CHUCK!

Good hell, I love this show. There were The Last Starfighter references (dude! I loved that as a kid!), there was RUSH as mathematically important to saving the world (yes.) and all sorts of awesome 80s references.

I would have liked them to use ANY OTHER Rush song than Tom Sawyer, because come on. Changes would have been a better use of the math theory (Rush is nothing BUT mathematical references. Why do you think every engineer ever is a huge fan??)

Better choices to heighten the mathematical embed storyline: YYZ, Changes (especially this one!), oh, no, 2112!! That whole song is about the future and space and possible destruction and is over 20 minutes long! Except... Geddy Lee both sings, plays bass, plays synthesizer foot pedals, and a keyboard during Tom Sawyer, so... maybe that is a good song choice. :D Why yes, my nerd is showing.

The Atari office with the geek hierarchy??? AHAHAHAHA! As a former tech that wanted her A++ certification to "retiring" from IT as a data architect, the truth in that was so damn funny.

Also funny was Chuck shaking his head "NO" to Casey's assumption that former 80s gamers would now be married with real jobs and kids. AHAHAHA! And they all raced to the Buy More after getting pages. PAGES!! Bwah ha ha.

I will say that I'm a little dissatisfied at Chuck just getting his diploma. I don't know, he's such an honest guy, I would think he'd want to take those last 12 credits himself. Maybe not. I do like that he has doors opened to him, though.

The 'it's on my Zune' "...you have a Zune?" "No, I'm just kidding, I have an iPod" made me laugh, too. But i really think those geeks WOULD get a Zune (or other obscure mp3 player you'd get at Frys) because they would see the iPod as the AOL of mp3 players. Hahahahaha.

I love everything about this show. I know a bunch of people hate the Nerd Herd, but that's one of my favorite parts. It always parallels the spy storyline, which pleases me to no end. Chuck always learns something from his fellow nerds that helps him to successfully complete a mission, which is terrific. All of those "go nowhere" nerds at the shop unwittingly have CIA skills. :D

No walk today, only more costumes, an audition, and more costumes with Beth. My knees are grateful. :)

The Nerd Herd is the biggest part of why I watch Chuck. Anna is my special favorite and to see the new guy thing she was a prostitute was *awesome*

Me, too! I hear that a lot of people get bored by them, and I LOOOOOVE it.

Hahahaha the "Prostitute?" across her evaluation cracked me up. :D

Rush rules. YYZ, if you don't already know, are the letters for Pearson International Airport for Toronto. If you ever catch a Blue Jays baseball game on tv Geddy sits to the left (viewers left, catchers right) behind homeplate. Hubby got his autograph one day when we were at a game. My Dad used to always have seats in the same section as Geddy's.

Oh, I'm a complete Rush nerd, no worries. (Um, I'm also a drummer groupie. So. Neal Peart = greatest drummer in rock history.)

My husband, a drummer, met and jammed once with Peart. Insane! Geddy Lee is one of the best bassist around, too, if not THE best.

I'm a complete music snob and nerd, trufax. :D

We debate Best Bassist Ever amongst my friends. The rotating top three are Geddy lee, Les Claypool, and Flea...with Flea normally remaining in third and the other two flip-flopping.

Isn't your Dad a musician? I seem to recall...and geez is your family Uber-Talented or what?

He is a musician! So are two of my sisters - very accomplished guitarists and pianists in their own right.

I, uh, got all the math and science, not so much with the musicianship. I'm okay, but nothing compared to those guys!

I remembered right!!!!

And yes, but do Italians love their sleaze? That line will never get old as far as I'm concerned. Besides you write, you cook, you act, you garden...I think you are talented...

I appreciate music, and while I can bang out Christmas Carols on the piano, I am certainly no musician.

Chuck wins at everything! I just wish more people were watching it. I love the Nerd Herd and how they all get together for the greater good. And, OMG I about bust a gut seeing Casey in the Nerd Herd get up. Then I went all shallow and lusted after him. Ahem.

I too think Chuck would be the kind of guy who'd want to earn those 12 credits for himself, but it is kind of a good way to explain all his strange behaviour to Ellie. The writers needed to clean up that little storyline because it wouldn't do for big sis to go snooping around into the spy world.

Oh, Casey... Adam Baldwin is just dreamy. Last week when he had that sexual moan at the sight of the new weapon? Ahahahaha! I love it.

I agree with you on the reasoning why with the diploma. I just... Aww, I would have liked to see Chuck in school, blowing everyone away with his smarts, is all. :) I just love that show. Cute, funny, and clever, too!

Also funny was Chuck shaking his head "NO" to Casey's assumption that former 80s gamers would now be married with real jobs and kids. AHAHAHA!

I laughed out loud at that. It wasn't just that Chuck shook his head, it was the way he shook his head. Just perfect.

I love this show to itty, bitty pieces. More people should be watching this, because despite the preposterous premise, it's really awesome television.

I also wanted to add, I love how Casey hesitated to push the button at the end. Chuck has really had an effect on him; I seriously doubt Casey would have ever hesitated in any other situation. A lot of attention is focused on how Sarah's feelings for Chuck are affecting her judgment, but the changes in Casey are far more subtle and yet no less compelling.

I am loving Casey this season! He's clearly coming around to caring about Chuck, more than just a government asset. It's really lovely and very natural feeling, not forced at all.

It's just really a fun and terrific show!

No joke - I watch for the Nerd Herd. I was ecstatic to see Tony Hale join the team. Arrested Development crossover of WIN. *g*

Tony Hale was on "Samantha Who?" last night, too. It's all Tony all the time! \o/

Getting ready to head out the door for Merck.... NICE.

I <3 Chuck so, so much. It just keeps getting better and better. Although...

I will say that I'm a little dissatisfied at Chuck just getting his diploma. I don't know, he's such an honest guy, I would think he'd want to take those last 12 credits himself. Maybe not. I do like that he has doors opened to him, though.

This, yes. I was a little surprised, but then Sarah explained how what he'd done in the field related to credits and that made it better for some reason. And she had a point. It's not all about the book-learnin'.

And Chuck is clearly intelligent enough to have done it on his own, yeah. I just was hoping he'd go back to school! Him balancing his real job, his spy job and lab? Coulda been awesome!

I was laughing and geeking out through the entire episode! This has become my favorite show.

I, too, was a bit disappointed Stanford would just pony up a diploma, but it does ease Ellie and Captain Awesome's minds. The slapstick of Chuck juggling his family, work and spying lives would look a lot like drug abuse to those two. I could see Chuck following this up by actually earning those last twelve credits legitimately. Just because it's the Chuck thing to do.

Bonus points for "drinking pants." I need me some of those!

From: [identity profile] stoney321.livejournal.com
hahahahah to the drinking pants!! I forgot about those. Man, the glory days of WWF in the early 80s came rushing back!

"Do you think my brother's on drugs?"
"It would explain a lot." HEEE!

Oh, and agreed on him going back to earn those points. He totally would do that!

Also, Chuck's sister is pretty much the perfect replacement for Joyce Summers.

Julia, being grounded in reality is such a handicap in unreal situations

Thanks! It was for a print ad (I think) and I didn't say anything, just stand there and beam.

You know I'm taking pictures to show you, right? :D Loads and loads of the making of...

Thanks! You know, I'm almost positive it was for a print ad as they didn't have me say anything, just "look into the camera and be healthy and smile with your whole face."

Oooookay! *did* :D

Heee, I love that they told you to smile with your whole face. Much better than saying, "smile with your mouth, and shoot disdain from your eyes!" or "Look at us warmly, but reveal your contempt with a twitch of your ears!"

Although, that would have really tested my abilities as an actress!

"Smile from just half of your nose, beam elation from the opposite eye, but let your cheekbones tell the world that you will take no guff from it!"

...now I sound like Karl Lagerfield.

Ew-Ew (the Horshack sound), "The Last Starfighter", I'd watch that right now if it was on. Great movie.

I hope you killed at the audition. 8 ]

Thanks, I hope I did, too! :D
