Why did I watch the Emmys?
Sep. 17th, 2007 09:51 amIs it just me, or is the Emmys becoming more and more boring every year? I watched in hopes of Jon Stewart/TDS or the Colbert Report would win and give us a funny acceptance speech, but Tony freaking Bennet won? I was also disappointed that Alec Baldwin didn't break into his hilarious Tony Bennet impression while on stage. Meh. However, I am glad I watched for one reason: one woman had some really weird boob action, and I had to pause the DVR, drag my husband in, and make sure I wasn't going crazy.
I have no idea who this actress is. I have no idea what show she is on. And I have no idea how her handlers could have let her out without taping her tube boobs up into some roundish fashion, instead of going for the coke bottle look. OH MY GOODNESS. They're not even pointing in the same direction - or are the same LENGTH. <-- a word not to be used in conjunction with breasts.

Do not think that those are unfortunate folds in her dress. We paused it on our TV (large and in charge HD) and you could see nipple action. That is what happens when you lose too much weight, people: you lose it from your boobs and they take on the appearance of deflating bottles. Ack.
Had a fabulous weekend with too much good food (is there such a thing?) good times with my sweetheart of a cousin, and a wrap party for Blood on the Highway Saturday night that kept me out until 4am. \o/ I'm still tired. Man alive, there are some fun people involved with this. Best of all was hanging with my hilarious sister and her fiance, and my buddy Casey who does the BEST Christopher Walken impression. Laughed my ass off for six hours that night. YAY! Oh, and I will be working on another film this December, which is tres exciting. (Not the sequel to BotH - another movie!) Life is fine, people. Life is fine. There are friends, comfy beds, good smelling foods, people I love... Good times.
I spoke with
entrenous88 this morning and it brightened my day - and now I want to bake a pie. Yesterday was the FANTASTIC
marenfic's birthday, and I promise to give her spankings to her in person when she comes to visit (with
southernbangel in less than two weeks (WHOOOOOO!) and I may just take a nap with a book outside in our cooling weather. AHHHH, Life is so pleasant!! There's something I'm forgetting... I'll ETA if I think of it. Off to go exercise, then do some laundry and book reading (Which Lie Did I Tell? by William Goldman, and Vellum, by Hal Duncan.)
Are you all happy today?! Do you have something delicious to eat? Something to look forward to? Good music? <3 <3 <3 <3 (Oh, Lynne - I'll have your song in a few hours. It slipped my mind, but I'll get on it now!)

Date: 2007-09-17 03:04 pm (UTC)Also, the cast of Desperate Housewives looked like famine victims. It was scary.
The guy that plays Mohinder on Heroes is smoking hot. No, really.

I was in a horrid, self-indulgent, depressive funk of insecurity (my childhood issues rearing their ugly heads again), but I stopped myself from writing a maudlin and pathetic LJ post (go, me), and instead have turned on music really loud and eaten a piece of the banana bread I made yesterday. So there.

Date: 2007-09-17 05:33 pm (UTC)And the stupidest things put me right back in that grade-school despair, you know? And then I'm even more depressed that I still haven't left it behind, even if it stays stuffed in a closet most of the time. I couldn't even tell you what it was this morning - probably the look on somebody's face - even among the hippy school parents, I'm a freak. I don't know why it surprises me after all this time.

Date: 2007-09-17 07:27 pm (UTC)But you know, you aren't the freak, THEY ARE for all wanting to look like each other. I mean, the next thing they'll do is start wearing black Nikes, you know? You are interesting and FUN and talented and not boring and have something to SAY and have interesting thoughts, and have you tried having a conversation with any of those people? Bores you to tears, doesn't it?
And you know, the Alphas don't like weirdoes. They like cool people. So. *G*

Date: 2007-09-17 03:38 pm (UTC)That actress is Kathryn Morris from Cold Case. EXCELLENT SHOW btw. It's one of the few that is able to kick my ass and often make me cry...usually due to their use of well-picked music and closing "montage". I never would have guessed she had tube boob! At least on the show she never looks that way.
Have fun with your visitors and your upcoming movie! I can't wait to hear about that one, too. Also? MMM, pie! Bake one. Do eeet!

Date: 2007-09-17 06:14 pm (UTC)Usually a new piece of evidence comes to light and the team investigates it (a lot of interviews that lead the team to more and more AND MORE suspects lol).
What I like about it is they have flashbacks, always using period sets and music, as well as actors who portray the folks involved in the victim's life at the time of murder, and other actors who look scarily alike playing the "older" versions the detectives interview currently.
Unfortunately, it's not available on DVD due to copyright issues with all the various music the use. Which is kinda silly, since they were allowed to use it as the show airs. *shrug* Anyway, it's on CBS Sunday, and TNT Monday, if you want to give it a shot. :)

Date: 2007-09-17 03:45 pm (UTC)It's an absolutely gorgeous day out there. I was amazingly efficient this morning, going to the drugstore and the grocery store and unpacking all the groceries and making it to library volunteer time bing! on the dot. Only to find that there was another volunteer there. (We haven't quite worked out the schedule yet.) But that was ok because I needed to do stuff, buy cat food, make calls and work.
Speaking of books! I finally got God is Not Great! I have many thoughts on it -- should start a letter to you. Only read the intro and first two chapters so far. I gave up on the library and bought my own copy after realizing that I was number SIXTY-EIGHT in line. NO LIE. My library has a computerized catalog that you can log in to from home and check your holdings, and I looked to see where I was in line.

Date: 2007-09-17 07:33 pm (UTC)Oh, is it a beautiful New England fall day? The leaves starting to turn? A nip in the air with the promise of pie? (Can you tell I talked to Jess today? Hee!) But good for you on being so dedicated to your To Do List!! Now you have the day to yourself and the fam without those chores hanging over your head. (I've done that, too, showing up when I'm not scheduled? D'oh!)
I am DYING to hear your thoughts about that book!! I have lots of thoughts simmering at the surface that I need to organize about religion from my visit with my Mormon cousin. (She finally knows now that I am an atheist. ) How cool that so many people want the book! But how sucky that so many people wanted the book! Ha. Feel free to tell me all of your thoughts!

Date: 2007-09-17 04:47 pm (UTC)I had a similar reaction when I saw that couple (#1 WHO ARE THEY? then #2 there's something...off...about her). But I pinpointed the off-ness to the fact that she seemed to me about 20-something below the neck and 60-something above it.
However, I hadn't noticed the boob-oddities - I was focused on the weird hair - so now my theory is that it's more like she's 60 all over and has a Dorian Gray kind of thing going on. Maybe her painting is more post-modern/Cubist than life-like in flavor and there's more of a connection between how the painting looks and how she looks than happened with Dorian.

Date: 2007-09-17 07:35 pm (UTC)Ahahahahaha to Dorian Gray.

I'm glad you had a good weekend!!!

Date: 2007-09-17 09:00 pm (UTC)sadly caffeine is not an option for me because it makes me uber anxious. i did have some protein at lunch. probably not enough, but some.
Now I am in my office and am completely useless for work. uselessuseless. I am going to try to motivate enough to send some emails but that may be the extent of my ability to function today.

ILU LEE. I need to hold your hand and listen to EVERYTHING with you: also, WHOOOOOO 'BAMA! (And let's hear it for UT - that was a GREAT game - and for the Cowboys, uh huh!)

Date: 2007-09-17 08:13 pm (UTC)HOLY SMOKES, ALABAMA. I didn't know if I would survive that game. We were doing so well and then OF COURSE we started slacking. But then! But then we came back and won OMG WE WON WE WON WE WON!!! <---- That was pretty much the entire refrain I yelled while running up Maren's stairs to get out on their porch in order to call my mom and celebrate. (I. . . may have been a tad obnoxious.)
GREAT weekend for college football: Alabama, UT, Tennessee got SPANKED, ND sucked Michigan's cock, Auburn lost. . .
