When worlds collide!!!
Oct. 24th, 2008 08:37 amChildhood nursery rhymes being scientifically proven to be true? YES.
Beans, beans, they're good for your heart
The more you eat, the more you fart
The more you fart, the better you feel
So let's have beans for every meal!
AHAHAHAHA. I love it. Every boy across the world just got a huge smile on their face. And every mother just grabbed a tissue to cover their nose.
In other "news," uh, DUH. Sumatra Mandheling, two sugars pls. If that's unavailable, Chai is next followed by Mexican Hot Chocolate. Mmm, cinnamon, coffee and chocolate all together? Yes, please!
This morning as I sent the oldest 2 off to catch the bus at 6:50, I heard the most piteously loud and lamentable howl from our roof, which completely stressed out my son. (get to school get to school GET TO SCHOOL!!) Our resident Siamese ding dong, Hope, had gotten herself stuck on our two story roof and couldn't figure out how to get down. I finally coaxed her to the manageable overhang at our back door, climbed a smallish ladder, and rrrrrrriiiiiippped! her off the roof and into my arms, where she continued to yowl until we got inside. She promptly made her "brrrr!" noise and rubbed along Sally derg, then sat her fat tush down to moinch on her food. *head desk* At least now I know why Sally was whimpering and whining when I got up - her Spidey senses were tingling.
I'm spending the day working on Halloween stuff - I bought some chicken wire yesterday and I'm going to fashion a human shape, wrap it in "spider webs" and affix it to the front of the house, where I have a massive "web" stretched across our entry way. Tomorrow I'll put the giantDr. Suresh tarantulas up. If only our Satan Spider was still there, we could have natural horror. (Please note that I do NOT want Spider O'Doom back. Ever.)
YAY IT'S THE WEEKEND!! I want nummy hot drinks all day. And cuddling under warm blankets. And books! <3

Date: 2008-10-24 01:47 pm (UTC)Beans, beans the magical fruit
The more the eat, the more you toot
The more you toot the happier you are
That makes beans my favorite by far
And yes, I know beans aren't a fruit, but I was a kid *g*

Date: 2008-10-24 01:55 pm (UTC)But the good thing is: it's medically important to toot! Ahahahaha.

Date: 2008-10-24 02:07 pm (UTC)When I was in the ski shop, it was crazy how many "Young Life" groups we had come through from Texas. Crazy. And these Christian kids were horrible. And their parent chaperones? Even worse. The regular families though? Fabulous.
Put on my own t-shirt: Save Mary Jane, Groom Texas. ;-)

Date: 2008-10-24 02:09 pm (UTC)BWAH! (Oh, and it's probably because Winter Park is BEAUTIFUL. Maybe that's a factor? Incidentally, we're Alta skiers. Ski Utah! hahaha.)

Date: 2008-10-24 02:15 pm (UTC)The Young Lifers are so horrible. *shudder* A while back there was some SPN wank because people were raising money in Jensen's name to give to Young Life. He'd been involved with it years ago. A lot of people objected because of their position on homosexuality. I was so happy (even though I wasn't even giving any money to it) when they came up with an alternate charity.
Ah, Crusty Butt. That's one of the places we considered moving to. I'm so glad we didn't. It's so isolated. And colder than the ninth circle of hell. I do want to ski there though. Maybe next winter when I'll actually have days with Chris.

Date: 2008-10-24 02:24 pm (UTC)We're trying to figure out if we'll go skiing this year or not. If not over the holidays, then def. in Feb or early March. The nice thing about skiing over Thanksgiving in utah, all the locals are in school until Wed. so we had the slopes all to ourselves Mon - Wed. SWEET. Alta's pretty isolated as it is, so it was just fantastic to be there with MAYBE 20 other people at the whole resort.

Is that to represent you possibly being eaten by the giant spider? What if you wake up the next day and the human shape is gone, actually eaten by that spider? And the spider has left a little note, saying, "Thanks for the appeteaser! I'll be back! >>..<<

The more you eat, the more you toot,

Now it's time for another meal.
I think the author took poetic license with beans being a fruit. Either that, or the author was extremely dense.
Oh geez, your poor kitty on the roof!
I just love your descriptions, they are so life-like *g* "rrrrrrriiiiiippped! her off the roof..." it's totally what it sounds like. And this is why you are such an amazing writer :)
Also the best at making me laugh: "her Spidey senses were tingling." And other humorous sentences. I love reading your entries, I don't think I've read one that didn't at least put a smile on my face.
OMG the Spider O'Doom!! That was so terrifying and awful and all other negative synonyms. Maybe these fake tarantulas will serve as stand-in scarecrows to all spiders and the like. *crosses fingers*
I'm so cold, I'm under my blankets, curled up with my laptop. Haven't gotten to the hot chocolate, but it's early yet. Books come later too, after reading the flist. Have a wonderful weekend m'dear!

Date: 2008-10-24 02:50 pm (UTC)Aww, you're so sweet! On one of the many, many days that I call myself a hack wannabe writer, I'll read your description and put the knife down. :D
Brrrrr, I have just now put on warm non-jimjams, because I can't face the day in clothes I've slept in. It's possible that I should go ahead and turn on the heater.... You have a lovely weekend, yourself!

Date: 2008-10-24 03:20 pm (UTC)Yay, Halloween stuff is fun! Have fun with the decorating. Oh! How goes the angel costume construction? I'm been curious if you'd started it/if you were still planning on wearing it.
And books!
What have you been reading lately? /nosy

Date: 2008-10-24 03:34 pm (UTC)I'm still working on it - today I'm finishing up the wing structure to I can put the actual wings on. The dress is made, all that's left once the wings are finished is painting it all, making the mask, and working out a makeup plan, because I'm not going the pantyhose route like the inspiration costume. Too much extra work, imo.
BOOKS! I'm finishing up "Look Me In The Eye" and have been reading lots and lots of newspapers. :D Later I'll hit "Slaughter House Five" and some Discworld.

Date: 2008-10-26 06:21 pm (UTC)Mmm, marshmallows and hot chocolate. I approve of this plan! :D
That's so great that you're still working on that costume. You're going to looks so amazing. I'm sure that the local Halloween costume places will have some silver make-up/grease paint so you can complete the look without the pantyhose face/head piece.

Date: 2008-10-24 04:45 pm (UTC)The thing with our Siamese is that she is TERRIFIED of the outside world, save our back patio and a line of shrubs in the fenced-yard. I'm just bamboozled as to why she was up there in the first place.

Date: 2008-10-24 04:15 pm (UTC)On the other hand, I also found out that what I grew up calling Daddy Longlegs are Harvestmen, which is kinda cool to know.
Your planned display, with the spider webs? Would scare the BEJESUS out of me.
I'm now being all twitchily "Wait, before I move back to Utah, there aren't any FREAKY MONSTER-BUGS there, right?!?!" and trying to keep reminding myself that I already lived there and didn't find any so I'm probably ok. *twitch, twitch*
I think I had something else to day, but it got eateded by arachniphobia.

Date: 2008-10-24 05:01 pm (UTC)Something I found a little disappointing about the movie version of Lord of the Rings was that Shelob didn't hit all my HOMGSPIDERAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! buttons as hard as in the books - one thing that didn't translate well is the way that in books, you imagine things like her to be the most terrifying TO YOU version of whatever. And the type Peter Jackson picked just didn't mash my terror buttons as hard as it COULD, and I found it really interesting. There's a set of design sketches they did beforehand to identify what spider people found the freakiest, and several of the rejected ideas freak me out way more than the one they went with. /ramble
It's kind of a big selling point. I mean, there were spiders, but they were NORMAL sized! (I put myself on spider patrol - the boyfriend and I hate them about the same amount, but he'll kill them whereas I just toss them outside.)

Date: 2008-10-24 04:16 pm (UTC)I saw the story about warm drinks in the paper this morning! Sort of big news for me since I'm almost never without a cup of hot tea in my hands. Interesting to think how it affects my outlook on life, ha ha!

Date: 2008-10-24 04:52 pm (UTC)Hahahahaha - CATS!! Sally flinched at the tarantula when I pulled it out. I guess they look pretty good! :D
I have to agree with the hot drink idea - it makes me happy to have that warmth radiating through my hands. It makes everything so snuggly.

Date: 2008-10-24 05:06 pm (UTC)Now my two youngest and I are browsing images of golden silk spiders. I just had to find a pic with a hand for perspective.
I found one. Warning: this is a spider that is clearly much too large (http://davidmichaelkennedy.com/blog/media/heather-banana-spider.jpg)
