If you're not following the trial, you're doing your soul some good. I new some of the details coming to light but there were a few I didn't. And remember that Texas is known for "Don't Mess With Texas." He is going to go down, and the world will be better for it.

(And my heart goes out to Texas Ranger Nick Hanna, who had to listen to audio recording and transcribe them for the jurors. God, I read about that tape. Ugh. I can't even. I don't know how anyone listening couldn't burst into tears over it. So upsetting. I hope he gets locked up (again) and this time the key doesn't get found when it's thrown away.

I know that the troopers that were there the day they stormed the castle (so to speak) were incredibly upset by the evidence they found.

Utah OVERTURNED his conviction, so it's up to us, now.

I read that Utah was planning on re-trying him, because the conviction was overturned due to an error with the instructions to the jury, but they're waiting until the Texas trial is over. For my money, I'd rather back the Texan horse; Utah obviously has some ambivalence on the subject. Don't you think the mainstream Mormon men would like polygamy back if they could?

How any thoughtful and caring (and non-brainwashed) person could not be disturbed I don't know. This kind of case would haunt me if I were involved.

(BTW, Kurt hates me this week, but I'm going to my Cafe of Writing Bliss tomorrow, and there's going to be a cage match. Either fic comes out or I don't.)

You know, I'm a big believer in human depravity. You work in the justice system, as I do, you're well aware that human beings can suck all on their own.

And then I hear about people like Jeffs, and I think, "So that's what true evil looks like. There really are minions of Satan roaming around the world." (And then I think, "I hope they fry the bastard," even if it's not going to happen and I'm conflicted on the death penalty.)

I am only 'following' in that i listen to the little blurbs that come by me as i change channels, but the whole thing is so horrifying i'm just happy to let other people get into the nitty-gritty of it.

When i saw that they had an *audio recording* of a rape i was just...gah. What in *fuck*? Why???

I'd love to know the context of the judges remark but cruising around the internet looking for coverage makes me cringe. So i'll live without knowing and am just glad the judge seems to think he's being a jerkoff.

Here in my part of Virginia a local high school football coach was found to be part of an INTERNATIONAL Internet porn ring; the website he was involved in was exclusively porn involving minors and users had to upload content to access the website; the more they uploaded the more they got to see. I literally almost vomitted while watching the noon news broadcast.
