I'm wearing my protected-brains gear so I can't be killed by the ever-vigilant zombie killers out there, so HAR de HAR HAR. Seriously, zombie ficathon y/y? Does this need to happen? Any fandom, or original fic, the only requirement: ZOMBIES.

1. There is no FLDS/LDS discussion in this post, for any newcomers that might be clicking. (and wow - I have no idea how some of you are finding me! I mean, come on over, I don't mind, just where are you finding me? Curious.)
2. I had the day from Mom Hell yesterday with non-stop doctor visits (that led to two new dr. visits, a pre-registration at the hospital [#2 needs surgery on her arm, evidently] getting 20 pounds of rice for the 1rst grade class, buying elastic-waist pants for #2 (one arm = no buttons) and for the love of Pete and Shannon, can SOMEONE make pants for pre-teens that aren't slutty? Did I mention everything was on opposite sides of town from each other? Bah.
3. I made Beef Rendang last night, but with venison and it was delicious. (I didn't have the dried shrimp, however.) We may have that again in a few days, it was so taste-tastic. (Curried onions and carrots on the side, with barley for our starch)
4. [livejournal.com profile] germaine_pet is coming tomorrow and I am SO EXCITED to have grown-up time. GAAH.
5. If the wind could stop gusting up to 45 MPH that would be suuuuuper. I CAN NOT STAND the wind. I have half-finished flower beds calling me! *reaches passionately towards the windows*
6. I have so much to do today. I want to be a baby and stomp and make fists but I have to be all grown up and handle up on some bidness. GOD. DAMMIT.
7. this video was sent to me by [livejournal.com profile] bu_doodlebug this morning and it cracked me up BECAUSE IT IS TRUE. I mean, don't get me wrong. It's twee. But still... I laughed.

Doesn't that need to happen?! Hopefully next week when things slow down I can organize something like that. (Even if it's just you and me, that's two fics about zombies added to the world. \o/)

I found you via my friends of friends list.

Tell me about the clothes. Either they are covered in the latest licensed character or trying to be like the adults. Oy. If I want something plain like a plain t-shirt I have to go into the boys section. Sheesh.

Hello! (I should have made myself clear - I meant the random clicks coming from all over. I log IPs/hits for non-LJs and I'm curious as to how they're stumbling across my LJ, that's all. And ftr: any and everyone is welcome to read/comment/etc. I don't mind, just curious, is all.)

And EXACTLY re: clothes. Fortunately, Old Navy had some basic tees, but all the shorts have a one inch inseam! 1) that's against our school's dress code and 2) that's against my sensibilities. :D

The junior section @ W-M is filled with those tiny shorts!

One inch! Those are underwear! Even when I was younger (about ten years ago) I wouldn't wear those.

I like the George line @ W-M. The clothes aren't too slutty and they're cute to boot.

Self-pimping, and I have no idea if you even remotely know Spooks/Mi-5 fandom (short version: British spies), but I wrote a big long massive Spooks zombie au last year, if you're interested:

Ah, cool, I thought you did but have a crappy memory so couldn't be sure it was you!

Hope you enjoy :)

I have been working on some related bits and pieces (i.e. characters I didn't feature in the main fic) and a 28 Days Later crossover (so not *quite* zombies)

Zombie ficathon would be cool. Even if I don't participate (I have about 40-50 WIPs at the moment, because I'm insane), I'll pimp it for you :)

I don't usually do fic, but for you ehneeteeng! I'll join in on the zombie madness. Can it be sans-fandom? And if it can't, can it be fandom-of-my-choice?

I warn you, though--I may be late, as my wedding date fast approaches, and then by mid-June I am the relocating to AUSTRALIA ZOMG.

And another OMG--surgery? I am sending vibes of goodness and healing y'all's way!

And one last OMG for Venion Rendang. [wipes drool off keyboard]

At work, going nuts, must GO--good luck with your to-do-ingess!

Oh my god, you should write Shaun of the Dead fic!! (It'll be multi-fandom or Original Fiction, either, or.)

Mid-June?!? Holy crap, that's so exciting and RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER. Oh my goodness, I'm sending you loads of energy and positive mental attitude YOUR WAY. *OM*

They actually have very nice non-slut-wear at J.C. Penny, but that place is so damn expensive. I got Monstrous some nice on-sale walking shorts in blue plaid and a couple of cute polo-style shirts. If i could afford them all the time, that'd be where we'd shop all the time.

I am picturing you in your head gear eating leftovers. The redang does sound delicious. Did you boil the venison for an hour like the beef? That seems like a lot of dried shrimp...

Elastic waist pants can be slutty?

The wind is awful. I want to go on my walk, but there's so much dust and grit in the air I keep putting it off *shakes fist at the skies*

Are you working on a zombie fic, too?

Date: 2008-04-17 08:28 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] stoney321.livejournal.com
HAHAHAHA! Oh, and the rendang was SO. GOOD. Even my son, who is weird with meat (he hates steak. STEAK!) loved it. I did boil the venison, but only for 40 minutes. It actually needed a bit more, but probably not an hour, given how lean it is.

More that clothes in general for her age are slutty, which pisses me off. But even some of the elastic waist knit shorts (like, for kicking around in, exercising, that sort of thing) had teeny tiny inseams. I'd like my daughter's body covered within reason, thank you. Jeeez.

I will be - esp. if I can get this ficathon up and running!

Poor yous, stuck in Mom Hell! Poor #2! I hope her arm is aces again soon and that your day includes less running around than yesterday.

Man, what is with the hoochie waistline on pants right now? My poor little'un is tall for her age, so I'm having to buy things that are clearly made for older girls who are also, possibly, sex industry professionals. I swear, the last time we tried on jeans, she had two inches of underwear showing above the waist. I'm just going to have to suck it up and go somewhere sensible. Like Sears! *rant over*

Date: 2008-04-17 08:26 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] stoney321.livejournal.com
See, my #2 is tall for her age, as well (5' 2" and she's 10) so we have to find looooooong and slim. Um... Yeah, that's easy. Old Navy has a good slim line (anything with those stretchy bands inside is a WIN) and the Gap usually has stuff that's not whore-wear. But I'm not buying a messy, sloppy, hole-in her clothes-making child a complete wardrobe from The Gap or J. Crew. I mean, please.

Oooh, Justus/Justice is a good place for that 'tween age, I just always forget about them because they're on the other side of town...

Target has jean shorts for juniors that are long enough to make me happy and short enough to make my daughter happy. Not slung too low either. I think they were about $15 (I think).

I love the wind, but it was so strong up until yesterday, the love was gone. Luckily there was no wind today. Just rain. Urg.

My problem is my #2 has a broken arm, so buttons and zippers are hard for her. I'm just looking for some elastic-waist shorts/skirts that aren't crazy short, which has been hard to find!

(And we're in Texas, it's already in the 80s, soon to be 90s, so sweat pants will be... uncomfortable. *G*)

I did find some capris at Target that worked. I <3 Target!

And stop beating on your kids already. Obviously their bones are more brittle than you realised. It's probably all the deficiencies through surviving on a bowl of rice a day.

You know what? One bowl of rice is fine for the starving people of North Korea, it's good enough for my kids. IT BETTER BE. I have to save all that food money to get a tummy tuck and fake lip implants!

*looks around warily* I snuck in from dark_christian (an anti-dominionist lj comm). Mormonism gives me hope: if holy underwear really exists, then what can I write that's weirder than reality?

Regarding clothes--I don't have kids but some children's clothes are too old for *me* at near thirty insofar as the sluttiness quotient goes. Also, can they make actual summerweight pants for females of any age? Capris are from Cthulu.

Hello! Any and all are welcome here, btw.

And HAHAHAHAHAHA! The best thing about Holy Britches, it will protect you from fire, gunshots, and Whores! (They actually believe that. Um, not the whore portion. *g*)

And seriously about those clothes! I've come to the conclusion that the proliferation of "Cougars" is that older women are forced to wear hootchie-mama club wear because the alternative is Grandma-Cruise wear.

(Oh my god, yes re: capris. Thanks for stumping my legs, Fashion World!)

That video is hilarious. I pasted the youtube link in an Email to send to my mom. Then I thought to copy it to my friends and relations who are parents. Then I realized that, like me, anyone who'd ever been a child would find it funny, and my cc list got really long.

Thanks for sharing this.
