2. I have submitted an abuse report re: decapitation video
3. They already have a code looking for the very video on the [ru] servers (russian) <-- someone was paying attention this weekend.

Abuse reports of this nature are always private until resolved - once I get a response I'll definitely share it.

Yeah. Me, too. I assumed, since there was an official statement by SUP that the post had actually been reported to the LJ abuse team. But, now I'm not so sure. (Which, you know, is why a statement from LJ would be especially useful....)

Well SOMEONE had to have reported it already since there was press about it AND a statement by LJ in Russia. LJ marking their complaint reports invisible once received isn't helping matters.

I think all abuse reports are auto-filtered to a private setting, actually, if it's about specific topics like hate crime, child abuse, self-harm, etc.

I'm sure many in Russia have reported it. The vast majority of Russian bloggers were outraged by this.

Well, to be fair, horrible people are everywhere. Just because the method for posting was chosen by the rotten jerk was his LJ doesn't make LJ an accomplice to this event. That's been my stance from day 1.

Well, the Russian division *did* make a statement of sorts. It's in the police's hands in Russia, since the CRIME OF DECAPITATING SOMEONE is what's important here, not the method in which the murderer shared his crime. It was deleted off the LJ server originally. Unfortunately, as is the nature of the internet, multiple copies of the video are turning up. And it's not just LJ that has them cropping up. It's appeared multiple times on YouTube (where it was originally hosted.) etc. etc.
