(Side note for knitters/crocheters on my flist: I picked up some fabulous Color Concept Schaefer yarn this past weekend, the Dian Fossey, and it's flipping GORGEOUS. That link (when you click on her name)? That's actual size. I have a fabulous fat and soft scarf now. I really REALLY need to learn how to knit - I want to make sweaters out of that stuff. Mmmm. HAPPY NEW YEAR! I think I am the sole person on my flist that quite liked 2007 - there were some very bad moments, as all years have, but it had some of the best moments of my life.



Rough:
The Boy's official diagnosis (I'm not ready to talk about it yet)
Health scares with the in-laws (which is now a good, as Things Have Been Taken Care Of)
losing our cat Scrappy (aww. He looked like Bridgett Marquardt's cat.)
The Boy starting Junior High
the depression I didn't know I had
the WEIRDNESS of my former friend going off the deep end (wow. Um, did I fail to tell y'all she got married? Without her kids knowing? YEAH. Not even 6 months after her divorce was final. Good riddance, 2007!)

The AWESOME!!!
MAKING A FREAKING MOVIE (I have seen the festival cut - it's off to SXSW and AFI's - and this movie is SO DAMN FUNNY. No, really. Like, it might be one of the funniest movies of all time, and I'm not just saying that, ha ha ha.)
My (soon to be) brother-in-law WRITING A FREAKING MOVIE (that I got to be in, hee! BUT! He's writing another movie and has backing already! He's quite talented.)
My sister and her fiance getting engaged, and me getting to know him even better (final say: he's awesome and worthy of her)
All the time I've got to spend with her and with friends I love (ILULEEMARENJESSANNE <-- for STARTERS.)
Being encouraged by all of you to write a book
writing said book! (It's in heavy editing, but at least there's something to edit!)
winning NaNoWriMo my first time at it
FUDGE <-- as long as there is fudge in the world, we have something to celebrate, people
remembering that I like writing and acting and being funny and being around like-minded people
Wellbutrin *g*
my kids getting older and smarter and more mature (and doing the dishes, hallelujah!)
my sweet husband for supporting me always (and being handsome while doing so, heh)

I love it when the awesome outweighs the crap. I am not a "resolution maker" because I am bad with the follow through. Basically, I vow to make myself MORE AWESOME and HAPPIER THAN EVER THOUGHT POSSIBLE or I will set myself on fire. (Please to be reading the "I suck on follow through." Ha.)

Now to make black eyed peas to solidify that "prosperous New Year..." *g*

You bet! (And... you're in Texas, right? *can't remember most things* The shop is in Plano, but they'll ship anywhere, if I remember correctly. It's absolutely the finest yarn shop I've ever been to, and the yarnery in Switzerland I drooled over was pretty awesome.)

2007 was a great year, it really was, and I think 2008 will be even better!! Sure, there were some difficult moments but what year doesn't have those? The difficult times make the good stuff so much better. <---HI CLICHE. ILU.

Those various yarns are gorgeous! I especially love the colors of Indira Ghandi. Due to time constraints, I haven't been able to start a new scarf yet but I'm going to bring my needle with me so maybe I can start something if we pick up some new yarn.

He only is learning to bake bread. (Mostly, I think he wanted to play with the new Kitchenaid mixer. I cannot blame him...) He likes the "punch down" process, but finds the "waiting for the bread to double in size" portion very boring. I don't see this as a habit, but it's fun to put an apron on him. *g*

It's snowing?! How pretty! It's all dead and brown and blowy and chilly here, not the picturesque scene you must have there. *joins Frankie Prime at his HDTV window of awesome*

When the awesomeness outweighs the crap then it's definitely time for the awesomeness dance of joy. I'm doing it as I type. 2007: Year of Movies and Books, 2008: Year of Movie and Book Awards. Throw away all the family photos cluttering up the fireplace because you're going to need room.

This year I intend to work on my drinking problem and turn it into a drinking solution. Power of positive thinking, man.

That yarn is beautiful. Knitting seems like it would be loads of relaxing fun, but if I resolve to learn to knit I will never learn to knit. It's a double edged sword.

Isn't it lovely? All of their products are equally fabulous. (Ooooh, there was some Tibetan wool in some wonderful colors at this shop that I wished I could turn into something fabulous.)

Knitting seems great - you have so many more options than with crochet, imo. But yeah - I need to keep it as an oddity that I am curious about so I don't "resolve" to do something then fail at it. :D

Oooh, you are tempting me with such beeeyoootiful YARN!!! I have fallen in love with the Jane Adams colors, mmm hmm. I see that my yarnery also carries that wool. I am doomed, or rather my pocketbook is. Yarn is so seductive! But I am very frustrated with my current project. I reached a very confusing impasse and during the holidays had no time to run over to the yarnery for advice. I hope to get there this week. I can't wait till you come here for a visit and we can sit down to work on teaching you how to knit!

One of the very best things about my life in 2007, and the previous couple years before that, was YOU. I'm so happy that you had some wonderful happenings in your life last year! I'm very thrilled about your movie *and* your book (and going to get back to reading the chapters now that the holidays are over).

I also suck at the resolution making/follow-through, so none of that for me too. I had no black-eyed peas today because instead we had Korean New Year's dishes this evening, courtesy of my BFF Deb. Very yummy! Dumpling soup with rice, in particular, which she tells me brings good luck. May we all have that in 2008!
