I'm sick of this dreary, cold weather. I've been pretending it's warm. So warm I need to put new ice-cubes in my drink because they keep melting. So warm I need to fan myself and sit by the pool and let the sun bake my eyelids. Remember warm?

I made a CD-mix to help me pretend, and I've been super productive and happy for the past 24 hours, so I thought I'd share. Don't you need to rock out a bit at your desk today, or groove and shake your booty while cleaning? Everything has a summery-pool and drink quality IMO. Playlist and songs (in their listening order: it's important!) are under the cut.

A Boy Named Sue - Johnny Cash
Fishing Blues - Taj Mahal
Before you Accuse Me - Eric Clapton, Unplugged
Truckin' - Grateful Dead
Crazy Little Thing Called Love - Queen
Take Your Mama Out - Scissor Sisters
Heavy Metal Drummer - Wilco
Down With Disease - Phish
Can't Take My Eyes Off of You - Lauren Hill
Sugar Water (Remix) - Cibo Matto
For Once in My Life - Stevie Wonder
The Beautiful - PM Dawn
Watching the Detectives - Elvis Costello
Summertime Rolls - Janes Addiction

I think my age is showing...

I your age is showing, mine will cover it. What?

I'm listening to Work Mix #2 (Radiohead, currently) which includes Sugar Water and Crazy Little Thing Called Love, as well as Elvis Costello, Janes Addiction, Wilco, and Johnny Cash...

I'm cold and sorting files. Bleh.

I know!! I love that part, too.

I hope you are listening to music that makes you feel like you are sitting on a dock with your toes dipping in the water, and the sun baking your skin... Just don't go outside!! Hee!

you are not the boss of me.

Except when you are.

I downloaded, made a playlist in iTunes, and burned a CD. I will think of the pool while I play this, which is much needed as we are expected to receive 5-10" tomorrow. Probably no school, and none of the errands I planned will get done. Instead I will shovel the walk, and rake the roof. Such fun.

I love that the list starts with Johnny Cash, and ends with Janes Addiction. And so far (I've played about halfway through) the progression sounds so completely natural.

I've gotten a present today! Thank you so much! I really needed it. Ron's been gone 8 days so far, and I'm draggin' my tailfeathers. He'll be gone 2 more days. I really don't know how you do this week after week.

Uh, you have bean dip and chips on hand, and lots of things to read or watch. And cats that don't mind being squeezed in the night... Ha!!

Don't you love the story of Boy Named Sue? That song represents a part of my childhood when my parents were singers in a country band. Songs like "Lucile" and "Coat of Many Colors" are some of my faves from my childhood. My son LOVES that Cash song.

I imagined I had sandy toes and hot skin while listening earlier... My kids also love the Taj Mahal song. That makes me think of fish fries out at the lake and swimming suit butt. Hee!
