I woke up this morning to a cat on my neck (wakeupwakeupfeedmewakeup) and to no coffee. NO. COFFEE. I put the Mr. in charge of getting Emily out to school (even though he was headed for the airport shortly) as I threw on a sweatshirt over my pajamas, pulled on socks, wedged a space between my toes and slipped on some flip flops. (I keep a pair by the door for emergency trips outside with garbage, etc.)

What I'm telling you is that I looked classy. Oh, and I had a clip to hold my rat's nest hair back. Purdy. (Jellis?) I get to Starbucks (I was desperate, they're a mile up the road) hand them my coffee mug (travel mug with Walt from Breaking Bad on it) and find the whole crew standing around looking at it and saying how cool it is. Well, yeah. ;) Fortunately I made business cards (the banner on HDJM, basically) and slid one over, telling them they could go there and buy one for themselves. (Psst: you can, too.)

GOOD MORNING. *bird song*

ION, the Hoarders episode last night almost pushed me to the edge, gang. I had to seriously think about whether or not I'd continue to promote the program on HDJM. Here's the recap where I explain why (and have plenty of warnings for sensitive people.) I had to walk away and have a good cry at one point, ngl.

TONIGHT: Glee! Southland! Stuff!

ETA Oh, and we've added SMASH to our line up on HDJM. HOORAY!

OMG. You went in public in your PJs? I might have to defriend you. That is so trashy.

Yay for travel mug appreciation though.

I WAS IN MY CAR. There's a drive through window at the Starbucks. From the shoulders up I looked just fine. :D

But your hair was all ratty! And I'm guessing you hadn't put on your face. What kind of Southern lady are you?

I almost read seeing it was an ep that impacted you that much. And then I saw the animals part, and I am way, way too tenderhearted to read on. *wimps out*

COFFEEEEEE! This is where we bulk-stock up so that won't happen again!

Nope, don't even read it, sweets. I say it with complete and utter love for you and knowing how tender your heart is. <3

I buy coffee a pound at a time so I can keep it the most fresh, and this is what that gets me: morning with NO COFFEE!

I've had to give up on watching Hoarders, since about ep 5 of this season. I just can't take the new editing. It feels really exploitative and unpleasant, and frankly stresses me out.

I hear you. I've been emailing with one of the producers trying to make them see reason. *shrug* I'm not ready to give up, because I feel like I've formed a friendship with some of the people on the show, but it's HARD.

Yeah, I saw. I do enjoy your recaps! It's you and The Soup for guilty pleasures. :-)

I...just can't get through an episode of Hoarders. Jan's story would have made me lose it entirely, and not because of the dying cat.

This, folks, is the price of ignoring mental health. We can be healthy on the outside, sick as fuck on the inside, but as long as we're "productive" it doesn't matter, eh?

Sorry. VERY raw nerve with me. I hope Jan's able to continue on her new positive path. And I hope Dee gets the swift kick to the ass she needs.

Oh, it's INCREDIBLY frustrating at times. If I didn't know 100% that the crews are there for all the right reasons, I couldn't do it. I'm actually having a conversation with Dorothy Breininger right now talking about this, about how hard it is for some viewers but how IMPORTANT it is for people to see the damage done by not having mental health care in this country (or it being a dirty word.)

It's a raw nerve with me, too. That's honestly the reason why I keep pushing this show. I think it's incredibly educational for all types of people.

Always classy, never trashy. I don't actually drink coffee (it gives me panic attacks), but I know my folks used to keep bricks and cans of it in the freezer to stop the oils from going rancid and they could stock up that way. In theory, you should be able to do the same thing for whole beans and then grind them yourself for extra fresh flavurr.

I'm going to have real-person TV soon, with real-person channels and everything, so I'm looking forward to, like, seeing shows before y'all's recaps are up, and then being able to blog at the same time as all the cool kids! (How great were the SFX and the Carol/Daryl scene and the Maggie/Glenn scene in TWD?! SO GREAT. But I still think Lori and Shane and Rick should just have a blended family, even if they aren't down for being poly-- it's the zombie times, don't be such a prude.)

I'm glad to hear that in spite of shock editing Hoarders is actually a positive force, though-- some shows exist just to show off horribleness and kill whatever was inside you stopping you from laughing at children's/animals' pain. (Related note: my grandmother watches Dance Moms. *shudder*)

Oh! I also thought of your blog over the weekend because of that crazy Doomsday Preppers show, have you seen it? The survivalist mad prepping is very fundamentalist-chic, non?

HOW MUCH DO I LOVE YOUR COFFEE MUG STORY?!

And I smile every time I use my HDJM Blurt mug, which is pretty much as often as it is clean. :)

Yay to mug love! THIS FILLS ME WITH PRIDE.

BOO to Hoarders. Is this in any relation to the convo we had over dinner on Saturday? The exploitation factors, I mean?

I love my mug and I love my sister. WIN-WIN.

You know, that is some, but mostly it's other people that I've seen on boards that get ugly about things. I always respect your opinion, because you don't fly off the handle, talk out of your ass, etc. It mostly gave me food for thought, our convo. <3
