Things of Goodness
Jun. 24th, 2008 09:23 am- Pulling my head out of my nethers, admitting mistakes, and reconnecting with an old friend
- getting back to a 10 minute mile (walking)
- cutting back from 7 miles a day to 5 because its hot and feeling okay with that
- Fruit Loops
- going to the DMA and the Nasher Sculpture Center with the kids and knowing they are going to love a day of museums \o/
- putting on last year's bathing suit bottoms and them literally falling off to puddle at my ankles on the floor
- being in my own bathroom with the door shut when that happened
- having only three more pounds left to lose in order to reach my 30 pound goal
- finally getting my 3-Day page up and my partner online!
Speaking of, I'm doing the 3-Day this year. If I don't raise 2200 dollars by November, I've pledged to pay that out of my pocket. Help a sister out! Every dollar raised goes directly to supporting women with breast cancer and their families. There's no 25% put aside to run the event. The participants pay for the event and materials so EVERY DOLLAR WE RAISE goes directly to the people who need it. Pretty cool, huh? You can read about my last experience with the 3-Day here.
Yep. A good day is in store. <3

Date: 2008-06-24 03:10 pm (UTC)I'm smaller now than I have been at any previous point in my life, though I still weigh a bit more [muscle > fat = tru!fax!] My shoulders are fine, though my upper arm/under arm area, and of course my belly, are not where I want them to be.
My legs = awesome, though the extreme upper-inner thigh could always use some toning.

Date: 2008-06-24 03:34 pm (UTC)I'm exactly where you are on the body shaping issues. I'm getting a medicine ball this weekend to help do some sculpting.

Date: 2008-06-24 02:46 pm (UTC)My latest entry has the details if you feel like reading (cuz I'm not on your f-list, but ya know, curiousity...) I'm not "overweight" but I'm kinda on the higher end of things and I'd like to be on the lower end.
I'm working on eating healthier and exercising various ways - walking being the main one. Do you bring Sally with you on walks? Is it better or worse to bring your dog along, do you think?
Anyway, enjoy your feeling of light-footed-ness, and keep being amazing!
I still love your entries <3
P.S. Sorry for the personal ramble in this comment!

Date: 2008-06-24 03:06 pm (UTC)I take Sally because she needs walking, but if the kids take her at another time, I won't bring her along. She's good for about 7 miles a day. Any more than that in one go, and she's worn out. (THen again, 7miles in the morning and a few at night is good with her.) The nice thing about a dog with you is that it gets you going. (We don't stop except for two potty breaks, though.)
Walking is the BEST exercise, especially if you're just getting back into it. YAY YOU!!!

Date: 2008-06-24 03:13 pm (UTC)Ok, well I'm glad I asked. I take my dog - Cody, he's a beagle, with me occasionally, but like Sally, he can't do too much like a human. And when I do bring him, sometimes when I get a bit slackening on the pace, he gets me to keep moving and catch up. I think I'll continue to do both then - sometimes take him, but on longer ones (or on really hot days) leave him behind.
It is! I can't run because I don't have the endurance, but walking I have a lot of endurance for. And once you get going a decent distance, it's just as good of a workout as jogging/running :)
Thanks for the motivation!

*cheers*
Congrats on the wieght loss I know that's hard. I'm down 21 w/30 to go. *pats you on the bsck* Losing weight is hard I don't care what anybody says. 27lbs is a big accomplishment lady.
I remember you're last 3 day and it's awesome that you're doing it again. *hugs*

Date: 2008-06-24 03:35 pm (UTC)And go you on the 21 pounds! That's a huge amount - an amount that really shows. I hope it's motivating you (and giving you confidence and self-esteem!) *HUGS*

Date: 2008-06-24 03:42 pm (UTC)It really has been motivating and I feel so much better. I'm really getting into excercising again and am able to enjoy it. It's good to be approaching my old level of fitness once again. *hugs back*

Date: 2008-06-24 03:16 pm (UTC)I bet having your head out of your nethers has really improved your wind resistance. I personally found the cat-cow stretch made a lot more sense that way. :p
I'm jealous of your bikini shuffle and 30 lb goal! (Also jealous that you could see your toes the entire time.) We've been using a Wii Fit and I can't wait to stand on it in Aug/Sept and have it say, "Is this Sue? Your weight seems to have fluctuated."

Date: 2008-06-24 03:38 pm (UTC)The other bonus about not having my head up my ass is the smell. Now I see what they mean about roses and stopping. It never made sense before...
I've heard about the Wii Fit! (We're an Xbox family, woe.) And come on. You can see your toes if you lay on your back and look at the mirror over your bed. Aw, yeah. (two more months. just two more months.)

Date: 2008-06-24 07:31 pm (UTC)b) Much more important, best wishes for your loooong walk. I know you'll carry many much-loved names with you, and I'm again including my aunt Jolanta (I gave some details in my comment to your walk post from last time). Two years on from that post, and her art student daughter's hair is an interesting shade of scarlet (or was, two months ago). Reminds me so much of how Jolanta would look different each time I saw her, playing fast and loose with dye/make up/fashion, loving her life. I see so much of her in my cousin. I wish they could see one another and recognise that too. So thank you again for doing this. I know you'll have a great time, and do so much good on the way.
