DUUUUDE. The Walking Dead. Good lord, that show is GRIM. It makes Oz look like an After School Special at times. Wow, I am going to need people to come over and talk to me about this episode because GOD.DAMN.

Also up at HDJM: Dexter, Supernatural, and Teen Wolf later today. (I have fallen into a Sterek-sized hole, it seems. I'm just into S2 now. Guilty pleasure tv!) Tonight is the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, which I adore, and look. I need distractions, okay? I need to keep busy, and this is a great way to do so.

I hope everyone had a good weekend. It is FREEZING here (literally, it was 28F this morning when I finally got up) and should barely get into the upper 50s with sunny skies. It's about damn time fall decided to show up! Bread-baking weather, for sure. Or a cake. MMM, CAKE.

Cake: Y/Y? Or other delicious item that you will present me with in comments with accompanying recipe. :)

(And thank you thank you THANK YOU for all of the love and support. Boy, did I need it on Friday. <3 right back to you.)

Bread to go with stew or chili or minestrone. I love it when it finally gets cold enough to bake again!

Peanut Butter Fudge (http://allrecipes.com/recipe/creamy-peanut-butter-fudge/detail.aspx)

I used all white sugar instead of brown. The instructions are a little vague. So, when you get to step two:

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine sugar, brown sugar, butter and evaporated milk. (That works just fine)

Bring to a boil, stirring constantly, and boil for 7 minutes. (You do NOT have to stir constantly. Stir enough that it doesn't scorch on the bottom, but constantly is a bit much, and it takes longer if you do it constantly. Ignore the part about boiling for 7 minutes. Boil until it reaches soft ball stage, which is 235-240 degrees.)

Remove from heat; stir in marshmallow creme until well incorporated and melted. Stir in peanut butter and vanilla until smooth; spread in prepared pan. Let cool before cutting into squares. (Also, no problems here.)

I was JUST about to email you some love! All it would have been would have been *love* though, with maybe a side of hugs.

And I KNOW! It was 27 this morning! So cold, it's still cold and I can't believe it was 80 on Thursday, my body is going through whiplash.

But oh man, you should DEFINITELY bake bread, maybe with sunflower seeds in it. That would be scrumptious.

I will take any form of love and hugs as they come, and would you look at that? The ones in this comment fit PERFECTLY. <3

My cats are freaking out with the cold. They want under the blankets, they want to pounce ON the blankets. They want to rub against the cold glass, they want to make a fur pile. JUST LET ME SLEEP, KITTIES.

It's funny you mention seeds, because I was eyeing my old Pumperknickle recipe.... (Sunflower seed bread is my all-time fave, though.)

I didn't leave you love and hugs on Friday because I've been busy trying to soak up as much as possible that are being sent my way so as to keep my head somewhat still attached to my being, so please accept some very precious spare love and hugs from a broken lurker. You are an amazing mama, and I think about your sweet boy every night. I only wish love were strong enough to chase away the pain and demons in our heads. :(

I will now go make cake because apparently I am now out of the starve-until-you-die portion of trauma/grief and into the eat-all-the-food-until-numb portion.

No wonder it was so cold this morning! I keep forgetting Texas actually has a winter season sandwiched between baking hot summers.

I hope you and your family are doing better this week. I have a recipe for hot chocolate for all of you. I tried to adjust it so that it can serve your whole family at once, but feel free to tweak as needed.

(Serves about 5, each serving is about 1/2 cup with 1 oz of chocolate per 1/2 cup milk)

2 1/2 c lowfat milk
5-6 oz unsweetened baking chocolate, finely chopped
Honey to taste
1 1/2 tsp cornstarch mixed with an equal amount of milk ("slurry")
(You can replace the baking chocolate+honey with 60-72% bittersweet/dark chocolate.)

Heat milk until simmering and add the slurry. Simmer until mixture is a little thickened. Take off heat, add in chocolate and stir until chocolate is melted and well combined (mixture should thicken up at least a little at this point). Add in honey to taste. Let cool for a few minutes. Garnish and serve.

So. *chinfists* Would I like Teen Wolf? I've been trying so hard to hold out, but SO many of you have fallen to this show...

I had pie today. Apple pie. But I would happily have cake, too! :)

I do not require hugs and love from anyone, so do not worry! And I have been recharged enough today that I have extra to spare, so please accept them. :)

XOXOXOX

Cake is a good solution for many of life's ills, I believe. <3

Haha, I wondered if you were a marshmallow fan. I go more for whipped cream myself, but it goes well with whatever you want. Enjoy!

My favorite recipe for cake:
1. Drive to restaurant.
2. Smile nicely at server and decline all menus 'cept wine and dessert, thank you.
3. Order glass of wine while pondering dessert menu.
4. Order anything with descriptions like decadent, double-chocolate or explosion. Also acceptable: thousand layer and volcano.
5. Get another glass of wine, and hell, order a second dessert to take home.
6. Go home feeling not a bit guilty because red wine and dark chocolate are heart-healthy choices, y'all.
7. Eat that second dessert, because who do you think you're kidding?

My second favorite recipe is similar, but involves a bakery and drooling on the bakery case.

(thinking of you, darling. much love. *smack*)
