I JUST BOUGHT TICKETS TO BOOK OF MORMON AND HOW TO SUCCEED (with Darren Criss, natch) FOR JANUARY AND I LEGITIMATELY TEARED UP, I HAVE WAITED FOR B.O.M. FOR OVER 10 YEARS.

I might have to bring my old Book of Mormon to have the cast autograph it I JUST MIGHT.

ALSO, EVEN SWEETER: I'm going with [livejournal.com profile] flaming_muse IT JUST GETS BETTER. So Jan 9th, any NYC peeps, wanna grab a drink and have fun? BECAUSE OH HEY I'LL BE IN MANHATTAN.

Amazing time in NYC will be amazing! Just be ready for stucky January weather. (As opposed to this bizarre October weather where it's 80+ outside today.)

Ffffff I really want to see Book of Mormon! I'm going to see H2$ at least!

Sucky January weather will be a delight (because I will get to leave it, ahaha) but I do like visiting the cold. Because I get to turn around and head south.

OMG, I know we're new to each other, but this is HUGE for me to go see BoM. Huge. (Um, I'm from one of the older Mormon/polygamous families. I've waited for this since Trey and Matt mentioned it after Cannibal the Musical. SO HAPPY.)

I'm so glad to hear that you get to see H2$! Beginning? Middle? End of his run? I debated on which would be the better time, and we chose Jan 10, he'll have a week to work out kinks.

I've actually read your reviews of Twilight when you explained Mormonism which was really incredible to read just because I'm not terribly knowledgeable about it. (I foolishly picked up my younger sister's copy of Twilight, attempted to read it because I love YA fiction, thought it was utter crap...and then the Twilight craze happened and I needed to find out how the hell so many people found those books good. I couldn't even finish the first novel and I've read some shitty novels.)

I've seen you around Kita's lj too, so. :D

Dork that I am, I'm going to see the opening and closing nights of the show! I couldn't decide between either date and a big group of us are going both nights so it'll be cool to see it with sane people and I think the energy will be interesting on opening vs. closing. But I work in Manhattan so I'm also like, hell yeah, I can meet up with awesome folks who are coming into town for the musical! I will be in multiple layers and bitching about the cold, but it'll be so awesome and a great way to experience January which usually is such a dire month.

Small world! (I've seen you bumping around for years, too. *dorky fangirling*) Oh my GOD, Twilight. But of course, I am looking forward to the final movie because that means IT IS OVER. America's nightmare is over. Let's hope.

Oh, that's awesome that you get to do that! I'd be interested to hear about any changes in the 2 - I imagine there will be a few minor adjustments made that first week.

F_M and I were saying the same about January. Usually it's so meh, but now there is joy and joyness! I have told myself to chill the hell out several times today and "you are a grown-ass woman, Laura" BUT I CANNOT HELP IT. Broadway! DC! BoM!

Yay mutual dorky fangirling! God, I look forward to Twilight being OVER. They split the last movie into two, right? So it's another year before it's over for real. Boo. When I was doing a much longer commute to my job two years ago, I sat in a train car with what I can only assume was an unofficial book club of people who were obsessed with Twilight and just had to keep on talking about those uh-mazing books and dreamy Edward Cullen. For weeks. (and had that train not been packed and that seat location right where I needed to bolt in order to walk to my office in a timely fashion, I would have sat elsewhere.)

The changes will definitely be interesting to see. That boy runs himself into the ground with his ridiculous schedule and I'll be shocked if he doesn't sneak off some late nights to do unofficial/unannounced gigs while he's in NYC to support his friends.

"They split the last movie into two, right?"

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Oh shit, I forgot about that. It's like a knife to my BRAIN. Nothing makes me more sure I don't want to be friends with someone if they're a grown ass woman fawning over Edward Cullen. Maybe you shouldn't have married the first asshole with a truck that asked you, huh? <-- unnecessarily cruel, but JEEEEEZ.

Oh, that he would do that while I'm in town so I can sit in the back and barely make eye contact! Lol.

Ahhhhhh! Wanna meet up? Which show are you seeing for BOM, the matinee or the night?

And you HAVE to bring your Book of Mormon. The cast will die.

And omg, if you have room in your schedule for another show, come see my show, Sleep No More! (http://theater.nytimes.com/2011/04/14/theater/reviews/sleep-no-more-is-a-macbeth-in-a-hotel-review.html) It's probably the most unique theatrical experience in NYC right now. Tickets aren't on sale yet for then, but they will be eventually.

Date: 2011-10-11 12:54 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] stoney321.livejournal.com
Sounds awesome! I'm going to the night shows for both, Tues is H2$ and Wed is BoM. My plan was to plop myself in a pub on Mon. night and hope people would want to come have a drink. More deets as the day nears.

Oh, that's GREAT to know it wouldn't be queer to do so, I immediately thought of that. And I'll have to bring a gold marker so they can sign the outer cover. (It's my old school leather bound BoM!)

OOOOH, that would be amazing! If there's anyway I can pull it off, I will do my best. THAT is what you come to NYC theater to see.

Date: 2011-10-11 07:21 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] cdvla313.livejournal.com
Well...if you're able to plop yourself in a bar on a different night, Sleep No More has Monday night shows, and I work them! And it's cheaper to go M-W than Th-Sat. I also work only M-Th.

Oh people get actors to sign the most random stuff ever. My friend got the cast of Hair to sign her book on transcendental meditation. lol. I almost want to come to stagedoor and watch them sign your BoM. lol.

Date: 2011-10-11 08:20 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] stoney321.livejournal.com
Oooooh. Maybe I should find people to come to that with me, then, because that REALLY looks amazing. IDK, I would fee weird going by myself. That gives me a few months to wrangle a date. :D

Ha, I can tweet that I'm in line so you know to rush over. LOL.

Date: 2011-10-12 05:15 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] cdvla313.livejournal.com
Well, tbh, it's nice to come to the show with people to compare notes afterward, but imo it's best experienced alone. You have to be willing to split up in the show-- we deliberately try to split groups. Alone, you can make your own choices about what to do, who to follow, where to go, etc, without worrying about what the people with you want to do, worrying about others reactions, or being distracted by them. You can immerse yourself the most when you don't know anyone around you. I've seen the show twice, the first time by myself, the second time with a friend, but I just brought her down to where a bunch of actors were and then we went off on our own paths, and met back up at the end.

So if you can't find someone to see it with, it's really not a bad thing. lol. I probably wouldn't be able to say hi while you're in line, but I can certainly hang out after the show with you at our bar! I think I get free drinks. :D

From: [identity profile] stoney321.livejournal.com
This is REALLY something I want to experience, so I'm glad to know it wouldn't be a detriment to go alone. SO I THINK I KNOW WHAT I'M DOING MONDAY NIGHT.

Very cool! Museums are all closed on Monday, so I don't have to worry about not getting some culture while I'm there. Oh, I'm so excited! Three shows in three days, v v nice! (OOOOh, maybe do a write up about it for HDJM, I'm thinking!)

Date: 2011-10-12 07:13 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] cdvla313.livejournal.com
Yay!!! I'll def let you know when tickets go up for that date. It's only being sold through November now, so you still have some time to see if anyone else would want to go.

Oh, if you don't mind be spoiled a teensy bit, this is a fabulous video (http://www.broadway.com/shows/sleep-no-more/video/153672/beyond-broadway-sleep-no-more/) that was put together. Really, I think it contains all essential information about how the show works. AKA now you'll know there's 5 floors, so you won't get stuck on 1 floor for 3 hours (omg, the amount of people who do this.)

And if you write it up, the SNM twitter account will totally tweet about it b/c it loves stuff like that. lol

I'll PM you when we get in to January to see if we could even just meet up for a quick drink or a hello (so I could word-vomit all over you in person, instead of just on the internet!)
