Like the kind where I can tuck my head under your chin. I'm 5'6", so if I need to get you an apple box, I can.

WE ARE BACK, by the way, Hey, Don't Judge Me, I mean. Crazy security breach/server farm issues, all resolved, migration hiccups, all resolved, and I miraculously still have a head of hair.

It would be super keen if y'all clicked on various links on the page to give me an idea of how much we can take. (Also, we got a pretty sweet mention on the FRONT PAGE of METAFILTER, um, right when we crashed. D'oh! But still. Pretty sweet.)

Our pool was NINETY THREE DEGREES yesterday. Doesn't that sound awful? The air was 115, so it still felt good. Kinda. We're contemplating buying a bunch of bags of ice and throwing them in. Feh. This has been the second hottest summer (and driest) in Texas history. That's saying something, y'all.

I'm on pre-'ritas, moving on to ACTUAL 'ritas. I'm a mom, I can write you a note so you can start drinking them at work, too. HERE:

Dear ( your boss's/name ),

(Your name) has a medical condition that requires them to consume massive quantities of margaritas, hourly. Thank you for your understanding, and you have a little something right there. *licks thumb, wipes cheek*

Signed,
A Mom, imbued with Mom Authority.

You're welcome.

Does Mom Authority work for other moms? I'm inclined to believe it does.
Being a mom, I have all the answers. I say it does. Hmmm.

Neat.

Oh, absolutely! Then again, I say your mom authority has you grandfathered in, so. (Grandmothered?)

We're on our way to hottest summer. REAL SOON NOW. I keep looking at WEatherunderground.com and the record reports because I'm a masochist.

IDK, I was here for the summer of '80, and that was something like 63 straight days of 100+. Oh, and our A/C was out for two weeks. And my little sister was something like 1.5 years old. MISERABLE SUMMER, miserable.

I've stopped watching the weather, because I gets a sad. We had a tree die, it's so hot and dry out there.

Being a weather geek, I was looking it up last night. 1980 had 42 days straight. We're now 8 days way. O.O (I betcha it FELT like 63 days though, with your AC out!)

My lawn is ...scrub.

Our neighbor was on vacation for 2 weeks, came home, and started watering his lawn. We kinda looked at him, at it, at him - he rolled up his hose and went it. NOT gonna do anything, dude.

From: [identity profile] stoney321.livejournal.com
LOL! Not to mention that watering your lawn with a hose is about the most wasteful thing you can do. [/Master Gardener rant]

I'm going to yell this as I jump off the roof with a sheet tied around my neck.

And guilty verdict - this is very much of the good!

You supply the apple box and you've got a big chin-tucking hug from me!

mr. muse and I disagree loudly and at length over whethe pool water can be too warm, and I say ice it up, baby! We have hardly used pur pool here this year, because it has either been way too hot or like 70. Ugh. Lovely useless water feature.

Date: 2011-08-04 09:21 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] stoney321.livejournal.com
I shall! I shall supply one! <3

I'd say 95 is too hot. That's the hottest it got last night at 7pm. (It cools down several degrees overnight, but as soon as the sun hits it...)

The Mr. brought home 8 bags of ice. I think we need 20.

Maybe you can fill your swim floats with the ice so it stays with you... for the five minutes before it melts.

I keep telling mr. muse that I've never been interested in being slowly simmered to death (though in some ways it's more like a sous vide), and I don't want to feel like I'm being cooked while swimming.

Ha, that's not a bad idea!

ME, NEITHER. We should have a break in the oppressiveness in a few days. It'll go from 110+ to only 100 - 105. A veritable COLD FRONT. Lol.

I would give you a hug, but my week is so crappy that it would turn into me *taking* a hug and we'd end up all "Give me the hug!" and "No, you give me the hug, dammit!", followed by us either having a big fight over hug selfishness or bursting into tears.

I think we should just skip right to the drinks instead. Cheers!

mumsisdaughter: (Come on. You know you want it!)

You supply a stepladder and you can have a hug (5'2"). Otherwise it'll be like when the daughter (5'9") and I hug and my head rests naturally on her 'cushions'. When did she get so tall that she can't rest on mine!?

Hot water swimming pool kinda defeats the object of having one, yes? You need some sort of internal water wheel to scoop the chillier deep water up to the top or a platoon of otters might do it! See I'm not imbibing but the margarita fumes are getting to me, hmmmm :)

Did you manage to get the purple stains out btw?

Date: 2011-08-04 11:34 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] stoney321.livejournal.com
Haha, that's how it is when I hug my daughter, too. I try and find a step. :D

I did get them out! Enzymatic cleaner and the sweat of children were what it took.

And hey! Take your vacay up here in Vancouver! We're at...er, 25C or thereabouts which I guess would be in the 80s for your Fahrenheit scale? Nice and cool for ya in comparison! I could try to send you some of our clouds but I don't trust the postal service with them.

I would imagine the pool felt a little bit like swimming in pee... ICE, ICE BABY!

Thanks for the note. I printed it out and gave it to my boss who isn't going to be here most of the day and she said, "Go for it."

I think I will. hahaha
