Everything about this bugs the hell out of me. HOW ABOUT INSTEAD OF PAINTING COOL BOOKS ON YOUR WALL YOU, oh I don't know, READ THEM? Also, the author of that post is all about Twilight-love, so you know where I stand on that. And if you don't, welcome to Earth, try the Brie.

I have thinky thoughts about people who have books to prove their intelligence, or hipness, or whatever. Look. I make no apologies for liking Stephen King. I read what I read and yes, I have some "important books" under my belt, but I hate the mentality of "out profounding" others with their literary kewlness. The best thing about your 30s is realizing that you can like the things you like, and without irony. [<-- pay attention hipsters.] And PAINTING BOOKS on your wall instead of having books? Oh my god. In the words of Michael Scott, "I hate everything you choose to be." Lol.

ENOUGH VITRIOL, I would like to pour some sugar on you (oooh, in the name of loooove!) [livejournal.com profile] ethrosdemon got her affection all up in my grill yesterday and it got me to thinking about this space, too. I came here because of Buffy the Vampire Slayer fandom. I'd been a fangirl my whole life without knowing that there were others out there writing stories about things they loved, too. (I used to make cereal for Luke and Leia when I was a kid so we could "hang out" together. SHUT UP, I WAS 8.) And from a TV show about a petite blonde girl with a sarcastic mouth I made some amazing friends. Real life, hug your bones friends. Some friends are still virtual, but there's a comfort and happiness in seeing them around this place, too.

I'm not really "fannish" about much these days - I like talking about shows/other media with you all, but I'm not really doing much else. I can't remember the last time I wrote fanfic. But there's something about this space that just makes me happy. I love being a spazz here, I love it when people come play with me and are silly. I love pic spams of cats doing weird things, I love it when you are kind and thoughtful, when you share your stories with me (as long as it's not TMI, because it makes me worry about you not having a real person that you can hold and talk with) I love it when you get my humor, I REALLY love it when you don't and comment with worry, but most of all, I just love the interaction.

While I roll my eyes at people thinking I need rehab because I love a glass of wine with dinner (or fourteen mojitos, followed by my own brew made from brake fluid filtered through a loaf of bread - what?) I get that you care. That for whatever reason, these scribblings on my Big Chief Tablet here have forged a relationship of sorts.

But mostly I love yer bewbs. (Even if they're Moobs, fellas. They still are fun to hold, let's not kid ourselves.)

I've been around LJ for 6 years now (oh my god, that long? And I STILL feel like a n00b.) and have made some of the most amazing friends I've ever had in my life. That's crazy! But it's true. You may not know it (some of you are going to laugh your butts off) but I have horrible self-esteem. Horrible. But it's gotten so much better since being around this space - we're such a nurturing, loving, supportive group around here, like an 18 hour bra made of kittens. :D (I'll trademark that later today.) For whatever roll of the dice the Fates gave me for a life, I've never had this kind of support and encouragement in my life before, and for that alone, I thank you.

So. I love you guys. Have a wonderful weekend.

(Psst! [livejournal.com profile] entrenous88! THANK YOU for my cute decoration of a puppy. I <3 heem and YOU. And let me know whenever a purple box gets to you. It took me forever to send off, I'm sorry!)

The painted books, oh my. It's a lot like the rich folks who have decorative libraries, I guess, where all the book spines match. I was looking through a Crate & Barrel catalog yesterday and their pictures of bookshelves all have books that are clearly chosen for the color of their jackets. Lovely shades of blue go on this shelf, assorted yellows on *that* shelf... I'm sure there are people who do this kind of book collecting in real life. *rolls eyes*

Having perused your home library, I can go on record and say this with authority: You have many leather-bound books and your house smells of rich mahogany. I love that I can read a biography of Joseph Smith, a collection of The Onion articles or something about gardening, string theory or the Milagro bean field war. You never know what you're gonna get. I love that. (Or I could re-read the one where Robin won homecoming queen and she got to drive around the football field in Bruce Patman's car and Jessica had to stand on the sidelines with the other cheerleaders and just die inside!)

I love that Buffy and LJ brought me a friend who gets SVH jokes, knows how to make a smokin' aioli sauce, can tell me how to get rid of bag worms and always gets my sarcasm, goddamnit. <3

You know, Sue, I just wish you weren't such a dirty pirate hooker, I just wish that.

But secretly I don't because a) pirates are hot and 2) who doesn't like hookers? They always have spare fishnets. Also, YOU ARE AWESOME, you make delicious food and babies (both delicious, yes, that grammar of mine stands) and you ALWAYS get my references. That alone is worth its weight in GOLD DOUBLOONS.

I, like a large number of your followers, I imagine, found you because of your epically amazing Twilight reviews -- seriously, I lol every time and cite your arguments for people who think Twilight is "serious lit'reture." I'm mostly one of those random creepers readers who comments once in a while, but I always think about what a cool/amazing/intelligent/gorgeous/hilarious/ambitious/talented/kind person/mom/actress/lady you are and what a big heart you have -- and that someday I can be a super cool super smart mom like that. Wine is awesome, your recipes are awesome, and you are awesome.

Now that I've sounded like a super creeptastic gurl from teh interwebz, I want to say thank you for everything you bring to this wacky world of LJ. =)

I LIKE CREEPERS.

1) your icon is CRACKING ME UP and B) I love seeing your username pop up because I always have to pronounce it and imagine poor Ron's cheap joke pen shorting out and that is loltastic. And iii) you usually comment with funny sarcasm, which is one of mmy favorite of the humors! <3

The painted library seriously made my face twitch- until I saw the Infinite Jest book: ROFLTASTIC. I know of no single person who has been able to get through that book; it would make someone who has scaled Everest give up in tears. It is known as the Infinite Doorstop in my circle of friends. (The author's essays are quite enjoyable though.)

Thanks for the sugar ;) Goes to show how cool you are. I know I never post on LJ anymore, but I continue to pop in for random hilarity and great pics and drool worthy recipes, most of which come from you.. and cake wrecks. You inspire me as a mom and a creative, generous, intelligent person. Keep up the spazz!

Anyway, alcoholics build up a tolerance to alcohol. You are not an alcoholic. HA! ZING! Those jokes are their dusty oldness, I injected it with botox to perk it back up again.

You are one of my favourite people ever. You're talented, funny, smart, but most importantly for a woman, you're good looking, which really when it comes down to it all, is all that matters.

HEY, YOU have a good weekend! I'll paint you on to my wall and raise a glass of my cupboard wine to you.

Seriously, when the world goes up a'flame and there's panic in the streets of London and Birmingham, there is only one person I want to wander the parks with, drinking hooch from a paper bag, mocking the locals and discussing philosophy. But since Stephen Hawking is a cripple, I'll settle for you. You are my FAVORITE travel companion, bar none.

First time post from one of your creepy lurking readers who found you through your Twilight posts.
Thank you for everything you put into your posts. Your Twilight read-through was valiant (I wouldn't brave that much craptastic if you paid me) and a perfect highlight of everything I'd want to make fun of anyways.
Your posts on Mormonism are honestly the first things that have ever made me feel my religious upbringing was privileged and somewhat normal (I was raised as a Jehovah's Witness) and have helped me start exploring other religions - just to learn how they function, I'm done with religion until God himself steps in and tells me otherwise.
I marvel with each new post how you ever find the time to fit all the things you do into your days. You're one amazing lady. ^.^

I really hate that painted on bookshelf, but that is because in my mind, the "ideal bookshelves" are the Beauty & the Beast library. Vaulted ceilings, wheeled ladders! *swoons* It's just so stupid. Unless that is some kind of interactive touchscreen display, where you touch the spine of the book and it is beamed into your hands with Star Trek magic, I don't want to hear it. Ah, I'm just kidding. As if the crew of the Enterprise would bring Twilight with them into space...! The only fake books I want are the ones hiding guns and booze, or the ones from the Bookmaster.

Anyway, you have confirmed what my aunt has been accusing me of for the past several years, which is that my youngest sister and I are both 10 years older than our actual ages in our heads. I am incredibly weirded out by the other 20-year-olds I meet who act like my 13-year-old sister, and will continue to be-- I've had one woman tell me she loved Twilight and Robert Pattinson, who I think is a monsterface, and tell me that she is 100% anti-Jacob in a complete deadpan; and one woman tell me she loved Disney's Princess and the Frog "because it was more relatable" than their other films. But at least I know my 18-year-old sister is right on target for mocking me re: writing fanfiction, enjoying pop music and '80s/'90s cartoons/animated musicals, and laughing at poop jokes.

And we love you, too, Stoney! I swear, even accounting for trolls, LJ is the most safe, n00b-friendly place for fandom I've ever encountered on the IntraWebs. You had me at "Sparkledammerung."
