It's Wednes- FRIDAY! It's FRIDAY! [/Dethklok]

1. I'm rocking out like the Gopher to "Any Way You Want It." Whoo and a hoo.
2. I come with music of my own (to share) namely, Let Down, a Radiohead cover by Off The Beat that is REALLY GOOD - like, it makes me very very happy. (Most Radiohead covers are not good.)
3. And also with No Surprises, a second Radiohead cover by Amanda Rogers. These covers work because they aren't trying to BE Radiohead. Which is why most of them suck. [/Simon Cowell-esque]
4. Toxic, a Britney Spears cover by Nickel Creek, hahaha! They make this song AWESOME.
5. Mr. S is back from Amsterdam and he brought me back clogs, but they're FUZZY HOUSE SHOES. And they're hilarious and soft and squishy. YAY.
6. I posted that Boarding School Fic I've been talking about last night at a weird time, so for those of you that were interested, it's right here.
7. I need to figure out how to make a fountain/water feature for my garden today, and buy a new camera to show you how gorgeous the colors are that are coming up. Eeee! SPRING.
8. Some fics of interest, as they are not getting the fb they should: [livejournal.com profile] ladycat777's Percy fic, and [livejournal.com profile] brandil's FNL threesome fic. I have a lot of fics tagged at my del.ic.ious page that I'll be getting to this weekend, as well, HURRAH.

FRIDAY! It's FRIDAY!!

Awww, thank you for the pimp! I didn't think anybody was gonna read it, honestly. And thank you for reccing me to [livejournal.com profile] floweringjudas that was very cool.

Also: FUZZY SLIPPERS! THAT IS SO AWESOME!! I don't know why I was usually all caps there. And nickel creek! I love Nickel Creek :)

You are more than welcome! Floweringjudas is the go-to girl for all things Percy in the Hogwarts Elite world, so I knew she'd be all over that one. (She has some amazing fics in her journal, if you're interested. Dark and achy. She's a WONDERFUL writer.)

Fuzzy slippers! They are HILARIOUS and lovely. They jut out and curl up just like wooden ones would do. Heee! Nickel Creek is fantastic, and I have to say, the a-capella cover that UPENN's Off The Beat does makes me so freaking happy. That is one of my most favorite Radiohead songs that rips me up and puts me together again, so they're version is just LOVELY!!

Ahahahaha, WHOOPS! I didn't mean to ruin your rep, yo! I got music from you and someone else (sdwolfpup? I think so...) and got you mixed up. *fixes like whoa*

(I just didn't want to take credit for other's labors, is all.)

If you hunt down Sophie Kohs cover of Creep, its worth it. I think its on a album called Like A Version 2, if memory serves. Australian and international acts doing covers. Its pretty good.

Oooh, thanks! I'm not familiar with that version, so yay! Now, keep in mind I'm REALLY fussy when it comes to covers, because if you can't re-tool it to be yours (as a musician) then leave the song alone, imo.

But I like it when women cover male vocals, and vice versa. I'll seek that out right now!

The whole albums worth a listen particularly the Eels' "I could never be your man" and Tegan and Sarah's "Dancin' in the Dark". I personally think the first 'Like a Version" is better. It has a jangly rock cover of Kelis' "Milkshake" and the best non-Cohen version of "Hallejuh" ever. If only I could hear that song without thinking of a dozen depressing tv montages.

If you can't find it try searching JJJ or Triple J.

Ooh, that album sounds great! I like Tegan and Sarah. And hahahaha to the TV montage. DUDE. I'm SO TIRED of every show ending with a heartfelt acoustic song as a slow-mo montage of everyone's pain flashes on screen. ENOUGH. :D

I'll def. be hunting that album down!

I've probably already mentioned this to you, but the same radio station that does those covers also has free mp3s on their site, updated regularly. Best radio station in the world, government-funded but still plays independent music than pretty much any other station.

They also stream for all the Aussie ex-pats overseas. Oh, and you missed it this year but on Australia Day (Jan. 26), they do the Hottest 100. Biggest music vote in the world and count down the best 100 songs (local and international) for that year. Enjoy, I love turning people onto good music!

PS You might get lucky and hear the blessing/curse of skip-hop (aussie hip-hop, very hit and miss, an acquired taste for sure.)

Those slippers! I love those slippers!

The rains have made all my bulbines bloom like crazy things, and the mountain laurels and wysteria are going mad with gorgeousness, too. I love Spring!

SLIPPERS!! I love them, and now I have to take them off because it's raining here, too, and I don't want to go out in public in them ruin them. :D

The wysteria is making me SO HAPPY with its smell. I keep swearing to put a mountain laurel in my landscape, but I have to wait a bit. GAH. *wants*

*is looking at Eeyore slippers with deep dissatisfaction*

The mountain laurel took forever to grow, but it bloomed a year after we put it in. It was a 5 galloner 13 years ago, and now it's c. 12' and lousy with blooms.

Eeeeee!! How much am I loving the Brit cover? Lots. The strings! <333!!

Have you ever heard Train's cover of 'Hit Me Baby One More Time'? Who knew it was a good song? They did. Or a least they made it so.

Oooh, I'm going to listen to the cover of Toxic soon!

Just as soon as "Ice, Ice, Baby!" stops playing on my radio. O_o

Bookmarked the final post of your story, and the other two you rec'd!

I have no reason for this icon other than that I feel like using it. And I maybe want a funnel cake.

You SHOULD use that icon! Because yes, funnel cake, all hot and sweet and sticky, would make all things better! *assumes* Plus, your icon kinda makes me want to cuddle up with Andrew. :D

That version of Toxic is SO GOOD. I think you might like the Let Down cover, too. It's like... PEPPY. And really really good.

Brandi called me last year from MerleFest and held the phone up while Nickel Creek played "Toxic". She knows I love both Nickel Creek and Britney. It was like the best of both worlds. :)

I have your fic opened to read when I have a chance. *smooch*

From: [identity profile] stoney321.livejournal.com
HEEEEEEEE. I love that song - it's the BEST OF BOTH WORLDS.

Oooh, I can't wait for your thoughts on the fic! (It's the one I sent you back in December...) heh heh.

Date: 2007-03-23 09:49 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] moosesal.livejournal.com
*blush* Yeah, when I saw it posted I had a "D'oh!" moment. You totally should have nagged me. Sometimes I need nagging. Just ask Brandi. ;-)

I love "Toxic". I've got a great Nickel Creek cover of "Taxman" too. If you're interested in that, let me know.

And I've got Billy Boyd's performance of Britney's "Baby One More Time" from Sharon Osborne's show. It's a great cover too, I wish I had software to edit out the talking before the song. ;-)

Hahaha, no worries. I sent it to like, three of you, and no one sent anything back! I took it as a sign it sucked. Then I pulled my head out of my ass and tried again. :D

Oooh, I'd love that cover of Taxman, if it's no trouble, thanks!

Here it is: http://download.yousendit.com/40C656A34E63FA8B

Hopefully it works. I think it was an iTunes download and I know sometimes you can't share those, so if you can't play it let me know and I'll see if there's some way I can convert it on my end.

And never assume something sucks if you don't hear from me. Seriously, I'll tell you if it sucks. If I say nothing it's because I got distracted by other things. I recently did a beta that was multi-chaptered. On the last chapter (while Brandi was here) I told the authors when I'd get it back to them, that I'd be out that day skiing but I'd take the laptop with me. When I got home that evening I had two LJ comments, and e-mail, and a phone message asking after it. Now I don't actually need that much nagging, but a comment or an e-mail inquiry certainly won't bother me.
