Friday Night Lights. One of the BEST dramas on network television PERIOD.

Dude. DUDE!! I stood up and clutched my pillow when those sheriffs pulled the bus over. Um, did you notice how Mac basically pointed out that his daddy was a Klansman? Um... I may need to rewatch that, but basically, yeah. And how it was hard to shake that stuff because it was everywhere?

And those two deputies wanted to fucking LYNCH SMASH. Or beat the holy tar out of him. (I'm still shaking from a SHOW) Ooooh, if Brian told his mama what happened, that woman would start praying to Jesus and never let that boy out of her sight again, I bet you. And godblessit, I want that Smash Mama to be MY mama, because she is smart, she loves her babies, and she could put the fear of god into anyone.)

I lvoe that Mac stood them down, because you KNOW they thought he would be on their side. And that fat summbitch did the right and scary thing, and MAN ALIVE. Ooh, Laws.

I still say Dillon, TX is based on an East Texas town, not West Texas (because of the majority of black kids vs. the COMPLETE LACK OF HISPANICS, que?

LANDRY. I loved every minute of him tonight. TIM RIGGINS: ditto. JULIE/MATT. Whatever, they're teens and immature and in love and I love that he bought her the necklace and asked her and was in his tights and cleats and she was waiting with a blanket around her shoulder because YES. Yes all of that, mm hmm.

I'm continually bored by Jason/Lyla, and need that to pick up some pace, however. Coach and Tami are still the best parents/couple on TV and I want to be Tami when I grow up, or at least kind of look like her, rawr. COACH.

This SHOW, y'all!!

God dammit, I have to wait too long for football to come back. Shit.

This show so totally rocks -- HARD! The entire episode was made of win. Just (babbles) the awesomest of awesome. Matt/Julie were all kinds of sweet. Landry was hilarious perfection. Smash's mom is in the running for best mom ever. And Tami Taylor is in the running too. Coach's hair put on a great performance (as did the coach himself). And on and on.

I love this show.

Show was great again. Really like the extended ensemble they've got going... and they're finally starting to fix the disconnect between Tyra's scenes and the rest of the cast.

We knew Smash's mom was awesome, and while it's been a very abbreviated subplot - I like what they've done with Mac and race relations to this point. It's sort of a surface treatment, but I like that it doesn't pretend to be 'covering it' or 'wrapping it up'

Yeah, I agree re: Tyra. And... it almost seemed like she's trying to have Julie's influence help her, you know? But she can't help who she is, and that she doesn't get that sweet little Julie is going to be SO OUT OF PLACE in a strip joint... Okay, maybe she just doesn't care, LOL.

ANd yeah - they address stuff and they don't FIX it. It's not some after-school special on race relations. And oooooo, I'm expecting some kind of show down with Smash's mama and his new girl. "Don't you be fillin' my boy's head with that foolishness now, you hear?" It's coming.

Oh, and COME ON with Landry. Ahahaha. He was GOLD this episode, as he is in every episode. I love that character so much, because it's so REAL. He's an idiot, but thinks he's smarter than he is, and has a huge heart that he will willingly give to anyone that will give him the time of day.

Or has tits. You know, whichever. Hahahaha.

I was sort of surprised that never came up more explicity... that it never occurs to Tami that it's not just Tyra the bad girl bad influence on Julie... but that maybe Tyra needs good influences. And the knowledge that if it wasn't her daughter. Tami probably would actually be looking out for Tyra.

Parents can get like that sometimes.

I was screaming at the refs. LOL. I looked at Chris and said, "That was totally pass interference. Right?" And he nodded and then I yelled "FACE MASK!!!!!!!" quickly followed by "OMG, that was totally a late hit. WTF?" I was so upset. And then that kid called Smash a tar baby and it was on. I am way to invested in this show that I would have been involved in that brawl. Seriously.

My love for Tami just keeps growing. She is freaking amazing. I loved when Coach went to her for advice and spoke to the guidance counselor, his wife, and his friend. And then said the three of them frustrate him. They are so awesome together.

Tami is like... she's fucking perfect. That actress is just amazing. The character is absolute love.

Yep, that's what they called him. I was seriously shocked, but also impressed that the writers would come up with something they could pull off on TV during that hour and be offensive without causing network censors to flip out. When Tim responded to it I may have come a little bit in my pants. Proud doesn't even begin to cover it. He stepped up like Smash had been challenging him to. It may not have been the best move over all, but it was leadership of a sort. People followed him, right? *g*

IT IS!! And... it bugs me when people are flip about it (don't you be flippant with me! Do not be flip. Don't you do that. Don't you break our trust - heh) and say it's a teen drama, or a high school drama.

Because... that makes people think of the OC or some shit like that. This show, imo, is almost on par with Rome as far as intricate storytelling goes.

And... because I've experienced it my whole life, I wonder if it's because it's a small Texas town, because small town down in the lower US = d-u-m. >:(

You know, the book was about my high school, kind of. We weren't the main focus of of the book.

It was really about Permain, but I grew up in Midland and attended Lee High. Friday Night Lights was written during my senior year of high school. We were just about the only team back then that could beat Permain. Go Rebels! Ha Ha.

But I remember it all so well. I just thought I'd share that.

Oooh, cool! And you'll get what I'm saying about how they're mixing East and West Texas with this: not ONE hispanic person I've seen - oh, wait. There was one on the football team in the beginning.

But- NO Hispanic cheerleaders or football players on a WEST TEXAS football team. Just... Yeah, that's been bugging me since Day 1. BUT. The show is really excellent, small quibble aside.

It has extraordinary storytelling. I think Jason's storyline is more compelling if you look at his tryouts for the quad-rugby team parallelling his former team trying to get to state. He had his entire world swept out from under him and look at him, right back to the level he was before, even though it is on a separate plane.

Tim Riggins owns me.
