I noticed today that there have been these slow trickles of defriending (and seriously, I'm not bothered by that sort of thing) and I'll assume it's because a) I'm crude b) I'm not posting content you want to read and/or c) this is not the journal you were looking for. *jedi mind wipe* So I'll just put it out there: I won't care if you need to leave. If you're just hanging on, hoping to slink away some distant day, don't worry about me. I'll be fine. I'll cut my wrists, sure, but I'll be fine. *bites lip* I'm probably not going to ever ever change (just ask my parents) so if you're unhappy with my LJ on your flist, no harm, no foul. :D

*claps hands* Now that's out of the way... I had my friend Alison's kids over for the day and I am worn out. Did I send her home with tired, cranky, sugar-filled children? Everything but the sugar part, for I am croo-elle. (Hey - the rule was: eat your lunch, and we bake cookies later. They didn't eat their lunches, so... *hands*)

They are sweet kids, just a bit whiny (they're used to that working on their worn-out mother.) I finally coaxed the little one (nickname: "Breezy." I defy you to come up with a cuter name for a curly-haired tow-head!) onto the trampoline, and boy, did I wear those chubby little legs out. Hence the cranky. They'll pass out for their mama, which was my plan. :D My #2 is going to be in high demand in a few short years as a babysitter. She's so damn funny and responsible. <3 The Boy was very sweet and loving to Breezy - he's always wanted a little brother, and I think he likes how the little dude hangs on his every word. D'aww.

We watched "The Last Unicorn" which was a tad too long for the under 5 set, but at the end *SPOILER ALERT - ha ha* when the unicorns are revealed to be the foam on the sea, Kate (their older girl, and Emily's best friend) stood up with her hands in the air like \o/ and squealed, "there they are! I see them, oh I see them!" and absolutely GLOWED. Heeeee! *claps hands like we need to save Tinkerbell!!*

Then we talked about how Spring comes when unicorns walk through a place, so we debated where the unicorns passed down our street, because clearly Spring is springing. Then we played "Crack the Egg" for an hour on the trampoline.

You know, I'll be the first to admit that I don't tend to like other people's kids. They are usually whiny, petulant, bad mannered, and that's just the parents! [/rimshot] But, I LOVE these kids. They're so ready to be playful and silly. I can't understand a child that can't be silly. Well, most adults I can't understand for the same reason, either.

Now if someone could just get me to stop quoting Chistopher Lee: "I knew... you were... the LAAAAAAST!" that would be great.

ETA I forgot to add the whole reason I wanted to post: my MOTHER IN LAW. She called (and why must she always sound so SHOCKED that the phone works? (I have caller ID) "Hi, MiL." "Oh, Laura?" In a voice that sounds like she was trapped in a cave and someone switched on a torch. And it's every. Single. Time. she uses the phone. "Oh? Oh!" GAH - after all these years don't you know the phone has a voice at the other end when you Hulk-smash the numbers?! Anyway, she called to tell me I may or may not be invited to dinner at her house tomorrow. I KID YOU NOT. I may... OR MAY NOT be. Because she's not sure if it will be okay with my husband's brother, who is up for a short visit. *eye roll* Let's just hope it's "may not" and save some trouble, okay? What is WRONG with this woman? I've got her on senility check. *points peace sign towards her face, touches my eyes with the same, points back*

A final note to tell all of you out there needing hugs and love and peace and quiet time: I've been thinking about each one of you, and hoping you'll find some happiness soon. I'm not always good about elbowing in to people's journals and forcing sugar on you, but just know I'm hoping things are okay. Much love to you all!

I know what you mean about not liking most folks kids. We have a local friend whose child talked in the most affected Minne Mouse voice for YEARS and was consciously "cute." OMG ::facepalm::

On the other hand, I adore my sister's kids, and the largest regret I have about moving away from the south is missing being with them as they grew up. Smart, funny, silly and did I mention the funny? So great. C is coming up to Harvard next year, so at least I can venture forth and have perodic swellings of auntly pride and make her giggle until her cheeks turn pink.

I want to point out that I have not been moping about, but writing poooorn. Or backstory for AU characters who've become porn stars. It's a dirty job, but someone has to do the exposition.

::smoooooches you::

Hahahaha, for a second I thought this was my older sister (I'm still getting used to the lj name change - hee!) and was all "of COURSE you like your sister's kids, because they are awesome!" *points to my babies* Hahahahaha.

Oh, honey, I wasn't implying you were moping about! There are some folks who have suffered some horrendous loses lately, and I've been at a loss for how to properly comfort them, is all. But YAY FOR WRITING!! I bet you feel all productive and sexay.

Oh no, I was just sayin' that for oncet in recent weeks, things are going well and I'm not coughing up a lung or summat like that. AND MY WRITING BLOCK IS GONE. Hm, it sounds like I need to go come through the flistage to see what's going on.

Heeeee!! Gosh, I just love it when little kids are so far into their imaginations that it is REAL. The littlest one is DEFINITELY in that stage. He was all ready to charge outdoors and pat the unicorn making the blossoms appear in my garden. HEEEEEE!

Sounds like a *very* successful play day! Hahaha, you totally were strong and withheld cookie making! I would have crumbled. Oh HO! Do you see what I did there? Ba dum CHHHHHHHH!

Hahaha to your mother in law. Now, who knows? Perhaps she's built a sekkrit cave in case of Armageddon...oh, wait, no, they're kind of...reserved!Protestants, aren't they? Hmmm. A cave of her mind? *does wavy fingers in the air*

But yeah, that's odd, her alert that you might or might not make the guest list. I guess she wants to give you a heads up, and ... remind you that your brother in law doesn't like you, I don't know? *hands* It's the restricted oxygen in the cave. She can't think!

I am happy to see your puns, as they signal a joyous (and hopefully pj'ed EntreNous!) return to good feelings within!

They're Episcopalians, but they don't care for High Church as she likes to be a feminist and wear pants. (She actually says this.) Her mind is a CAVE, YES. (Oh, #2 sees that I'm talking to you and she told me to tell you to hurry up and come and AI rocks. Apparently she's a big fan and I'm FINALLY on board thanks to you. Hee!)

Well, I'll just sit here on this pillow of pins and needles waiting to hear if I get to come over and eat the same meal we have every time I go over there! *licks claw* HEEE.

Haaaa! Hi there, lurker! You just comment any ol' time, I don't mind that sort of thing, honest. I worry that people are afraid to DE-friend, like, I'll post a woe is me sort of thing and blanket them in guilt. I'm not about that sort of thing, so I was more reminding people that they can come and go as they please with no worries.

Now I'm singing the Rocky theme song, ready to post away some more! :D

Dude, can I bring my kids to your house for a play date? Of course, but the time I have kids, we will be old and decrepit and instead of "Crack the Egg" we can play "Is She Dead?" Good times, good times.

Also the "may or may not be invited" deal? CLASSIC. We must swap stories.

CLEAR! *defibrillates* Good times, good times. :D

OH MY GOD LEE. Given what we've been emailing this afternoon, HA, I say. I swear, the next time we talk, I'm doing the Voice for you. She's so surprised, and a little afraid that there's a voice on the other end of the plastic at her ear.

EVERY TIME! *bites nails, hoping to eat Carrot Dimes and other 1964 recipes from Good Housekeeping* <-- I am SUCH a bitch, hahahaha!

"Hellooooooo? Is there someone there? What is this thing?" Even a two-year-old knows how a phone works. HAHAHAHA, does she hold the phone wrong side up?

That icon cracks me up. I have this slow, rumbly, kind of dumb-sounding voice in my head with the "Let's be friends."

I'm always surprised by young kids who are very serious. I had a boss years ago with a three year old named Matthias. He did not go by Matt or Matty. Just Matthias and he was so very serious all the time. It was like he was an old man in a 3-yr-old body. He was very nice and well-behaved, but he just could not relax.

Hmmm, were his parents considerably older? I've noticed that first time children from much older parents (over 40 at their child's birth) tend to have serious, quiet children. Probably because they're calmer, themselves.

But I just can't relate to those kids, you know? In other news, we just finished playing Monopoly here and my daughter CRIED when I took all of her money. LIFE IS SWEET. Ahahaha.

Not too much older. Mom was 30 or 31 when she had him and I think her husband's age is about the same (or else he looks much younger than he is). They're pretty serious people too, though. If Chris and I ever have that kid I want, s/he will be incredibly silly. For now I have Buddy. And he's pretty silly sometimes too. :)

She cried? Aw. I hate Monopoly. Always have. When I was kid we played Scrabble and I never won, of course, and I would cry. But I still always wanted to play. That and Tri-ominoes (which I could actually win sometimes).

No, no, no, no!! We were having fun and being goofy, and she cried when she lost in a THEATRICAL way. Whoops, I forget you haven't met my little weridoes, I mean, my children. *g*

TRIOMINOES. Oh my gosh, I haven't played that in ages! I loved that game! (We're big fans of board games here.)

Oh well, theatrical crying is okay then. Very good, in fact.

I like board games. Chris does not. *sigh* I still get to play scrabble online though, so I get my fix that way.

There was also booty shaking every time someone landed on your property accompanied by an impromptu song.

Randomly she would hold her properties up to her nose and sniff and say, "Mmmm. I smell a winner." HAHAHA. I love my kids. Come stay with me and we'll play all the games you want. RAWR. :D

The defriending is from the furries. They hates you now, precious, because you judged them and thought that their 'perfectly normal' way of getting their jollies was a tad odd.

Ugh. Furries. I mean, on a personal level, nice people. But just in concept... ugh.

You would have loved my kids. They were born nuts and haven't improved. (I actually had a conversation with Zachary today. It turns out he hasn't forgotten the English language after all.)

If you'd like, I can call your b-i-l and tell him that Laura's got cooties, so please make sure she doesn't come to dinner.

I have a strong suspicion that he doesn't know me and the kids are being invited to visit him and his boy, or the call wouldn't have been made at all. (He doesn't... care for me. What the fuck ever.) And since my husband gets home late tomorrow night and flies out Saturday for a week overseas, I don't think we want to squander our precious time together as a family. *g*

Yay for silly kids! Boys especially. We always had my dad's music students as babysitters growing up, and they were the goofiest, most fun boys ever. I loved it. <3

I too was croo-elle yesterday, to my DI team kids when I didn't let them eat TWO of the *gigantic* cookies that I gave them for their meeting snack (a special sugar-y snack for their last pre-tournament meeting). Sheesh, those kids are bottomless pits when it comes to sweets. I told them that if they were hungry they could eat the beautiful grapes that I had sitting right there! But no, guess they weren't really all that hungry...

I know Alison was delighted to have kids that toppled into bed like logs felled by a lumberjack. That makes for a sweet evening.

Oh my gosh, i know! BOTTOMLESS PITS. Or as my dad says to my boy, "Son, do you have a hollowed out leg you're trying to fill up?" TWO cookies? They should be so lucky! :D

Did you have a lovely day, though? The snippet you commented about sounded perfect for you - all of your favorite things! I hope you felt loved and special, Anne-girl!

It's true, I find you tasteless and crude. Which is why you're on my flist! *clings*

Dude, kids. The thing is, I thought I liked them, until I interacted with more of them. They're so loud and snotty and oblivious and sometimes I want to sit on them. But Kids I Like are a different animal. I like them better than almost all grown up people. They play and then I get to play and no one every PLAYS at my age any more, which is a travesty, because I AM NOT OLD. I need to watch The Last Unicorn again. I hadn't heard that about spring, I don't think. I love that.
