Just learned for fellow USers that if you go to google, type in a phone number <(xxx)xxx xxxx format> it will pull up the person's listing if they have an exact match. And? A MAP. So all of you numskulls listing your phone number on your LJ should keep that in mind.

SAFETY, folks. Also, there is a feature where you can request your name and number to be removed, but it takes 48 hours to occur. YIKES. Lot of weirdoes out there... Never let it be said that Stoney ain't looking out for ya.

Do you mean there's a way to get it off Google? I would like to, but haven't found out how yet. My address isn't even in the printed phone book, but it's right there on the web. GRRRR.

Sorry, should have looked longer. Just for the good of the collective -- if your number comes up, click on the Phonebook link right above -- this will take you to a removal form.

Uhm, what's up with that. At least they didn't have my complete address, dammit! Now why hasn't anyone started freaking mass email about this instead the usual urban legend crap that I usually get?

I know, right? I don't want to hear how I can make my dik biggr343 or hear about the gang-initiation headlight flash.

They didn't have my complete phone number, but my folks were there. YIKES.

I have never been more glad that my ph# is unlisted.

Dude: the person who alerted me to it was unlisted.

CHECK. Just... be sure, you know? Oh, and emailed Sue about convo thru email the other day and got the same WTF? There's a reason we are Triumvirate.

Okay, that's weird. The first time I did both land lines in my house and there were no results. The second time my mom's line (which is mine as well and unlisted) comes up, but not my dad's line doesn't and it is a listed number. WTFF?

*off to request removal*

There's a reason we are Triumvirate.

Or is it that there is no reason, it just is? What?

I got a really strange result. It had my hubby's name on it, which it should since I didn't list my name on it. Then it had the wrong city and zip code. That's all. Granted, it's the city right next to us, but we never even lived in that zip code. So should I even worry about it? Probably not, but it's weird that you can do that at all.

I KNOW. Not happy with the stalker capacity. Not saying I would have one (because I didn't come up, BTW - hubby's good about burning our paper trails. Ha!) But sheesh. Lots of kiddoes on various flists I see post their numbers on LJ.

Not. Smart.

I'd request a no-show just to be ahead of the game, you know?

Yeah, you're right. I'd never post my phone number on anything. I get skittish if I have to put it on an order I'm doing over the Internet.

The stalker thing is what worries me. Or other ways to take your phone number and do who knows what with it. Geez. We can't even give out a phone number any more.

Wow...just wow. I don't think I entered mine in the first place, but...wow. After my stalky prank caller I wouldn't want someone calling me...
