Say, a band I mentioned a while back (and put on the Connor CD Mix) was on Veronica Mars last night! When Daddy Mars drove up next to Sheriff Lamb? This is what Lamb was rocking to: Golden Dogs - Yeah! I love that song.

Our pretty snow has turned into yucky sleet. But I have marshmallows (there is no E in that word, people, auuuugh) for hot cocoa. Sally got to go for a walk today for the first time in a month and OH MY GOD SHE WAS ALL WIGGLES AND LEAPS. I could use an arm massage, jeeeez.

I'm trying to make up jacked-up stuff about rockers lives while reading about things they've actually done. And... you can't make that shit up. Nikki Sixx getting beaten with a baseball bat while dying of an OD in a trashcan - the DAY AFTER HE WAS DECLARED DEAD from an OD? You... you can't top that. Not even Ozzy can top that.

...I'm thinking I need coffee with cocoa mixed in. AND MARSHMALLOWS oh my god. Gimmie a cat and a book and a blanket and my life will be PERFECT. Because tonight is: FNL and Top Chef finale. OH! OH!! For those of you watching Top Chef, I swear to god: Sam is a rough, street version of Jim Halpert from The Office. LOOK AT THEM SIDE BY SIDE!!

vs.

See?!?

Like 'lightening'. Oh my god that bugs me, it's thunder and LIGHTNING. Lightening is what you do to your hair.

YES!!! And, okay, I'll admit that I get to typing quickly and I'll miss that one. BUT I GO BACK AND FIX IT WHERE I CAN.

Hahaha.

Yes, those cute boys are cute in very similar ways.

I am currently being very virtuous about caffiene, and your mention of chocolate in coffee with marshmallows is torturous. But it is better torture than having someone hit me with a mallet so that I go to sleep, so I will endure. And also better than the torture of seeing it spelled "marshmellows" which leads me to suspect the writer talks through their nose.

Julia, suspecting my off switch has gotten damaged, somehow, along with my social skills filter.

One is a fantastic chef, and one is a fantastic prankster. Both are welcomed in my home when the Mister is gone. *g*

I am VERY SORRY that my love of coffee is hurting you. I depend on caffeine like I depend on AIR these days. Heh.

MARSHMELLOW = I've said it once, I'll say it again. That's when frogs are getting high, or doing 'shrooms.

MARSHMALLOW = white fluffy confection.

:D

It's not hurting me so much as it is tempting me to hurt myself. For I am still all drifty-dreamy after it took the mallet of codeine and antihistamine to put me to sleep last night; caffeine might wake me up sufficiently to get some work done on birthday presents due this month.

The mallet was still needed after I went for a long walk with camera trying to get icon-worthy shots of Mt. Rainier at sunset, in below freezing temps, wearing one-too-few layers for the weather, in hope of getting the well known post-thaw drowziness that such activities bring. Didn't work, and now the cows think I'm crazy.

Julia, also that I'm cruel because I brought them no stale cornchips.

I don't know who to root for in the finale tonight. I don't particularly like Ilan or Marcel. The junior high BS from the last couple of episodes? Ugh. HAS TO GO.

From: [identity profile] stoney321.livejournal.com
Up until the headshaving/ragging out loud to the "client" on Marcel incident, I had a BIG YEN for Ilan. I was watching the show STRICTLY to imagine myself as the meat in an Ilan/Sam sammich. Ungh.

I do NOT like Marcel. And I think he recycles the same idea over and over. I thought Sam should be the winner, honestly.

Date: 2007-01-31 09:24 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] southernbangel.livejournal.com
I *heart* Sam. OMG SO HOT. Like Harold last season. ZOMG. However, after the headshaving incident, I lost some respect for him but I still lusted after him and wanted him to "poke" me anytime. I think he's a talented chef who will really do well with his exposure on the show (junior high antics notwithstanding).

Marcel drove me up the wall most of the season, but the constant ganging up on him got old and frankly, made Ilan and Elia look like whiny brats in last week's episode. I think in previous episodes there were justified concerns about Marcel's behavior, but their behavior certainly hasn't left them in the position to condemn him.

That said, it is a competition to find the best chef and while personality is certainly a key ingredient (haha, I r lame), what counts the most is creativity and ability to, you know, cook, which Ilan definitely has in spades over Marcel. I think Marcel definitely has some interesting ideas about food and what can be done with it, but he doesn't translate them well into the actual preparation and serving of the food.

I did like Tom's continued smackdowns of Padma last week. Oh Tom, you so serious. I luff him.

If I had to choose one, I'd probably vote for Ilan. I keep hoping they'll pull a super big twist and have Sam come back. *g*

From: [identity profile] stoney321.livejournal.com
But Sam didn't do anything! He shook his head, don't you remember? (Or is it that he didn't pry Cliff off what's upsetting you? And UNGH, a Cliff/Sam sandwich would be pretty awesome, too.)

I hope Sam comes back, too. I thought he was the most talented of all, and I was SHOCKED that he didn't win last week. I think they're going for the "smackdown of two enemies" personally, which doesn't inneres' me, Doctor. [/Clarice Starling.]

Ilan is a great chef on his own. I think Marcel is just representing weirdness and "creativity" and... DUDE. ENOUGH WITH THE FOAM.

From: [identity profile] southernbangel.livejournal.com
He sat there and laughed while Cliff was manhandling Marcel, who clearly did not want it to happen. To joke about shaving someone's head is one thing, but to wrestle an unwilling participant to the ground while others are laughing and encouraging it, despite the person's protests, is something else. That's what upsets me. Sam may not have physically done anything, but to sit there and do nothing, implicitly encouraging Cliff's actions, upset me.

Uhm, I think I need a towel to wipe up all my splooge. Sorry about that.

And holy frak YES about Marcel and the foam. Dude, give it up. NO ONE LIKES IT.

Date: 2007-01-31 09:54 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] stoney321.livejournal.com
ha, and I'm so cynical that I think a lot of how we saw that play out wasn't exactly how it did. Marcel and Cliff were very cool to each other afterwards for it to be SUCH a big deal, you know? But still. I get your point, too.

FOAM. Tomato flavored foam. No, thanks. And I love me some tomatoes.

Date: 2007-01-31 09:58 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] southernbangel.livejournal.com
Did anyone ever tell Marcel the first time he did the foam that it was good? I don't remember any of the judges liking it, but maybe I missed something? HOW ELSE DO YOU EXPLAIN HIS UNHOLY LOVE OF FOAM?

I was really liking his dishes on the first part of the finale until dadgumit, he FOAMS IT UP AGAIN.

Heee, that icon makes me giggle.

I do agree with the Cliff/Sam sammich. If I was in the middle of that, I would NOT be complaining. Hello, sexy men! Who can cook!

From: [identity profile] zandra-x.livejournal.com
Yeah, Top Chef. I don't even remember the name of the guy that Marcel's going against (and I only remember Marcel because of the hair and because everybody hated him and, really, "Marcel" what a name!) but is the guy Marcel's going against the same guy who did the chocolate-covered chicken livers? Those I remember.

Date: 2007-01-31 09:10 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] stoney321.livejournal.com
Ilan - and I'd rather him win than Marcel, honestly. Marcel's too interested in making images on a plate than things that would taste good - remember the bacon/avocado ICE CREAM? But the chocolate livers? Eugh. I love pate. But...

Date: 2007-01-31 09:26 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] southernbangel.livejournal.com
Hahaha, the bacon/avocado ice cream was horrible. Yuck!

I tell you who I really, really liked up until he got all self-destructive--Cliff. He had some fantastic dishes throughout the competition.

I honestly thought it would be Cliff/Sam in the finale!!

I'm still pretty blown away that it's not.

That would have been the most awesome finale ever! :( Aw damn, Cliff, why you gotta shoot yourself in the foot?

If Sam = Jim does Marcel = Dwight? Actually even though I'm totally Team Marcel at this point I think Marcel = Andy.

From: [identity profile] stoney321.livejournal.com
Nope, still gonna have to pick Ilan over Marcel. (Ilan is HOT! And makes delicious looking Spanish food! Ungh.)

Ahahahaha, Marcel is TEWTALLY Andy.

Ilan is hot and Marcel is annoying and makes strange food but everyone has just been so annoying with this Marcel thing that I want him to win to spite them all. Silly of me, I know.

Honestly I liked Elia the best until last week when a)she clearly made the most uninspired dish and b)let Ilan and Sam convince her to accuse Marcel of something she had no evidence to back up with.

Really I just want the whole season to be over b/c they're all annoying me. I hope Top Design is a good show.

Date: 2007-01-31 09:40 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] stoney321.livejournal.com
I liked Elia pretty well, but I thought she didn't do well under pressure, or being in charge. She'd make a kick ass Sous Chef for a while.

I'm ready for this season to be over, too. Mostly because I won't get my weekly dose of Sam and Cliff hotness. :D

It's a memoir of sorts about growing up in the midwest as a metal fan in the 80's--so it's a mix of stuff about metal, Chuck's views on it, and how he relates it to his life and the grander scheme of things. Thing is, I'm reading it because it's Klosterman, who's hilarious. His writing style is just funny, so it hardly matters what he's talking about. But this one's about metal, and it's awesome even though I don't remember lots of it. The music itself, that is. I think you'd enjoy it.

He also wrote Sex, Drugs and Cocoa Puffs: a low-culture manifesto and Chuck Klosterman 4.

Oh, cool! I kept hearing about Sex, Drugs and Cocoa Puffs, but I haven't picked that up, either.

And I love love LOVE reading about 80s music, metal,and/or rock, especially when it's by someone funny. (Are you watching Metalocalypse? Because you really REALLY should be. All music lovers/band people should!)

(And not yet, because I haven't dl'd it, and we've been watching UFC and Soap. Which, now that I think about it, probably makes us the prime audience.)

Hahahaha, we do too! Here's how much of a purist I am: I REFUSE to accept "The Pianist" as a decent movie for the following reasons:

a) that upright has a 9ft concert grand's sound overdubbed
b) that piano sat on the BEACH in a humid region and didn't need tuning?
c) Harvey Keitel has a black penis, and that's gross and disturbing.
d) it's an anti-feminist movie

But mostly a & b. Man, I cannot WAIT for you guys to watch Metalocalypse and get all the music/band references. So damn funny.

I linked to a column/essay she wrote about Lubbock, Texas. It's so perfect. I grew up on a farm 11 miles from Lubbock, and she so nailed her.

I'm glad she's not suffering anymore, but I'm just stunned by the notion that she gone. :sigh:
