All of the tweets from people last night saying how "old" Madonna was, how she should give it up, blah blah, hey assholes? How about you show me where you said the same thing about Paul McCartney? Bruce Springsteen? Tom Petty? Because they're all way older than Madonna. Oh, what's that? You didn't say that? You got a little misogyny right here: *points to their crotch before I kick them* I thought she was bad ass. She was live, she was in HEELS and eff you in your dirty bee hole, that's why. :) (MIA ftw, also. LOVE her.)


I have Yaz on in the background and it makes me want to go roller skating every.single.time. Also, Midnight continues to be one of the songs that I will stop whatever I'm doing and sing the whole thing with feeling. LOL. I'm cool. Alison Moyet, I will forever and ever love you.

I am getting a much needed massage today (I had to cancel my last appointment because my masseuse went into labor. UM. I didn't even know she was pregnant. In my own defense, I am too busy being selfish when I'm getting a massage to notice who's doing it (if they're not unbelievably hot, that is. Which has only happened once. Dammit. I keep trying new places, looking for my sexy Dream Massage Therapist....)

I would also like to add to that list Pavarotti who continually smeared some black dye over his head and came out of retirement for far too many years. It really pisses me off how they behaved towards her. You were right, sexism pure and simple.
She is amazing and strong and she can add new costumes and moves to a decades old song and make it more appealing than most shit they parade out nowadays.

And yes yes yes, I thought those older songs sounded amazing reworked as they'd been. Also, she looked great! I can imagine she didn't want to get too crazy with dance moves seeing as that's the biggest audience in the world, etc. etc. But...she was on people's shoulders, did flips, AND SANG THE WHOLE TIME. (And she didn't lip synch but the one song, I think.)

I missed the half-time show, but my husband had essentially the same reaction to the backlash. He thought she was terrific and can't understand why people are being so harsh about it. I think you've hit a nail on the head with the misogyny theory: just more proof that the worst thing a woman can do in our society is be old.

And a little story re: Alison Moyet: a friend and I were on the way to pick up a third friend and we were playing Yaz as loud as possible, discussing how much we loved her. We pick up our friend and the first thing she said while getting into the car was, "I hate Alison Moyet". We were absolutely crushed. How can anyone hate her? That voice! Lovelovelove it.

She's one of my go-tos (Madonna is another) while doing chores around the house. Sure it's not serious or deep - I don't want it to be. I want something that's pure fun every once in awhile, and there's nothing wrong with that.

I saw her show, that I did. It was... sorta good. And mind, I used to be a Madonna fan. Was a bit.. slow though? Like it never really started... somehow? :-P And that has nothing to do with age, I don't think. :-P

I don't watch football, so I didn't see the show but I have seen recent pics and girl looks amazing.
If she was doing dance moves and flips, then I pretty much guarantee she was lip-synching. Especially if she was on key. 8-)
