years ago it was common practice to paint the "wounds" on trees after pruning, and that's frowned on now. Stuff like that. :D

Huh! I mean I can see things to do with technology changing rapidly for obvious reasons but horticulture's been around so long! You'd think they'd have got it right. ;-P

I take your point about the changing climate though. We've just had, to quote the weather folk, the storm of the generation go through W.Australia. One town (http://www.news.com.au/story/0,23599,21014044-2,00.html) had more rain than they normally receive in a year dumped on them in one day! And bear in mind that this is in high summer for us down under: 35 - 40 deg.C to rain storms in an overnight change. With one of the worst droughts in memory still going on in the eastern states.

I keep forgetting I'm almost as old as all the adults... God that sounds awful, doesn't it? I'm still stuck in this mode of "everyone online is older than me" because I hopped on at 13.

Heh - I still don't feel like an adult, and I'm a MOTHER. Like, I have to remind myself sometimes that I'm not late for Calc at uni or something.

Most of the people I routinely chat with around here are my age or older, so I get a culture shock sometimes when I realize the person I'm skimming over in a comm is in HIGH SCHOOL. *shudders*

Oh I know, there's a lot of the young ones, too (especially in my chosen fandom-corner, Phantom of the Opera. What am I thinking?)

But I still feel young and stupid next to... well, everyone older! When you're young, you think one day you'll be grown-up and you kind of see it as being a different sort of person. But you aren't. I'm *always* going to feel like this; it puts the parental units in a different perspective. They hadn't had kids yet at my age (they waited a LONG time) but they were getting there. And you're not much older than me, and still I'm like, "whoa, she's gots kids! she must be an adult!"

Heh, well, if it helps, I did have my kids young - 23 for my firstborn - so that contributes a lot to my feeling of always "catching up."

Most of the parents of my kids' friends are older than me, which doesn't help me feel "old enough to be responsible."

(Man, this new fandom I'm dipping my toes in - they're all still in HIGH SCHOOL. Ack.)

Face it--we'll never feel "responsible," no matter what. Look at us. WE WRITE FANFIC. We gush about tv shows and books and write clever things to our internet friends. Why the hell should we worry about reponsibility?
