Because we have nothing but hail, high winds, rain, and lightning in the forecast for the whole day, that means I can't finish the new flower bed I've been working on all week. Which means I can't keep procrastinating on writing, like I've been doing. So, to keep me tied to the computer, forcing me to write write write, I thought I'd do that "Ask me anything*" meme. I have a bunch of new folks around here, and it'll be fun to get to know people.

*(Note: I can't promise to answer every question. If it's about personal details like my kids and husband, or where exactly that mole is, come on. I'm not that kind of blogger. And who the hell asks complete strangers about their sex lives? Weirdos, that's who. Don't be that weirdo. Ha ha ha ha.)

So! *claps hands* Who's got a burning desire to know something? Anything (almost)? I can give you an outlandish answer if you so desire...

(Oh, side note related to nothing. I'm beginning to have an unhealthy crush on Shia Labeouf. I watched Disturbia the other night and felt all funny and flustered. Then, his turn at hosting SNL was on this weekend. He is TOTALLY CUTE and I felt 15, which isn't healthy for a 35 year old woman. Uh... The Indiana Jones movie might make me explode because it's a combo of Han freaking Solo/Indy + new meat. Do I even want to watch Transformers to see him? *bites lip* He's a smart ass *rawr* and his dad raised CHICKENS and his mom is a ballerina. It's like as close to carnies as I can get without hating myself! Ahahaha.)

(Um, side note 2. To show I'm completely ridiculous, I watched an amazing documentary on PBS last night instead of AI - bleh - and it was astounding. This is something I could dedicate myself to once the kids are gone. Oh, my poor heart. Those poor women. I love that there are people that create hospitals to help others. <3)

Shia LaBeouf is ADORABLE!!! Have you seen The Greatest Game Ever Played? Golf Movie. I hate golf. I love the movie. Pure sap, family-type movie. But he's ADORABLE! Is it ok if I have a crush on him since I am sooooo much younger than you? (By so much, I mean a year, I just turned 34!)

And fine. If I can't be "that weirdo" than I'll ask something else... *not that I would really want to be "that weirdo" but still...*

Is there a particular type of plant or flower that means more to you than others? Can you pick one favourite?

He is ADORABLE. I want to say that there's something really sexy about him, but that embarrasses me. So I won't say that there's something really sexy about him. :D

Ooooh. You know, I don't think there is one flower that I prize above others. WAIT, THAT'S NOT TRUE. Peonies. I love peonies, and I cannot grow them here in our heat, so there you are. :D

It's okay I'm 35 and I like Shia too, and I have a crush on Ed West. Clearly he has a plan to take over the world one 35 year old woman at a time. I have a crush on Ed Westwick, however so . . .
A question *taps forehead in Pooh-like manner*. What's your guiltiest of guilty fandom pleasures? Do you harbor a secret love for Filch/Hagrid? Do you watch Farmer wants a Wife? Do you have a collection of Star Trek commerative plates? What is it I want to know. *wonders if that qualifies her as a weirdo*

He is really freaking cute, isn't he?

Okay, probably my lamest thing ever, but I was 7, so gimmie a break. (Hahaha.)

I used to pour cereal bowls for Luke and Leia to eat with me when I was a kid. And to me, they were real and right there, eating Cheerios. And when the final movie played, I totally burst into tears when the green "Lucasfilm" logo went up, and I was watery-eyed throughout all of "Revenge of the Sith." I AM A DORK.

He *is* a cute kid. I saw him in some Disney/Nickelodeon thing where he played a kid who was...i dunno, developmentally disabled and really - i fell for him. Heh. So, yay, with Indy!

*dances*

I watched that PBS documentary, too, and is it just me, or was pretty much every single woman on the show just....unbearably, amazingly gorgeous? I mean...the poor girl who refused to go back to her home village, with the tattoos on her jawline and cheeks... God, she was just...utterly stunning.

I sat and cried when they got new clothes, when they were cured, when the slightly older lady went home and was appalled that her husband hadn't cleaned *once* while she was gone, heh. Excellent show.

Wasn't that doc amazing? And yes, I noticed that, too, how naturally beautiful all the women of Ethiopia appeared to be. Wabete! Oh, she was breaking my heart, that poor woman. (Ha, I totally thought you would love her tattoos - they were amazing. Did you see the woman that had them all up her neck to her jaw line? So beautiful.)

Oh, her berating her husband for not cleaning! "What in the name of the Lord is wrong with you?" Hahaha, bless her heart. I mean, she *was* gone for a month! Their utter joy when they realized they were "cured." I had a towel over my mouth for the last half, crying into it.

Heeee, yes! She was just bowled over by the utter squalor of her house, poor thing. And the other woman - damn, my name-fu sucks - who was tearing down her old house, never to live there again because of the shame and humiliation and misery it had held. I was just all 'yes! yes! tear it down!!'

Man. Really, truly, makes you thankful.

Oh my god, just watching them carry those massive jugs of water...

I loved her saying she'd never go back there. And I loved that they recycled the materials from her hut, too. :) I want to knit squares to make them shawls - I loved all the shawls they wore. GAH, I just want to do something to help in a concrete way. (I'm checking out the fistulafoundation.org site. It's wonderful, btw.)

I know! I did, too. That girl who was eighteen and was about four foot tall or something, she looked like a freaking ten year old and she'd had a *baby*, jayzus. WTF are these people thinking? And that poor girl in labor for a fucking *week*, omg. I just hate it when people see this stuff happening over and over and just keep on doing it the exact same. Major cheers for the woman who was 'i'm not going to get my daughter married any time soon'.

Thanks for the link!

yay! questions!

~What's your very favorite (if you have one) icon? One that you, even if you don't use it that often, will never replace?

~What is one thing that should be free that everyone pays for?

~Is there a difference between people who have pet dogs and people who have pet cats? And what about the ones that have both? Or! the ones that have no pets!?!

~You're stuck on a desert island for three months with one book, one CD and one movie (yes, this is a *special* deserted island with electricity, humor me). What are they?

OoooOOooh.

1. I don't know that I have one favorite, but I know that I loooove my BFF icon *points up* and hardly ever use it. I'm not sure why... And the Winking Giraffe icon is one I'll never, ever delete. It's... "me" somehow. :)

2. WATER. Hands down.

3. Oooh. I think people who have cats only like to please people that aren't easily pleased. Meaning, they like independent people, and making them happy is satisfying. People who have dogs are more communal over all, and people who have both are the more balanced emotionally, imo. And I have no patience for people who hate animals/won't have any. :D

4. I have to be a stink and say that I'd burn two movies onto a disc and they'd be "Blazing Saddles" and "Silence of the Lambs." Both movies I'll watch at the drop of a hat and find something new every time.

Mmk, a few semi-good questions (I'll let you be the judge *g*), and a cheesy one :P

* I liked your cute little story about Sally bringing her "kids" in the shower during the storm - any other quirky/funny things she's done that haven't been posted here yet?

* What is your all-time favorite recipe (and, if you have time could you post it?)

* What is one strange habit you have? (ie. need to go out the same door you came in, etc.)

* Cheesy question!! - Do you think if we got to know each other better, that I'd ever be added to your f-list? lol You're hilarious, and I loved your Mother's Day entry!

1. Nope, that's pretty much her only quirk, unless you consider never having a "mess" indoors ever a quirk? (She's very well-behaved.)

2. Hmmm, I'll have to think if there's anything I've not posted. (That shrimp and lime soup I posted last week-ish was pretty damn tasty, and we've had it twice, since.)

3. I have to eat things in twos. Like, even numbers, so both sides of my mouth get equal chewing time. :D

4. Could be! It takes me a bit to feel comfortable enough to open the doors to the flocked posts (there aren't many, though. But they're deeply personal, so the group that seems them tend to be people I've actually met in RL, for the most part.) And thank you for the complement, by the way. *squish*

Oops! Never replied back to you on this. E-mail overload :P

1) Aww, well-behaved dogs are a great thing to have - makes life so much easier.

2) Mmm, shrimp. I may just have to make that for my bf for dinner. He loves anything that has shrimp in it. (Can't say the same for me though - even though I'm in the Bay State right along the coastline, I am not into seafood at all! Talk about quirky!)

3) Hey, I used to do that, but then when there were 3 cookies left in the bag, I said 'the hell with it' and just grabbed em :D

4) I totally understand that. I kinda have this filter thing going on where I have close friends, and regular friends, so that I can still choose a little privacy for some topics. Not sure if we'd get a chance to meet in RL, since you're so far away!! Maybe I should start moving away from the coast - so many of my LJ friends are more inland that I am. And you're entirely welcome! *hugs*

Yes you want to watch Transformers. It is a pretty cool movie and Shia Labeouf is good in it. (I say good considering the genre. It isn't Shakespeare but it it is what it is. A Summer blockbuster action movie based on a crtoon. But still I have seen it more than once.)

I went to the University of Utah and majored in Biology, specifically microbiology, so I can diagram all sorts of single-celled organisms and tell you what bacteria can do. (And that 98% of all bacteria are GOOD for you, so stop using anti-bacterial soap, unless you've handled raw chicken!)

I'll not say anything about Shia since I have my own thing for Topher Grace. Topher is about 25 kinds of wrong for me, yet I think he's freaking adorable (not to mention a pretty decent actor).

Hmmm...questions...I'm horrible at these kinds of things, but who wants to let such an opportunity pass by?

All right, here's something: do you think the statement in Pulp Fiction is correct that a person can be either a Beatles person or a Rolling Stones person, but not both? If so, which are you?

And: when you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

Oooh, I forgot about Topher Grace. Lanky, smart, smart alecky? YES.

(I thought it was you couldn't be equally a fan of the Beatles and Elvis? Is it the Stones? I'll go on that one.)

No, I don't think you can - they're totally different kinds of music, so I think to be a massive lover of one, you can't be of the other. Hmm. (I'm a Beatles girl, myself.)

Oh, that's easy: actress, starting with Saturday Night Live. Always always always.

Ok, so, fanfiction. (Since that's all I care about anyway - in life, not just in this meme). What was your first fandom/when did you first start reading it?

Question 2: Shia Labeouf? really? he's always struck me as kind of funny looking, definitely not one to inspire the hots. *cowers from furious fans*

The first fandom for me (without knowing of things like fandom) was Star Wars when I was little. I'd act out and create elaborate stories beyond the movies.

First public participation was for Buffy the Vampire Slayer, still the fandom I call home. :)

And yeah - I know there's something awkward in his shoulder-neck ratio, but he carries himself in a way that is very attractive.

The hubby and I will be first in line I think.

So questions...hmmm...

1) If you could travel anywhere in the world, no expense spared, where would you go and why?

2) Who is your biggest celebrity girl crush?

3) Favorite book/books of all time?

4) What do you enjoy doing most on a lovely Saturday afternoon?

I can't watch Holes because then I WILL feel dirty. :D

1) Oooh, that's hard, because there's not really anywhere on earth I WOULDN'T go. Probably a month-long tour of Asia. Wait, make that two months so I could hit Bangladesh and India.

2) Toss up between Kate WInslet (she's just so... neat.) and Charisma Carpenter so I could sit in her lap and snuggle her... curves.

3) Er... Whoa. I'd have to default to the Anne of Green Gables series, because of how important to my youth/development they were. That's a tough one.

4) this, however, is incredibly easy. Hanging with my family and futzing in my garden. :)
