Serious Case of the Shakes, Y'all.
Nov. 30th, 2008 02:04 pmFor two weeks now I have searched every single document on my computer for the final chapter of my book. It wasn't on any of them. Not one. And I don't know if y'all are like me, but when I've written something, and it's been a few days, there's no way I'll be able to write it the same again. I've been in knots, just sick about it. I've not written a single thing since then, which means I fail at NaNo this year, which, whatever.
I ran an errand with my son today (we had a date, aww. He's a cheap date, too. We went to Taco Bell for lunch.) and opened up the console between the two front seats to hide a gift we bought for his sisters and found one of my journals. WHERE THE MISSING CHAPTER WAS, HANDWRITTEN. *FIST PUMP OF HOORAY-NESS!*
OH. MY. GOD. I am so relieved, I can't even start.
I just bought a massive dry erase board and I'm going to whip this puppy into shape and be organized. (I took a book out of
entrenous88's book - that was a suggestion she gave me months ago, whoops!)
Off topic, but funny to me: my 11 year old daughter went with her BFF to see "Twilight" yesterday. (I know. Fortunately, well... just keep reading. They had free tickets, btw.) She texted me as they were leaving the audience:
#2: "Worst movie ever. 'i cant control myself around u.' weirdo!"
Me: "I TOLD YOU SO. It sucks, right?"
#2: "Seriously. 'i like 2 watch u sleep, its fascinating.' GROSS."
(Make sure you read that with the appropriate pre-teen eye roll/weight of the world sigh in your voice for full effect.) That kid is going to turn out alright. :D

AND YOU, TOO, COOKIE PANTS.

Date: 2008-11-30 10:18 pm (UTC)haha, I was very happy to hear my daughter and her friend mocking the movie, and they went so far as to question the sanity of the other girls there that were drooling over the whole concept. WHEW.

O/T -- Gardening question
Date: 2008-11-30 09:16 pm (UTC)Re: O/T -- Gardening question
Date: 2008-11-30 10:14 pm (UTC)gently knock off the existing soil, wash off the roots (GENTLY) and then re-pot in clean soil. If you can do this outside, the better, that way the thrips won't take off and land on another plant inside (or in the bag of new soil.)
To insure that they stay healthy, put a couple of pencils or chopsticks in the pot (assuming your plant is this small) and cover with a clear zip-lock bag, or summat. Sun will still get in, the bag will keep humidity in, and the bugs won't have access.

Date: 2008-12-02 04:51 am (UTC)I didn't see many adults. Mostly just the eggs in leaves, which all those leaves are now removed. So I'm hoping they'll go away. Currently, I don't have any other houseplants at home. So I'm just focusing on getting my basil bug-free and happy.

Yes, fun times.
And speaking of Twilight "da movie of da book": me and Anna are going to watch it together, at a Spanish cinema, in Spanish (a language I have yet to master) for Christmas. I have proclaimed we will be wearing glitter. She proclaimed we will be giving out popsicles with "Dildo de Edward Cullen" stickers.
PS. I know, I know - I need to get a better "You R the man" icon.

Date: 2008-12-01 01:33 am (UTC)We have a white board too and it really does come in handy. Come to think of it, there are several things on there that still haven't been done... hmmm....
I love that text exchange! :D That girl's got a good head on her shoulders, but that's not surprising, since she's your daughter.

Date: 2008-12-01 02:04 am (UTC)(Say, I was thinking of you and the boys today while checking out a website. Are they into building type toys still? I remember you said they've moved past Legos, but what about things like Erector sets and the like?)
Oh my gosh, I kicked butt after organizing everything on my white board. Almost 19000 words written, to be exact! Things just get jumbled in my head, and SEEING it makes all the difference for me.

Date: 2008-12-01 05:53 pm (UTC)The boys are not so much into building anymore, although they have bursts where they'll take apart all their old models and rebuild/remix them.
We are finally going to join the rest of the 21st century and allow Santa to bring a game console this year. A Wii, to be exact. You may be able to hear the screams of excitement all the way at your house...

I'm actually thinking of reading it myself just to have said I did. Sort of like anal sex, I suspect the anticipation is way more fun than the actual event. Hee. xoxoxoxoxoxoxo
