I meant to post this morning, but life got away from me. For those worried about the tornadoes here, there were no touchdowns in my neighborhood, although some places south and west of us got absolutely pounded. I've never seen hail that large (even though I only saw it on screen = the size of a half dollar!! One man's car looked like someone jumped on it with a pogo stick - it can kill you when it's that size.) We didn't even get a drop of rain, as we were under the north wall of the funnel cloud front, and everything drops from the southern wall. (Tornadoes are cool. And scary.)

I got some amazing photographs of the clouds forming, however, and through a retelling of "The 3 Little Pigs" gwas able to get my Emily to go to sleep without nightmares. (Huffed and puffed, but they couldn't blow the house of bricks down.) Next time I'll have to use the Wizard of Oz...

I'm behind on a million things, so I wish you all a happy Tuesday! WEDNESDAY, i is s-m-r-t!!

Happy Tuesday! *g*

I'm glad you are unscathed by tornados. That sounded scary.

Thank you! (It was pretty scary - mostly because I was trying to keep the kids calm, gah.)

I'm glad to hear you're safe! I was studying in Highland Park and saw the clouds piling up and pretty much hightailed it home before the rain started falling, because things just looked so...off.

We used to live in Kansas when I was much younger, so I've some fun run-ins with funnel clouds and hail and the like. *fond memories*

LOL! So it's not an inside joke so much as blackouts from your last bender, is that it? ::pats your bum::

I'm so glad you and your family are alright. I was totally wigging out when you said you were turning off comments and the electricity. GOT FREAKED, YO. :) Huge sigh of relief that you guys managed to miss it. I can't wait to see these pictures, because while tornados terrify me to no end, they are also fascinating, ZOMG. ;)

*hugs!* We are fine - and we just make it a practice to turn off phones, etc. in electrical storms here, as the lightening bolts can arc 5 miles long! Yeesh. We've fried modems from lightening strikes in the past!

Happy Hump Day! Also v good about the tornadoes.

Dude, one summer when I was about 10, we had a hailstorm where the hail was as big as baseballs. For srs. XD A guy was mowing the Dixie Youth baseball field while the storm was going on (dumbass) and totally got knocked out cold by one.

Yay to you all being fine! *hugs*

I was amused by your comment on your previous post about the coach being Canadian - I suspect I would have had a similar reaction, "But it's not snowing", so it's very good he listened to you! *g*

Hee hee! I mean, he wants to tell me about de-icing? I'm all over his expertise! (And the coach is a GREAT guy. I've yet to meet anyone from Canada that I didn't like, honestly!)

Me, too! I mean, tornadoes I grew up with, so I don't take them lightly. I've seen paper driven through phone poles like it was a knife in a slab of wood. All from the force of the wind! There's a good reason we moved to this exact spot - tornadoes historically have circled this little patch of prairie...

No victim! Just witness! And since the Oak CLiff tornado had its anniversary TWO DAYS before this storm, we're all a little wary, is what's going on.

(I didn't meant to panic anyone, I just know that when I hear of bad weather for my flisters, I want to know they're okay.) I have three more shots to take on this roll (is SO old fashioned) and then I'll have many pics!

So glad to hear that your family is all right! That hail sounded bad, very bad. Oddly enough, we also had hail here this morning. But ours was tiny-sized. It's so cold here! We had just enough warm weather to give us a taste for it, and then it was cruelly yanked away! *whines*

Date: 2007-04-04 06:44 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] stoney321.livejournal.com
Why is Mother Nature so cruel, as to take away your warmth?? CLearly you should move to the south - we don't even have black flies! :)

That hail was ASTOUNDING. The news reports this morning showed acres of car lots with damaged hoods, like kangaroos jumped all over them. YOW.

Like I told you in the email, as long as I still have a place to stay, I don't care if your kids got blown away. Because it is all about me!me!me! As long as *I* am not affected, pfft to you.

:DDDDD

Super glad you're A-OK! We hardly get tornadoes here (that would be to the west and north of Birmingham really. Suckers. :P) but we can get the after-effects. I freak out about those so I can't imagine how crazy I would be if I was actually *in* the tornado's path.

Someone stood on their porch last night and got a shot of the funnel cloud and sent it to the local news, it looked JUST LIKE Dorothy's twister! It didn't actually touch down until it was 20 miles south-west of my house, so I could only see the front and wall of water. (Like looking in a car wash!)

YOUR PLACE IN MY HOME IS SECURE. I am now sealing it off with reinforced steel to keep it that way until your arrival, over.

:D and ♥!!
