I have cilantro growing strictly for the ladybugs. It's a great host plant for baby-making and baby-raising. The suburbs of the garden, if you will. (And you will.) Side note: I hate cilantro. Yes, I know about the genetics, blah blah soap, it's gross but someone I'm sure loves it, blah. Also, MILD INSECT PR0N IN THE LOWER RIGHT CORNER. (hahaha)

I failed to mention that the upper left critter is the ladybug baby (larva).

Now I'm making Transformer noises. (IDK, ladybug larva look like Autobots to me.) Nope, I'm singing Ladybugs Picnic. :D

*sits around telling knock-knock jokes*

Thanks to those who participated in the poll yesterday, including those that said they were NOT interested in my show. (And I can't help it, I have to laugh at the complete stranger who voted NOPE who has never set foot in my LJ before. Research is research, right? Right.)

Also live JOURNAL = the use of the word journal does not make us journalists. Unless you have a degree in journalism, in which case you obviously are one. But I still hold that LJ didn't make you a journalist. /bi-annual reminder that I'm just a person trying to make people laugh for the most part and should not be taken seriously

...unless I'm talking plants. Then you should. :)

Here is my deal: you have all of my peppers, and I will have all of your cilantro. Yum!!!!!

Although I will leave the cilantro in your garden for your little friends.

Also, now I have that Sesame Street song in my head...

Love you!

I AM FULLY ON BOARD WITH THIS PLAN. Mmm, peppers...

I can easily grow enough for you AND my friends! :D

(I linked to the Sesame Street song, just to make it stick in there more. I'm cool awful like that.)

Love YOU!

If I had a space where I could garden, I would definitely check it out! However, we have a balcony that gets almost no sun and squirrels that like to eat everything.

Though I should have my folks watch it, since they are in Florida and things grow in their compost without them trying.

SQUIRRELS! Oh, they are such rotten little buggers, right? :D

I once grew scores of pumpkins from my compost heap. I did not ever plant pumpkins. (We suspect a stray seed in a jack-o-lantern.)

Yay ladybugs! One landed on my arm on yesterday's walk and I just let it tag along until it got where it was going.

That song makes me happy.

I have SCORES of them on that cilantro plant. I put in a ladybug habitat a few years ago, so they're overwintering in my garden now. <3

I can't think of many old school Sesame Street songs that don't put a huge smile on my face. :D

I am going to have that song WEDGED CROSSWAYS IN MY BRAIN for the rest of the week and I hate you quite a lot for it (though I love you in many other ways).

oooh, so pretty is cilantro. I've never found much use for it otherwise, so knowing that it helps out lady bug and gentleman lady bugs is a wonderful thing. I always learn something when I read your journal, stoney! Thank you.

Is that red & black bug near the middle of the picture a kind of wrinkled ladybug? I've never seen one like that before!

I love cilantro but it doesn't seem worth growing for me as it goes to seed so quickly. I'm not good about keeping up with pinching off the buds so... there it goes.

How are you doing? Did you get some french fries or chocolate yesterday?

Oh, I failed to put in that it's a ladybug larva up at the top. :D That's a baby! Then it'll go through its final developmental stage and become the familiar ladybug we all love. The larval stage is the most productive stage, too. They eat twice as many aphids as adult ladybugs.

That was a good reminder for me to pinch off the flowers, too! (But my friends keep hanging out on the flowers... WHAT TO DO?) :D

I DID get french fries AND chocolate yesterday! I felt that it was deserved. Regular ol' fries, but the chocolate was dark with both fresh and dried raspberries in it. NOM NOM! <3

So happy to hear that the ladybugs like cilantro, that word "fetid" was coined for Cilantro,I am certain. (FOUL smell!)
Yuck! And then Chipotle came along w cilantro lime rice and I cannot leave it alone (seriously, I crave it like chocolate.) (My mouth is a traitor.)

Oh, isn't cilantro the worst?! BLECH, ICK, PTOOEY! However. I love proper salsa, which contains cilantro. I just need other things to drown it out and make it a member of the choir, not a soloist.

:D
