Well, my sinus infection has screwed up my sense of time, because I thought today was the 18th, not the 19th. (I'm not even going to start on how I still have holiday decorations lying around and hardly any presents bought - I'm pulling the atheist card on that.) I weirdly had a summons to court for child support (um, new folks: I have an ex. He has never paid child support. It's been years. Eh.) I raced to the court, and laughed when I got there, because RIGHT! Gov't offices. That meant at least an hour wait.

And let me tell you, there is no place on earth more depressing than a child support field office. (Thank DNA/Big Bang/God of your choice that I am financially secure.) So awful. And I feel like a jackass in clothes that are nice with a nice purse and my iPhone and...well. Some dad swanned in ready to be every lady's BFF and chatted them all up and admired their crying babies and had a portable filing cabinet on the birth mother/his significant other maybe? (reading between the lines?) and I wanted to tell him that those offices are just like the elevator: be quiet and watch the numbers.

(Oh, and it was a hilarious episode of Keystone Cops because they didn't have all of the papers, and they don't have jurisdiction, nor do they have his confirmed address and HAHAHA, it's been years, why would I think they would have this down? At least I don't need the money. My kids deserve the money, but we don't need it.)

ION, I am continually blown away by the amazing response I'm getting for this story I'm posting. I mean... a few weeks ago I was ready to delete the whole thing, just sure it was crap. (Thank you, [livejournal.com profile] flaming_muse again for talking me out of it, and beating my story up until it became something better.) I just...I've been writing fanfic for YEARS and never had this kind of reaction. HAPPY CHRISMUHKWANZUKAH TO ME!

IOON, I am sick of chicken noodle soup, but I have no energy to go to the end of the block for Tom Kha. [/my life is the hardest] [/suck it, legless orphans that are also blind]

I WOULD LIKE TO BE ENTERTAINED. And fed fudge. And biscuits. How about it, Science?

I feel your pain. I went thru the child support system until my son was 18. His father was an alcoholic wife beater who we left when my son was 18 months old. I won every hearing but never got any money. When my son was young I really needed it. I had a minimum wage job. I put myself thru nursing school working 2 jobs and raising a kid and will never be dependent on someone else again. In fact my husband now is disabled and totally dependent on my. Going thru the court system sucks. I am glad that's behind me and I pulled myself up by my own bootstraps, but boy, it totally sucked for several years. And we are celebrating a new holiday this year...Crissmas and Chrismas (for Darren and Chris) Or KLAINEmas if you prefer. Cheers to you and hope your sinuses are better soon!

I'd given up on ever getting any money from him - his family is wealthy and hides him, so... And I have nothing but admiration for you doing it on your own. It SUCKS being a working mom by yourself with little ones, but damn, does it feel good to look back on that hard work and know YOU did it on your own.

And THANK YOU - hot tea is totally my BFF today.

You are hilarious.

So glad you're enjoying such a positive response.
Now you have me wanting to go read your other fics.

Signed, another mom with a deadbeat-ish ex.

I TRY.

LOL. I'm blown away by the response, I hit the fandom sweet spot with this one. (The key, I'm finding: don't write tragedy, abuse, moderately popular characters, and make it epic. It's that easy! Hahahaha.)

Oy, they're not all assholes, but when they do it right.. *kisses fingers* They really do it right.

There is another place that's even more depressing, I know b/c I've been there - the food stamp/welfare office. I hated going in there, pride tastes like shit going down, btw. I swore to myself that when I had kids, I'd take care of them, have a good father, etc. Life has a way of kicking you in the teeth with your own umbrage. My deadbeat ex decided that he didn't want to pay, we duked it out for seven years until they finally said it's pay or jail. Guess which one he chose. Now, he's enrolled at Drexel Univ in Philly to be an IT/Network specialist. Guess who's going back to court the minute he gets his diploma and a job? Karma may be a bitch, but she's an equal opportunity bitch and his time is coming soon.

I'm not a Glee fan but my kids are, so I'll bookmark your fic for when the oldest is able to understand that love between two people of the same sex isn't the ick her grandmother has been telling her it is.

(I was there, too, back in the beginning of my divorce. Another story for another day, but YES. Humble mofo pie, that is.)

Karma may be a bitch, but she has fabulous hair and nails. :D

(Just know that this story is NC-17 in places. So. Rec accordingly.) And yay you for teaching your kids that love is love. :)

I am sorry to hear you aren't feeling well. *hugs*

But I very nearly came to tears at the thought that you might have deleted this fantastic story you have so wonderfully crafted for me. Yes, for me. All other losers step back, cause this is MY holiday gift!!!

And since we're distorting time already, can it please be tomorrow morning? No work tomorrow AND more Klaine loveliness. It will be the best day!!!

<-- still cannot get over that face. CANNOT.

It's a stupid sinus infection - it's only troublesome at night and first thing in the morning. YAY NASAL SPRAY + DAYQUIL.

HAHAHA, yes, sure, it was ALL FOR YOU (so I can totes take these diamond cuff links back to Tiffany's now, sweet!)

I fully support that plan as that means I get to step out with my sister tomorrow and have lunch-time shenanigans. <3

Tiffany's, you say? How about if the Tiffany's cuff links say Klaine on them, then I can give [livejournal.com profile] flaming_muse her fic back?

*tosses fudge to you from all the way in Alabama*

2) Speaking of #1, send some of the children to get you Tom Kha! They have too much energy as it is! :)

1) this is true, but I have that ugly part of my soul that thinks you are just not wanting to crush my spirit. LOL.

2) it is pouring down rain, BOO. (I'm making them set up the tree, remember? Ha. I have other soups, I will make it. /martyr)

3) SAME TO YOU, BUT MORE OF IT.

That sucks that you have to deal with that; it's not fair in the slightest that douches can get away with that crap :(

I hope you feel better tho :) If I was closer I'd totally bring you fudge (because seriously, FUDGE, nom) <3

Eh, it's been ongoing for years. At least I'm lucky to not NEED the money. BOO, DEADBEATS. BOO.

I would TOTALLY LET YOU BRING ME FUDGE. And I would build a fire and put cats on our feet and we could watch D Criss videos and have a fudge-slumber party. \o/# <-- that's me holding your gift bag of fudge.

IOON, I am sick of chicken noodle soup, but I have no energy to go to the end of the block for Tom Kha.

I laughed so hard at this. I was fighting some kind of bug that took my voice away (and I need it in my job; I make recordings), and when I got tired of making chicken soup, I hit the Thai places for Tom Kha. IT IS DA BOMB. Wish I knew how to make it.

TOM KHA is my FAVORITE. I have a recipe around here somewhere, but it takes forever and fifty million ingredients (okay, 20, but when you're sick it feels like 50 mil.) but they're just down the road. I'm about to drag myself by my fingers, Viet-Cong style.

Ok seriously? My soul is crying at the notion that you may have deleted this story. CRYING. Do you know how hard it is for a soul to cry actual tears?? Please do whatever Flaming Muse instructs you to do from here on out. thanks...

Love you for writing this story and posting during the craziness of the holiday season and the torture of a sinus infection.
