Sorry to be so melodramatic, but GODAMN!  He just can't win again.  [profile] itsabigrock  has asked to be spammed with your reason for votinf the way you are, or why you aren't, etc.  But you HAVE to vote.  There are only a few weeks left to register, if you haven't already.  As a Texan, I've dealt with Bush for 3 years longer than most of you.  Here are my reasons (and data to back it up) why I am voting AGAINST Bush this election.  Head over to Tania's page to voice your concerns there, too.  Hit me with your best shot. And no cut, because I want you to be forced to read it!!

1. Koch Industries (appropriate, no?) is a giant oil conglomerate that has given $3M to the RNC, and almost $4M to Congress in direct lobbying. When Bush took office, the Justice Department dropped almost all criminal charges against them for concealing the illegal discharge of Benzene, a known carcinogen. They had also been sued for stealing millions of barrels of oil, worth $170M from Federal and Native American lands. Again, all charges were dropped and no one served time.

2. Bush cut OSHA's funding so they can only visit 2% of our nation's workplaces each year. OSHA has now cancelled standards for a group of chemicals known to cause miscarriages.

3. Bush's White House cut the FBI's funds by 2/3. John Ashcroft (who annoints his employees in oil and has daily prayer with them) cut their requests for computer networking, foreign language intercepts, and eliminated their request for collaborative capabilites. He recommended cuts in counter terrorism on September 10, 2001.

4. Bush appointed a wacko to head an FDA panel on women's health. This man believes in prayer for treatment of PMS and says birth control promotes promiscuity. This man is who is keeping the morning after pill (or, Plan B) from women all over the US.

5. WIC (women, infants and children) is being cut by $122M, HeadStart by $177M, and same for national Science Foundation. The Defense Dept gets $427.7 Billion.

6. Bush set up a provisional government in Iraq and $8.8 BILLION is unaccounted for. They have 74,000 guards on payroll, but only 603 are known to exist.

7. Bush is revamping the welfare system so those on the welfare-worker program no longer gain a paycheck for their work. They just get their services compensated by their job. (If they don't make money, how can they get off welfare? And DEMOCRATS are enablers?)

8. Bush didn't listen to 68% of American who wanted the ban on assault weapons extended, including 2000 member of police and law enforcement, and the Brady institute showed that AW crime went down 66% after the ban was in place.

9. Bush has allowed the loggers to take over our forests and not worry about plant or animal life. The bill enabling them to "thin out" our nation's forests and kill whatever is in their path was paid for by the Timber/Logger lobbyists.

10. Bush wants to spend $6.8 BILLION on EARTH PENETRATING NUCLEAR WEAPONS. I believe we have found the WMDs, and they are being made in our own back yard.

For over 100 more reasons why Bush should NOT BE RE-ELECTED, visit here: http://mcsweenys.net/links/bush/ where everything is footnoted to help further prove why he is so bad for everything and everyone globally.

Yeah, I feel your Texan pain, man! I do get kinda defensive when they say "Send him back to Texas." Hey, hey, I don't want him back, send him to... -insert obscure location here-

The way I see it is as a unemployed, lower-middle class, multi-racial female, that cannot afford to go to school, does not qualify for financial aid and is very, very afraid of student loans because she doesn't know if she'll have a job when she's done with college, well, yeah, I'm not gonna vote for him. Plus, my mom has arthritis and my bf's dad died because he had MS, so stem cell research, yay!

No shit, man! You, me and Fer are all natives, and none of us want him back.

You are definitely his enemy with those creds. What a fucker. Real Christian of him to take money away from people who need it. If you haven't read Al Franken's comic, Supply Side Jesus, you should. So funny and so true.

*high fives you, or something possibly less lame*

As an outsider, I wouldn't have voted for this man even before reading all you posted here. I agree he's bad for everything and everyone globally. The US is the most powerful country in the world and to have such a mad man at the White House is truly crazy. Hopefully he won't be reelected *crosses fingers* or most likely we will all be fucked up.

I hear you. The fact that he doesn't care about our allies' opinions makes it all so much worse...

Well shit, if I'd known I could pray PMS away, I'd have been on my knees for the past 10 years! "Forgive me my bloating and take away my trangressions of chocolate and excessive snippiness." :::Well, Granny's spinning now.::::

I'm pissed off and filled with righteous indignation now. Feels good.

Swear to god, saw a sign on a Baptist church that said, "Women, the most powerful position is on your knees."

Amen!!!

I agree with all of your points but one. The assault weapons ban was a joke. It didn't ban all assault weapons, only certain models and certain size clips. The gun manufacturers simply complied by making new models and different size clips which were essentially the same thing and had a less militaristic look. Now I'm no gun toting, card carrying member of the NRA, but I'm not scared of the assault weapons so much. If you have ever seen the damage that a hollow point .44 or .357 can do, then you know which guns really scare me. There is no verifiable correlation between the weapons ban and lowered rates of violent crime over the last then years. The significant majority of crimes are not committed with assault weapons nor did the weapons ban truly make anyone safer. I do not own a gun myself, but I do feel a little uneasy about leaving all the weapons in the hands of the government. Even Saddam knew the value of an armed populace, and his foresight in that area has proven effective against our attempts to dominate a smaller, less technologically advanced society. On all other points, yeah, they represent many of the reasons that I won't be voting for the Prince of Darkness in November. I'll add another one just for fun. The way he pronounces the word "terror" just makes me cringe, and if I have to spend four more years listening too him say "tara" I will shoot myself in the head with an AK.

Tara and the less vampiric Prince of Darkness

The Brady Institute sis show assault weapon violence down, but that is one insitution... Now, you want to talk scary, talk about .50 caliber steel peircing bullets that can go into the side of a tank. And I bet ya you can pick em up at a gun show. how about buying a gun at a gun show? Sure. Or a garage sale. There are so many issues to hate him for. I just listed the top 10 on my mind today.

here in Texas he took away a mother's right to have the government force dead beat dads to pay child support. They spent all of this money (tax payers)on creating a system through drivers licenses to track them down, and they don't use it. on top of that, if Mom wants Dad to start ponying up the cash he hasn't paid in four years for Jimmy and Tammy, Mom has to shell out fees to get the government to use the system that was already paid for.

Hell, our state govt had to pay the Feds BACK money that was earmarked for school because our state govt didn't use it. On a system set up by and still run by W. Which stands for wanker. I'm surrounded by blind followers who believe what they hear from the pulpit in church on Sunday about our Lord and Savior, George Bush and it just makes me sick.

Thanks for putting your two cents in. I'll make change if yo have any more thoughts. Love to hear it.

I usually have a few pennies in my pocket. Sorry to hear about the sad state of affairs in Texas. As for Dubya worship here in Illinois, it's not so much of a problem. This is one of the states that Kerry is likely to win during the election.

The last governor here, a Republican named George Ryan, left a real bad taste in the mouths of Illinoisans. He was basically in office to help all his buddies and his last act as governor was to clear out death row because of a few coerced confessions. It was an obvious attempt at distracting the media as he was, and I believe is still currently under investigation for fraud. Members of his staff have already been convicted but I doubt that Mr. Ryan will ever spend a single day in jail.

Being in the bible belt as I am, I would have thought that Dubya-ism would be more pandemic here, but we have corn and soybean fields instead of oil fields. Perhaps that's the difference?
